Guest roverite1991 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I think we'll have to score at LEAST 2 goals if Sturridge plays against us. I'd go with a similar tactic to the Citeh game (and hopefully the same committment and enthusiasm from the players) using this formation: -----------Robbo Sally -- Samba -- P.Jones -- Givet ---------------J.Jones Hoilett ----- Peders ----- Olsson ---------Benjani ----- Kalinic Bench: Bunn, Emo, Hanley, N'Zonzi, Rochina (I keep calling him Cheena for some reason, sounds cooler in my not-quite-right head), Roberts and Santa) That is a VERY solid defense (our best imo) with J.Jones instructed to break up the play and pass to our mid/wingers. Hoilett and Olsson will be great on the wings (as always) and Peders can do some defensive work as well as link the mid and attack (and his set-pieces could be vital, as I felt they would've been against Citeh). Now, I pick Benjani to start as he is a big lad and will chase lost causes. He can be replaced by Roberts (who is a better impact player anyway) after the halfway point. Kalinic is our top scorer and can create a moment of magic when needed. He has a decent touch and CAN score at important times (no time is more important than now)! Trouble is.....Kean won't let it happen
Kamy100 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Bolton looked out on their legs tonight. Sturridge has an injury and might not be fit for Saturday. Tonight Mark Davies and Stiensson picked up injuries. Added to the fact that they have picked up 1 point from their last 11 away games. This represents a great chance for Rovers to pick up 3 points.
barry_ Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Can someone please let me know if catching a 17:30 train back from Blackburn is optimistic? I can't remember if it's realistic to return to the train station by this time after a 15:00 kick off has finished. it's about 30 minutes walk from the ground so you'd be cutting it fine

Do you mean Kevin Davies? And did he? I thought it was just Steinsson that did. I'll be happy to be proved wrong however this is what I was told. 8 goals conceded in past 2 games away from the Reebok.. HAS to look good from a Rovers point of view. It's looking possible COYB!!!

Nope Mark Davies the midfielder, he has done well for Bolton recently but picked up an injury.

Oh sorry I thought you were talking about picking up an injury tonight. I saw Kevin Davies had been subbed off and wasn't aware of an injury but I realise now that Mark had been injured beforehand and wasn't even on the teamsheet. Apologies.
Darwen Rover Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Biggest game in years for us... For me this game will make or break us simple as that!!
brian nelsen Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 They looked leggy tonight and to be honest, i'll say and think anything to make me feel more optomistic about Saturday. So stop being so grumpy. This was a reply to Abbey by the way. I'm new to all this and still trying to fathom stuff out.
Clitherover Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 sods law says sturridge will be fit and have a blinder and bolton will be hungry for a win after another thumping (see arsenal after stoke game). Still, we have no bigger chance than this between now and the end of the season. Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk

Its time to give someone a hiding, and with the exception of the dingles I couldnt think of a better team to do it against. Sent from my iPad whilst sat on the bog

I can't remember if it's realistic to return to the train station by this time after a 15:00 kick off has finished. I would say that providing you get away from the ground fairly soon after the final whistle then it is fairly easy to do. I do it regularly and my average time from the ground to the train station is 22mins ( I always time it) and given that I am 75, I am sure you will at least equal that time.

Sent from my iPad whilst sat on the bog I hope your right - would love nothing less than to give Bolton a hiding. Sent from my fighter jet over Libya
Gav Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I hope your right - would love nothing less than to give Bolton a hiding. Sent from my fighter jet over Libya If we can score, we win, simple as that for me, not botthered about them, they're already on the beach by the sound of things. Sent from St John Street Chambers in Manchester, barristers' chambers, I've a case at 10am: A Mr Allardyce, wrongful dismissal, open and shut case, be done by 10.15am, 'thrown out'
Ralfinho Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 THis is our world cup final on saturday. We have got to win at all costs, we need to come out all guns blazing and try to get an early goal to settle the team and the fans. Sent from my Mums Ovaries waiting to be released on her next period
OhmiBRFC Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Biggest game in years for us... For me this game will make or break us simple as that!! Being said prior to every game recently. Truth is, all the games are massive now.
brian nelsen Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 VE Day..... Sent from my settee, in front of Homes Under the Hammer (given, not as exciting as being in a jet over Libya). We MUST win this game. I'm going to have two vases of Thwaites Smooth at half time. Come on You Blues.
Fife Rover Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Sent from my iPad whilst sat on the bog Too much information!
Roverdale Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 All signs point to a win as long as we can score! An early goal then let them chase the ball for 70 minutes. They're gonna be way too tired and if our defence can be as solid as Monday night then they haven't got a chance. Of course this plan fails if tweedle-dee and tweedle-dog$h!t can't score AGAIN. 1-0 Hoillett/Samba/P Jones. Sent from Steve Kean's Computer, Choosing Tactics
Glenn Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 We now have our usual pinned discussion pre-match thread at http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/24523-rovers-vs-bolton-possibly-our-most-important-game-in-years/ Sadly we're lacking a preview yet.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 28, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted April 28, 2011 I hope your right - would love nothing less than to give Bolton a hiding. Sent from my fighter jet over Libya I never thought I'd miss hearing 'tonight's going to be a good night' at the end of the game so much! COYB
