That's where negotiators come in.

Why do we seem to have sold more players through release clauses, than other clubs outside the top four or five?

Maybe we have to give these clauses for them to sign up. I think we've been blessed with some great players over the years. If the salaries being offered are the same, maybe we have to concede on things like this?

I can't believe what i'm reading. The "for sale" sign goes on a player when he puts in the performances that players like Jones puts in. Don't you think that Manchester United don't send their scouts out to look at these players. It's obvious to anyone that Jones is a quality young player and was always going to provoke a lot of iterest from bigger clubs with mugh bigger budgets. In the end we may or may not be a selling club anymore but if a player really wants to leave to play champions league football or just to get a bigger wage how can we stop him? THERE IS NO LOYALTY IN FOOTBALL ANYMORE.Look at it this way, if another firm came up to you and said "Come to work for us and we'll double your wage" what would you do?

You are quite correct in your post, however, much anger is being vented because firstly our owners again made a sweeping statement that Phil Jones would not be sold (see email on other thread) and secondly the clause in the contract which triggers his right to speak to clubs who offer over £16,000,000.

There is one simple thing about these clauses which could stop this situation occurring, make it illegal for anyone to divulge the figure within the clause, this would allow the club to negotiate the best fee possible and the other simple thing that could be done is this, Kick Agents out of Football!!

I suspect it is because it is harder to attract players to little old Blackburn.

I am sure there is much that happens that is covered by confidentiality clauses. However, you only have to have read this site for the last 6 months to see how well that works - "I have a connected source who I can't name as it will put them in trouble but has told me X" If players had secret clauses their agents would collude with buying clubs somehow to get the figure out and nobody would be able to prove anything. Nothing would please me more than kicking agents out of the game but it isn't going to happen. Football is, basically, crap now, with average players getting ridiculous sums of money.

As for lying about Phil Jones not being sold, there is a contradiction in your argument. If the club had come out and said "Phil Jones will not be sold (unless his release clause is triggered" then you'd doubtless call them naive. They have effectively said that they don't need to sell him - yet you see that as lying. That's your right and your agenda but I'd be interested to know what they should have said instead?

This all boils down to the next chapter of the Venkys. If Jones and samba go and its down to the players. The way things pan out from there Will speak volumes. They will either put there money where there mouths are and buy Johnson or say for example shawcross or they will get upson on a free and buy bling for venky towers. No idea how the sponsorship is going but that again will show intent..big sponsor they mean busuness or venky on shirts shows they want only publicity and don't give a flying about us..I've no contacts or sources tho ;)

All the points ABBEY made will be key indicators as to their intentions.

Nicko said that every 'rupee' from sales will be available to the manager- so potentially 20-25 million, will get us some decent players.

Im struggling to understand some of the outrage at Phil Jones leaving, surely it was inevitable. I have been at 3 games this year when both Dalglish and Comoli were watching Jones so its safe to assume the wiley old Fox Fergie amongst the other clubs already named have been keeping very close tabs on him.

We can never argue that when a huge club (pains me to say it) comes knocking for one of our players it will be very hard for them to resist the lure of champs league football, no matter what we offer them and at that point it comes down to the players decision. Plenty of yougn stars were sold on during JW and the trusts regime so this isnt something new to us or exclusive to Venkys. I dont think losing a player to Manchester United can give us any indication as to Venkys plans or performance, after all there are only maybe 8 or so clubs in the world who would be able to convince a player to resist the lure of United (again pains me to say it).

Even if Venkys do want us to become a top 5 side it will take a number of years to get there and players simply wont wait when they can test theirselves at the highest level now.

I wouldnt be totally surprised if Jones was purchased and loaned back to us for 6-12 months as United are still flush at centre half when Ferdinand is fit.

No way on Earth do I want the crumbs from Fergie's table and Jones is loaned back.

The indignity of it.

If we stay up (and I think next year is going to be a greater struggle than the last), I couldn't give a monkeys whether Eamon Holmes was playing for us.

Ive just spoken to the ticket office and told them not to process my 2 season tickets (mine & my son's)until further notice.

I would expect a lot of fans will be holding on until we can see some positive movement regarding transfers not signing sh1t players we dont need or want
