Fans will get behind the team if somehow we can score the first goal - but when did that last happen ?

The likelihood is we'll compete well for an hour and then fall away as City's superior quality shows through.

I understand the need to get behind the club but this fool of a manager needs to know what fans really think of him.

If he had any shame he would have resigned by now anyway.

If only RSC was playing Jim he could have got us a goal or two

I did, still waiting a reply

I have a day job dude, give me a chance! Seems I made a pigs ear out of apparently inviting the world to PM me when my intention was only to say that Andy should PM if he wanted to follow up on anything in my response to his posting - my Inbox went from empty to chocka in minutes, my phone started pinging like a fire alarm!

Pafell I have nothing extra to add to my earlier stuff, I know that you are in contact with others via PM and I understand that what you been told is broadly correct. I can only echo what PhilipL and Kamy and others have said - we need to park any public displays of anger for the moment and simply support the guys on the pitch.

Lame I know but that's all I've got right now.

1) He is in a different universe to Kean

2) He's a proper manager.

3) He doesn't take @#/? from anyone, ergo it proves Chuckle brothers and Anderson will be keeping their oars out- which to me is the most important thing for the club.

I am not going to partake in the protest. It goes against every cell in my body to berate anything to do with Rovers, and I don't see how we can get a message to the players that we are not berating them. I can't stand the thought of them thinking the supporters are not supporting them in their hours of need. They have no manager really, they don't have the wise and I'm sure reassuring John Williams there, they have been left to flounder and we need to do all we can to support them to save the 135 year club we all love.

I was starting to think that a protest is the only way forward and um-ed and ah-ed about making a (non-offensive) banner. But today I take a little heart from what TimmyJimmy, BPF and Philipl have said and am scared it might make things worse.

Here are some quotes from our very own Phil Jones about an hour ago:

'We need you all, to help us get out of this situation' (Twitter)

And Peds

'I would rather use all my energy on trying to help our club Blackburn Rovers out of the situation we are in now.'

The players know the deep stuff we are in, and they need our continued support.

Ok point taken about day job etc and Pm's received. Not lame at all as I am a little bit aware of the situation. the imfo I have been told of is more than enough for now.

like you I fully support and cannot emphasise enough how essential it is to get behind the team like never before.

I sincerely hope people take heed to your posts on this subject. I know that you and others cannot go into more details - sadly, but understandable.

Just as understandable the desire to protest is. But for

NOW UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON PUT PROTESTS ONTO THE BACK BURNER

AFTER THE SEASON OR ONCE PREMIERSHIP SAFETY IS ASSURED, THEN PROTEST LIKE HELL.

Then they need to pull their fingers out of their arses for the remaining games - especially the Bolton, West Ham and Wolves matches - they could make or break our club!

Oh believe me I think they will do just that. I will be at whu, hope to see you there. sadly the last game I can get to this season.

PAFELL - I only quote your post because I feel the words relevant to what I have to say, so this is not a response to you personally.

There are many very reasonable, thinking posters on this MB, I like to feel I'm capable of being reasonable and am most of the time. I am at the moment very, very angry when I look at the state of my football club. I was Everton on Saturday and I know what happened on and off the pitch ( the support was restrained in it's criticsm, the team was carp), plus we have the whole Rao history to take into account. I'd like to talk about protest and what may or may not happen at the City game.

I have not criticised the club, the manager, the team or the support (can't really understand those who criticise the fans at all) during the debacle of the Rao ownership. During recent months I have watched the club disintegrate under their ownership and have not been granted a single shred of respect as a supporter, not a sensible considered word from the Raos. I give these people the benefit of the doubt, I realise their huge cultural differences, I realise there are language differences, I appreciate they know nothing of football and the supporter's emotions. I know the Raos bought this club as an advertising vehicle. I also know their actions have, at best, proved their words are designed to let people hear what they wish to hear rather than speaking openly. At best these people are devious at worst they simply do not tell the truth. I've heard it said this is a cultural thing, I don't know. I have always been against, for years, foreign ownership of English football clubs I think the reasons why are plain for all to see.

Philip, BPF and TJ, posters who I have a lot of respect for, say there are exciting ideas / plans IF we stay up. For me this is further confirmation of my greatest fear that releagtion could mean oblivion. I take no comfort from IF we stay up because the obvious conclusion is the Raos will walk away IF we are relegated.

