SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 May I say that while I am in favour of some sort of protest AFTER the game,I just hope that this is not exploited by those with possible ulterior motives.

John Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 From what I read/heard, any demonstrations will take place before/after the match with emphasis being on getting behind the team during the game. There are some really angry fans about and I mean livid, if the game does not go well I have a feeling it could get very nasty.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Outright trouble makers Matty,it only takes one or two nuggets.
Fife Rover Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Outright trouble makers Matty,it only takes one or two nuggets. Add to that a lynch mob of single brain cell chavs and before you know it there is a full-scale riot going on. Police need to made aware of this crazy lot now, and then they can plan to deal with it.
Glenn Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I was all for backing the protest (even though I think the only thing it'll achieve is a few fans feeling better for having done something) until I read about the "confronting kean" bit on facebook a few days ago. But both the old bill and the club have been aware of it for some time and I'm sure they'll get bored and leave long before Kean shows his face.
philipl Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I have said all I have to say on this thread. PLEASE GET BEHIND THE LADS TONIGHT!!! Save the Keantucky Fried Chicken for later.

Mattyblue Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 The genie is out the bottle now phil, all we can do is hope it doesn't get out of hand...
PAFELL Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 WTF do you keep harping on about, if you don't want to protest tomorrow just don't shout at the TV. If you read the thread as a whole and not just one post, you may understand. I don't know if this has been mentioned but I received a worrying E-mail this morning. I hear that there is a protest set to take place before and after the game at the Walker statue. I'm not opposed to the protest although I admit that it is entirely pointless. However, the concerning part of the E-mail I read was that over two hundred people are confirmed to wait outside the ground for Kean to come out so that they can confront him in person? I'm sorry but that is entirely over the top and this level of threatening behaviour should only be met with one answer - police involvement. Protest all you like, but lets not having thugs squaring up to Kean... Kean will not be coming out of that exit - that I am certain of. Sadly every club has its idiots who want to behave like thugs.

Interesting I heard the same from a friend in Blackburn - though I also heard that the Police are more than aware of it, they have been expecting it and been prepared sometime ago for it.
Fife Rover Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 bit harsh fife. I feel very much saddened that I need to say it Abbs, but it is no more than the truth and I hope it will prevent our club getting even further ridiculed by the media. Oh yes while I am thinkig about it Abbs: Just you get plenty of hair restorer rubbed onto your chin tonight.
daveoftherovers Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I think a few people are blowing the protest out of proportion to be honest, I think the main aim, by the vast majority of the fans is to let the owners and Kean know that we don't approve, I don't think they wish to "Confront" Kean in the manner described at all. IMHO, as always, I bet a lot depends on the result... If we get something from the game and our players show some steel then you will just see a smaller protest after If they don't, he plays Julie, Citeh stuff us etc, it will just kick off with the fans during the game, and then there will be a much bigger protest outside, and yes, I for one will be part of that protest in the scenario I described actually occurs, believe me I don't want it to, but I will have had enough by then... (And I started supporting Rovers in the 3rd Div BTW)
Mercer Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Kean should not be allowed to be confronted - that's strictly out of order. There are a lot of rumours flying about and I just hope that it doesn't get out of hand. By all means, supporters should be allowed to protest but should do so in a proper manner.
Backroom Tom Posted April 25, 2011 Backroom Posted April 25, 2011 Kean should not be allowed to be confronted - that's strictly out of order. There are a lot of rumours flying about and I just hope that it doesn't get out of hand. By all means, supporters should be allowed to protest but should do so in a proper manner. My worry is it will be mainly a load of chavs shouting offensive stuff whilst TV cameras roll.
sambo Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 What's the issue with confronting Kean? If it isn't aggressive and is in no means overly intimidating or physical at all, then surely protesting in his presence isn't too big a problem? Although I assume that confronting him has physical connotations, and people threatening him isn't on. But he has to know the strength of feeling
Mc Love Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Anyone know if the protest happened before the game? I assume there will be booing even though we played well - if i was there I wouldnt know what to do. I would probably clap the players off and Boo kean and venkys! How long more can they give him?

Till we're relegated
Mc Love Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Deserved a least a point today - wonder if there will still be a protest
PAFELL Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Some are protesting near the Jack Walker statue. After a performance like that - first 20 minutes aside credit to the players should be given not protests. what I was happy to hear, when rovers started putting on the pressure, the fans got behind the team.
rovgers Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Don't know about cameras, I didn't hang around but they looked like a bunch of chavvy kids and nothing serious.
