here are the current odds

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/blackburn-specials/next-permanent-manager

with Rafa odds at 1/3 and the next manager on that list is 10/1. you can say that Rafa is nail on as the next manager. victor chandler must know something for the odds being like that

Nonesense - its all media driven at this stage.... A couple of £20 bets would see someone else's odds tumble. A few people will have reacted to the press stuff on Rafa and therefore he is hot favourite until money is staked elsewhere.

I doubt Holloway would get a Premier League job now, he should have left at Christmas (like Owen Coyle) I feel he has been tainted by the Phil Brown brush now (good start - followed by terrible form and strange statements to the press). Not that I think he's a bad manager, but thats just how I see it.

p.s.

I would love Rafa as our manager, fingers crossed that rumour turns out to be true.

p.p.s

If we get relegated Holloway would be a good shout (if Blackpool get relegated as well)

Lets be realistic... If we manage to avoid the drop this season, do we really believe the owners, whom have backed Kean from day one, will relinquish him of his duty?

C'mon, in their minds (and only their minds), they have shown us that they do actually know what they are doing and that we should of had faith in them and Kean all along.

All this speculation about a new manager is giving me false hope and I'm not sure I can handle anymore disappointment!

Yeah, in all likelihood, Kean will be here for the foreseeable.

People say they made a U-turn with Sam, but he wasn't their man. Kean is (albeit via SEM). I don't think they're gonna ditch him so easily, especially for an expensive alternative.

Any manager worth their salt isn't gonna come cheap, added to that will be their demands for funds to build a team the way they want to.

Kean will also need a payoff if his contract is to be terminated prematurely. I personally don't believe our owners have the capitol to make such a move and if they did have those sorts of funds, I'd be worried as to where they had come from.

These are things we all know and yet are so desperate for positive change around the club that we let ourselves begin to believe. It resembles self harm in a twisted kind of way!wacko.gif

I think the bookies odds indicate there's definitely something in these Rafa rumours...

It's interesting but it could just as easily be the case that some eagle eyed employee of Victor Chandler has read this site and the firm has put odds up as an opportunity to relieve mug punters of a few quid. If there was anything particularly imminent afoot I would expect one or two other Companies to be offering a market as well. And if they thought it was definitely happening VC wouldn't offer a market at all!

More to the point, if there was anything in this, surely the red tops would be all over it like a rash. It's a huge story. The only rumours I've seen concerning Rafa recently suggest he's going to Villa if anywhere.

Without a massive influx of cash however, we are not going to get to 4th or 5th. Therefore we have to work in small stages, gradually moving up the table. To finish 6th would mean that we finished above some pretty big teams and that too would be nice. As i say 1st is the ambition, top half would be good and 6th would represent excellence for a club like ours. And to finish top 6 you would have to spend, but also youd have to be well managed, and be able to arttract the calibre of players who could get you there, which brings us back to Benitez. I can't stand him but he just might be able to do it and therefore I'd take him as manager, but wouldn't watch his press conferences just as I never watched Allardyce's and don't currently watch Kean's.

Maybe times have changed but finishing 6th in the past means we are about to sell major assets who got us there eg Duff, Bellemy

Guillem Balague tweet :

Some of u ask Rafa to Blackburn. No contact has been made between club and manager. Ive been told Steve Kean to stay

Where did this Rafa info come from?

Ali Syed?

It was obviously rubbish.

And we'd still end up selling them unless we could offer them Champions league if they thought they could get it with another club. However, if you finish lower down they'd go anyway because you'd lack ambition. I'd still rather finish 6th and give us a half chance of keeping good players who might just see that the club was heading in the right direction. Even clubs like Man Utd sell big players; it's the way football and fotballers are nowadays.

The Benitez stuff is balls and just stems from about four months back when there was a big market move for him in the bookies and he tumbled from huge odds to 2/1 overnight. He couldn't work with Venky's and Venky's won't sack Kean. Relegation or no relegation.

In all seriousness does anyone think venkys have any intentions of sacking/ replacing kean!???

Yes philip and BPF think they are going to sack Kean and replace him with Rafa :

Apparently Rafa has a pre-contact deal signed and Schuster doesn't.

I'd heard that the pre-contract stipulates that he will only take over providing that:1. Blackburn Rovers are in the Premier League2. There are funds available.3. He has full control - No advisors.4. He is free to listen to other offers until the end of the season.I guess you could say that it is more of an agreement in principle than a pre-contract. His agent seems to think that he'll be spending his Saturday afternoons at Ewood Park though.

I really hope the information that BPF and phillip heard is correct but I just can't see it happening.

My money is on Kean being the manager at the start of next season.

Personally, I dont think he will be, however in the unlikely event that he is, watch for an alarming fall in season ticket sales, whichever league we are in!!

We wont have to wait much longer to find out whats going on surely? With only 3 games left, if they are planning on sacking Kean (providing we stay up) it surely wouldn't follow to much longer after the Wolves game. No point in him going on holiday and then coming back and getting sacked, plus he would want to be discussing transfer budgets and stuff on one of his trips to see the owners.

Rafa coming here would be a decent step for us, a well known manager and it also shows that the owners are not using Kentaro for everything they do.

I still think that Kean will be here next season though. shame.

I really hope that Phillip and BPF information is correct and that Kean is going. Hopefully not stopping either as a coach next season.

there is not long to to the end of the season now. only another 3 weeks so if they are going to sack him then it will be around a month's time and replace him with Rafa.

Kamy, BPF and Philipl how sure are you that Rafa will become rovers manager?

will fans buy season tickets next season if kean is manager? would fans buy season tickets next season if Rafa is manager?

I would buy a season ticket whoever the manager is and still go to about half of the away games aswell.

The situation may be taken out of Venky's hands if Kean quits ! i'm not just saying that flippently either , if you look at him now compared to his early interviews he looked more bright eyed and excited about the job now he looks as if he's not enjoying it if he feels the fans and players aren't behind him he may just throw in the towel
