[Archived] MESSAGE TO VENKYS

Recommended Posts

Haven't posted much this year, but let me give the Desais my take.

On my own part, I've been a season ticket holder for nearly 20 years. This season I stopped going for personal reasons after a bereavement in October. I've felt ready to attend games from about February but the certain knowledge that I'd have a 420 mile round trip to watch an ill-prepared team lose to all comers has stopped me. I haven't even gone to London games- 2 of which are within 3 miles of me- because I don't particularly want to go and simply be unhappy at the game I love(d).

Next season- whether I get a season ticket will be down to two things.

1) Will Steve Kean still be manager? If he is- not a chance

2) Are Kentaro still involved? If they are but we have employed a non-Kentaro/competent manager (what is Allardyce doing again???) I will. If they are and Kean is still manager- not a chance

Finances don't affect me- in that I'm lucky, so a price rise in itself would not be a deciding factor. However I have been feeling dissociated from the club since the takeover and subsequent events and I struggle to even watch televised games- there are so many better things I am doing with my time now. It will make some major business decisions and bravery on the part of Venkys to change that.

We were a well-run, well respected club before Venky's took over. Now we're a laughing stock. This is already being used as a case study of how to damage your brand in only a few months. Well done Mrs Desai!

Good to hear from you again Jan. Been wondering where you were.

Great post Jan and something the Rovers Fans need to read.

I don't think there is a single Rovers fan who is not still very concerned about the position our club is in on and off the field. It's just that some don't feel obliged to keep pointing it out at every available opportunity. To seize on every negative and use it as a weapon to have a go at anyone who sees things slightly differently seems to have become increasingly prevalent on this messageboard recently. This is not a dig at Jan, as she has not been posting recently, or at any one particular poster but rather a general observation about the almost delight some seem to be finding in being able to say Doomed! in as many different ways as possible.

Jan

I don't disagree with much of what you say but if every Rovers fan decided to take their bat home because the club isn't being run as we expect then we wouldn't have a Club.

One thing that this situation has done is to unite the fans (albeit in the face of adversity) as evidenced by the excellent support we have been getting at both home and away games.

Now is not the time to be castigating the owners, advisors, management or players. They need our support, this is OUR club not theirs and we will be here long after they have gone.

I'm sick of reading that. Explain to me how ANY Rover would be enjoying this farce of a season. Or getting over a defeat by logging on to brfcs and going 'haha told you so!'

Did I say anyone was enjoying the season? And i don't understand why, but it would seem that some do seem to take pleasure in saying every 5 mins that it's all doom and gloom. Much of it is, but sensible fans can see it for ourselves - we're not ostriches sticking our heads in the sand. we know what relegation might and probably will mean to the club, and more importantly to the town. We all know that any prosperity Blackburn enjoys, and there isn't much about, is to do with having a successful Premier league club. It's what puts the town on the map and keeps lots of associated businesses going. But there's no need to jump on every negative about the club and magnify it - WE KNOW!!!

No, not a thumbs up Gav.

Some posters just can't understand why people are so negative, especially as fans we have always been pretty content, 'err well they must WANT us to lose, ya know to prove themselves right'.

When actually is because we are frustrated beyond belief and as a football message board this is our outlet.

That's not true. Speaking personally I believe we have actually been PLAYING pretty well, I also feel there is a great spirit within the side and that we are almost () safe.

But, this season could still end in devestation and there is nothing wrong with venting spleens.

There's nothing wrong with being angry and saying so. I am and have said so on many an occasion, if not on here then in discussion with other fans who are friends. It's not that I'm talking about. there are some who post on here who are almost pleased to be able to spread dooma nd despondency and hate it when others don't appear to be quite as despondent. That's very different from being angry and sounding off about it.

Oh yes a thumbs up Matty, in fact a big thumbs up.

As for this being an outlet, I seem to recall telling you this when Allardyce was manager, the same rules didn't seem to apply then, but hey ho.

Under Sam we were a top 10 side. Under Kean we're still in grave danger of relegation.

We'll survive (I think and hope) but only barely (I fear). 18 points in 19 matches with two to go. The numbers don't lie and clearly indicate where the blame and praise lies.

Not true, I pretty much disagreed with everything that you and others said about Allardyce, I would argue (and still do!) till I was blue in the face, however I never once suggested you should shut it or stop posting your opinion.

I just get angry when some people joke about problems with the club, or deny they are there. It's the "we are too good to be relegated" brigade, or the ones who only watch the highlights on MOTD I can't stand. Or the ones that wanted Allardyce sacked and will stubbornly cling to any half decent thing Kean does to try and somehow prove they were right all along.

i agree that excessive positivity can also be very annoying, but then I don't think many of us are excessively positive. There are some I agree but I've learnt largely to say what extremists at either end of the spectrum say with a pinch of salt and try to keep my own counsel most of the time.

That seems to happening a lot on here....think some are failing to realise how close we are to relegation.

We can all, I think, do the basic arithmetic to work it out for ourselves. And we're closer this afternoon than we were this morning. However, we're also closer to safety than I thought we'd be a month ago.

I am confused Mercerman, Roberts gives his opinion on what he thinks about the Raos- don't suppose you've spoken to them have you? And you say it's embarrassing?!

I am sure it was a positive lift for the players to see the owners around the place.