We sat 6 rows from the front near the corner flag at Goodison. Around 85 minutes the ball went out for a goal kick and Samba ambled after it. Robbo came racing across from his area to get the ball and hurl abuse at Samba for being so slow. I was close enough to see Samba's eyes, he was beaten, finished, didn't care. Robbo was the complete opposite, trying so hard. Of the fourteen players on that pitch on Saturday three showed some emotion, some care - Robbo, Dunny and Salgado. Don't fool yourselves for one moment by thinking the team will get their collective finger out. They are beaten.

I could feel the tears burning in my eyes at the end. This was the moment when the pain of relegation bit deep. When the hope that luck and other poor teams might keep us up left me. In my heart I still believe we will survive but every ounce of rationality says we are down because the team have no belief, no fight. They should be able to play and win regardless of who is manager, if it mattered to them, because any group of eleven is capable of at least trying.

I am not going to advocate protest but I say to those preaching restraint, back the team, wait till the end of the season, and I'm not criticising - do you not know the emotions, the passion? I'm pretty calm, know how to behave etc. but if I'm honest if my team is being beaten 2 or 3 nil against City I'm not sure how I'm going to react. I shall try to behave in a dignified manner but I know myself and if we are being slaughtered and the atmosphere turns I may well protest long and hard. There is nothing left to do, I've backed the team, I've avoided criticising the manager, I've tried to be reasonable but if Ewood erupts on Monday I may well do as well.

The Raos are fools, they should not be at Ewood as owners. Even after all that has happened they go on TV and spout nonsense about eighth and winning cups. Eighth, just how much longer are these people going to be allowed to take the mick out of the support. Tell us the truth. This is all complete bullshit, put a manger in place, players on the pitch, money into the club and explain what the hell they think they are doing. This is what we deserve.

Protest? Yes I'll protest long, loud and hard against the people who are destroying Blackburn Rovers. Spare me the platitudes about supporting the team because I do, I WILL be at Ewood next season, unlike many. Slaughtered by City and I suspect Kean and the Raos will get everything they deserve, hopefully beamed around the world on Sky into their own living room.

The Raos made the bed, Monday night they may have to lay in it

A very heart-felt post Paul - and your comments about samba's eyes have depressed me. Maybe you should print you post and send it to him c/o the club.

But I fear that your a lining up for big disappointment on Monday. We are highly unlikely to beat the current FA Cup finalists who've spent about half a billion on their squad in recent times. But it surely isn't one of our target games. I'd say we have three such matches to target point anything off either of the Mancs will be a bonus.

I'm really not sure that good times are upon us - even if we stay up (although my heart says we will - just - but only because of other poor teams). Venkys have been saying one thing and doing another since they arrived. So they no longer have any credibility in my eyes and still have everything to prove. If we stick with Kean next season we could break records for lowest points total - whichever division we are in.

Excellent post Paul and one that echos my own feelings perfectly. It's been clear to see for a while that certain players have been coasting and that Salgado hasn't been happy about it - some have moaned about his age and pay packet but for a foreign star having come from the biggest team on the planet it's very refreshing.

I just hope that he and the few model pros still left in our squad can pull together some of the money grabbing tossers just long enough for us to stay up.

I think we've lost so many of our target games this season, this now has to be one!

I understand where you're coming from, Jonny but realistically it's not. I'm certain we'll go into the bottom 3 before the season is over.

Of course a point will be a bonus, I quite agree BUT the players cannot afford to be on that pitch thinking this is not one of our target games. We have five to play and all have to be target matches.

Disagree completely about Samba Paul out of an extremely bad bunch I think he has looked one of those who has been trying his heart out in recent weeks. At 2-0 down we WERE beaten on Saturday. 1-0 might have been a different story.

Agree entirely there's no such things now as target games. Five games left and we HAVE to get the 5 or 6 points required. Doesn't matter if it's from Citeh and United or West Ham and Wolves.

Unfortunately they got used to that practice during the reign of a certain Mr Allardyce...

(and yes, I know we would be safe if he was still Manager, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,)

No you're reading something into something that isn't there.

Personally I take the rumours about Benitez with a huge pinch of salt and I'm not a big fan myself but there's little doubt he is a huge name within the world of football and it would be a huge feather in the Rao's cap to entice him to Ewood. If negotiations have reached the advanced stage people are talking about, that's not indicative of owners who don't care or who would necessarily walk away.

If we go down plans will by definition have to be different. Someone like Benitez probably wouldn't want to come and budgets will probably look quite different. It could be nothing more than that. But I don't think it's fair to assume from comments made about what will happen when we stay up that something different entirely will happen if we go down.
