wonder can the title of this thread be changed ? maybe to ...

SAM ALLARYDYCE MESSIAH OR SIMPLY GOOD MANAGER. HE'S NEVER COMING BACK. AND BEFORE HE GETS ANOTHER JOB, WE'LL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH HIM AS A USELESS PUNDIT AND EVEN WORSE CO COMMENTATOR.

his soundbites are appalling. on ESPN on sunday he mentioned ''box action'' haha. gonna get that on a t-shirt. :)

as a co-commentator last night he said something like; "newcastle arn't anticipating the big kick-out from theyre goalkeeper." sound familiar. if only they had robinson, nzonzi samba and others to pile in! haha. :P

the rest of the time; he sounds like he's trying solve a really difficult maths equation while thinking of something to say! haha.

YES WE'RE WELL AWARE HE ISN'T COMING BACK BUT SEEING AS THIS TOPIC WAS CREATED BY ONE OF HIS CRITICS TRYING TO DO HIM DOWN I'M NOT SURE WHY YOU'RE TRYING TO MAKE OUT ITS HERE FOR HIS SUPPORTERS TO PINE ABOUT HIS LOSS. Allardyce has forgotten a million times more than you'll ever know about football, you slating his punditry is beyond funny, its like a reception class kid telling a university PHD his first lecture wasn't up to scratch. As for the "dross" you mention in a later post that we've apparently forgotten about, not at all. Its just many fans are able to employ some sort of bias when watching Rovers, they're not obsessed with studiously analysing the football for the required amount of flicks, tricks and passing in triangles as if it was some irrelevant neutral match. When its Rovers the result is more important than the style, the points are more important than the style and the player attitude is more important than the style. Allardyce always got the best out of a limited squad, I found it very enjoyable throughout and was proud of what a small, broke club achieved against the odds. These days we're a laughing stock and nobody outside a minority of our fans has even noticed we're supposedly trying to play "better" football, never mind thought to give us any credit for making a shocking job of it.

Great response to the troll.

is it... ??? not how i read it. the remark to rothery was 'have erased the dross.. contempt... the picking of certain matches and sod the rest...

anyone who travelled to away games (i attended almost every single 1 by the way)

will agree.

im guessing you didnt, i centainly wish i hadnt bothered going to em! :D if you were happy enough with the style and prefer stats to excitement thats fair enough.

im as fanatical a rover as you could ever meet. fiercly loyal and would watch rovers in any division that they are in... always have always wil.

football to me isnt just a badge of honour... its an entertainment and has to have elements of excitement to it.

do you not go to ewood to be entertained ? if not why do you go!

as for sam's commentaryv etc... i find it just as dull.

btw... troll ? you saving im ugly ? :P:D

But you're enjoying the away games now?

enjoyed some of them.. under kean. wigan, fulham, spring to mind.

the anticipation is certainly bigger, because every game is do or die.

did you enjoy the big sam trips ?

Speaking as someone who goes to every away game I must say I enjoyed them much more than I do now. At least I knew that the home games would produce points. Now I look at the clueless puppet standing on the touchline and I know that the home games are going to produce nothing, just like the away games. As the the quality of football, yes we were better at West Brom, although having said that, West Brom created the better chances. After that it's been pretty dismal away from home. The humilation at Wigan was far worse for me than watching an understrength side get hammered at Old Trafford.

Totally agree.

Yeah, having a team which has been dragged down to the abyss produces more enjoyable games!

Christ.

He was asked to name away games he's enjoyed, he did just that.

He was saying each game being "do or die" was a positive.

Surely under Sam that fact it wasn't do or die was a positive?

I could even understand that point of view if we were doing remotely well away from home.

Under Sam:

Last season our away record was 14 points from 19 games (0.74 points per game), the 13th best away record in the league.

Up until Sam left our away record was 7 points from 9 (0.78 points per game) games with the 13th best away record in the league.

Under Kean:

Our record is 4 points from 8 games, 0.5 points per game with the 18th best away record in the league since he took over.

And yet he's listing two games that Rovers lost under Kean as away games he enjoyed, whilst criticising Sam for his far superior away record.

As a manager Graeme Souness is not fit to lace Allardyces boots. He left our squad in almost as bad a state as Ince did.

Ask our fans who they look back on most fondly.

Anyway, what was the point of that post? Allardyce isn't coming back. Get used to it.

If individuals could somehow manage to put their personal dislike of the man aside, they would accept he is a very good manager.....

It'll never happen. That would mean admitting that they were wrong and that their knowledge and judgement of football matters could be written on the back of a postage stamp.

Look at their careers. Souness has nothing on what Sam achieved. Souness and Allardyce had entirely different circumstances at Rovers.

It's funny that when you're saying "Allardyce isn't coming back" one minute, but at the same time regularly coming into this thread with your half baked ideas on football the next.

The reason for this.......because its true TGM, simple as that, no need to write war and peace on the subject, anyone who watched us over the past 2yrs can confirm.

OMG! Done brilliantly since Kean tried to abandon it haven't we? Can't you get it into your head that the squad is not suited to playing passing football successfully in the Prem? Ince's disastrous reign proved that 100%.

I'll look at what they've achieved at my club.

Souness

- Promotion, exciting football, memorable results, league cup success, European qualification.

Allardyce

- Survival, Mid-table finish, Snore-inducing football.

It's funny that when you're saying "Allardyce isn't coming back" one minute, but at the same time regularly coming into this thread with your half baked ideas on football the next.

How's that funny?

Supporters keep saying that Sam wont be coming back.

Well, an awful lot can happen between now and August. Have a long and hard think about that one.

If any of you have a spare pound in your pocket, might be worthwhile placing it on the 'return of the Messiah'.

Souness had the fans on his side and won the League cup, Allardyce did neither.

Sam had plenty of fans on his side - the ones who know and understand football.

Souness was a good manager for a few seasons and then gave up - he was as dangerous to the club's future then as Kean is now.

Sam was never anything less than a very safe pair of hands - and who wouldn't want that right now ?

I've no idea what you look like zacc but the rest certainly fits...

Trolls (Wiki)

Later, in Scandinavian folklore, trolls become defined as a particular type of being, generally held to be larger than humans and notably ugly.[3] Numerous tales about trolls are recorded, in which they are frequently described as being extremely old, very strong, but slow and dim-witted.
