67splitscreen Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The difference between 6th and 16th is near enough £5million - that's quite a lot of money to a team like Rovers!! Thought it was 800k a place.

BangkokRover Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 I'd heard that the pre-contract stipulates that he will only take over providing that: 1. Blackburn Rovers are in the Premier League 2. There are funds available. 3. He has full control - No advisors. 4. He is free to listen to other offers until the end of the season. I guess you could say that it is more of an agreement in principle than a pre-contract. His agent seems to think that he'll be spending his Saturday afternoons at Ewood Park though. Posted it on the LET site, to see the reaction. Hero Olsson: The club is in safe hands
tony gale's mic Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Would love us to get hold of this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Villas_Boas ..doubt it'd happen though.
John Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Who is Rafa represented by? I did not see it myself however there was a really interesting with Rafa and Guillem Balague on Sky recently, questions on his time at Liverpool his transfer record etc. Balague is quite close to Benitez, he would know if there is any truth if the Rafa/Rovers rumours.

Guillem Balague is the best analyst on Sky IMHO
John Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Apparently in that interview Ballague is quite direct when questioning him on his transfer record and Benitez comes across really well, will see if I can find an online version of it.
Seggie Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Who is Rafa represented by? quick google brings up Manuel Garcia Quilon also represents Pepe Reina
rovers_rob Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Kean said he was flying out to India after the West Ham game for his next meeting. Surely if they were going to sack him they would cancel the meeting or delay it until after the last game. As much as I would like Rafa as the manager I just don't believe it will happen. I reckon Kean will start next season as manager.

Billy Castell Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 For the record, I didn't mean I'd like Steve Bruce to be our manager, he's crap. I could see that move happening. I think Van Gaal or Moyes would be a dream appointment. Mourinho or Villa Boas would be perfect, but we have no chance.

Moyes maybe if we have more money than Everton.
John Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Could Sparky be interested if there was potential investment in the team? Maybe thinks he has bigger fish to fry again (after the Fulham role). Know it was just speculation however he was linked with the Bayern Munich job recently. Not sure why I am even suggesting another manager, Venky's don't appear to make logical decisions.
chaddyrovers Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Moyes would be my top choice because at Everton he has done a Fantastic job at Everton without spending a great deal
Iceman Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 alan curbishley, stuart pearce or glenn hoddle. that is my choices
Steve Moss Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 alan curbishley, stuart pearce or glenn hoddle. that is my choices All good choices, in my opinion. Though I would prefer Boas.
tony gale's mic Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I think the bookies odds indicate there's definitely something in these Rafa rumours...
chaddyrovers Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I think the bookies odds indicate there's definitely something in these Rafa rumours... here are the current odds http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/blackburn-specials/next-permanent-manager with Rafa odds at 1/3 and the next manager on that list is 10/1. you can say that Rafa is nail on as the next manager. victor chandler must know something for the odds being like that
rovers_rob Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 If it is true I'm surprised non of the major newspapers have picked up on it.
imy9 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 alan curbishley, stuart pearce or glenn hoddle. that is my choices Pearce flopped as a pl manager, Hoddle is indifferent depends on which one turns up and Curbs-what is the point of sacking Sam if we hire any of the above? Don't rate any of them or their style of play above Sams.
Seggie Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Pearce flopped as a pl manager, Hoddle is indifferent depends on which one turns up and Curbs-what is the point of sacking Sam if we hire any of the above? Don't rate any of them or their style of play above Sams. Got to agree, Hoddle has been out of the game in a major coaching/managerial role at a decent sized club for a long time also as you say it depends on which Hoddle we get, if its the Hoddle that became and did a decent job with England before he went a bit crazy then maybe I would want him as for Pearce I don't rate him, anyone who thinks throwing a goalkeeper up front instead of throwing another striker on to get into europe is a poor tactician also Curbishley did a great job with Charlton not done anything since. Im actually quite warm to Rafa, despite some flops and money spent in the transfer market his record speaks for itself and for the flops he also bought some very good players too. Id even let Steve Kean be his assistant something I am actually convinced that Venky's and Kean himself may have planned into Kean's deal as Jensen's deal is up at the end of the season suggesting that he was only part of a short term plan.

Don't rate any of them or their style of play above Sams. Not sure i'd like to be the side which takes the risk with him, but i do think Hoddle has something to offer someone. He did a sterling job with Southampton and i thought he did well with England until he made those strange comments. I know it was a long time ago now. But these retro managers are all the rage nowadays!

Leghorn at 200/1!
Iceman Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 all 3 choices made, would be a safe option imo. if we are not going to spend, then those 3 would be ideal. if money is available, Rafa would be ideal in attractiing top players
tony gale's mic Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I think if Blackpool get relegated Holloway would become available in the summer. To be honest I'd not be overly keen but it could work I guess. Something to think about - he'd be pretty cheap to get, knows the league and wouldnt have to relocate much.
