Why do people keep taking this out of context?

We don't HAVE TO SELL. That's the difference.

But when players (like Jones) want to leave, we have little option but to take the money and run.

I wonder if Samba has a 'trigger fee' clause in his contract?

Will we have the balls to keep Hoilett for another season if he refuses to sign?

The daft thing is that ALL clubs are selling clubs - at the right price - Venky's (most recent) mistake is to tell everyone we are 'no longer' one.

I agree in many respects to what you say here, if a player is so intent on leaving, he will be off but I do feel a quality and experienced manager would have handled this matter a little better, firstly a respected and experienced manager would have sat Jones down and convinced him that with a proper transfer budget the squad was going to be improved and to give things until January and see how we go as a club, if at that time he still decided to move, the manager would not stand in his way if he still wanted to move on, Hughes kept Roque at Rovers by bringing over his younger brother, any thing that is possible to hold on to your player.

Jones has come through the ranks at Rovers, with players such as Hanley and Fielding, is close to many young players who are long time friends, Hoilett is another, great mates with Ollson, the club should use everything they can to keep the player at the club.

But, to hear your manager speak about Roque as a signing when he performed like he wasnt interested last year wouldnt go down too well with Jones.

Maybe if he had said, look we have earmarked such and such a player, says he will join us etc etc. could have been a very different outcome!!

Oh and as for we dont have to sell, reminds me of the old TSB advert, 'We like to say yes' they like to but dont always.

Come on, Kelbo. How many clubs keep hold of their best players once Man. United come a callin'?

David Moyes could do nothing to stop Rooney leaving Goodison Park. Does that make him an inexperienced manager?

We can't compete with the biggest club in England, no matter how much spiel Kean can give or how much cash Venky's put on the table. There was only ever going to be one outcome here. I don't know, maybe fans are still in the 'denial stage' here and are looking for a scapegoat.

Very sensible post.

In a nutshell, IMO, we have a manager who has little if any credibility. This is what some of us have been concerned about all along.

Regretfully, we are all suffering the painful consequences.

Ive just spoken to the ticket office and told them not to process my 2 season tickets (mine & my son's)until further notice.

I would expect a lot of fans will be holding on until we can see some positive movement regarding transfers not signing sh1t players we dont need or want

I think your sentiments are very accurate.

I personally know of about 12 season ticket holders who are playing the 'wait and see game'. Many have already said that on this board.

The worrying thing is that these, like yourself, are 'hard core' supporters.

Philipl takes enormous stick on this MB but his observation that the future is "excrutiatingly grim", is, IMO, very apt.

Nothing wrong in waiting. We'll get a better picture in mid July than we have now. Personally as far as I can tell things look pretty bright with the quality of youth and the money available. But as you say it depends on the the players - particularly strikers - we bring in.

I do feel that Phillipl and youself Mercerman have invested yourselvef so much in a bleak picture that your ability to judge has been compromised. You have to look at the facts on the ground as they happen and currently all the indicators are we are going to have a better close season than we have had in recent years where we have sold players and not been able to replace. This time it looks like we will have the money to do so which is a massive improvement.

Just to add my two-penneth to Kelbo's post.

Players, especially young ones, need to have a manager they are in awe of. Someone that has been there done it, or has a track record of success.

They will have little or no respect for a novice who is paid a fraction of the amount they are - particularly when their track record is of mistakes and defeats and BS.

Im glad at least some people agree with me. I know of about 8 people playing the same waiting game as me. We are all in agreement in what is coming out of the managers mouth is not god at all at the min. Saying he wants players like RSC & MBD is not a step forward in my opinion. I just hope like I have read somewhere else, that him saying that is a smoke screen and we have people working on the quiet to get us better players that those mentioned.

My view is if you support a football club and are in a position to get a season ticket - you get one. It is the club you support, not the owners or the manager. In every team there will be a player / that some supporters do not like, yet will still get behind them for the sake of the team as a whole.

That in my view is a simular situation. The club comes first before venkys ot Kean - the latter will not last for ever. Owners and managers and agents come and go. The survival of the club is dependant on its supporters - no supporters, no club. I cannot see a chant being sung of "Rovers till I die, dependant on who the owners and the manager are, Rovers till I die"

I'm still awaiting your reply to my post?

Or have you realised it's stupid of you not to renew your season tickets for the reasons you first stated?

No different to last season then, I know 10-15 seasoned Rovers fans that thought long and hard about renewing season tickets, but for very different reasons.

All but 1 finally did buy, same will apply this year, and the numbers will possibly increase with success in the transfer market.

No GAV, it only started this season because of Venky's and Steve Kean.

Exactly. And all this nonsense about Blackburn Rovers being taken out of Blackburn Rovers ...

When we went over to Ewood to renew our season tickets last week, unless I'm very much mistaken, there was still a smart football ground there with Blackburn Rovers FC on it. The Senior Training Centre and the Academy at Brockhall haven't disappeared into the night. Good Heavens, even Beamo is still there.

Look at Leeds Supporters. They haven't had a lot to sing about, particularly a few seasons ago when they were down in League 1, yet turn up and sing they did - and their season tickets were still more expensive than ours! Even Preston North End is reporting better season ticket sales ...

It's a new era for us, and it's early days. Mistakes have been made, and probably still will be, but then that's always been the case.

Where's your bottle? <_<:brfc:

To be fair mum, Leeds have a MASSIVE floating fanbase, yet struggle to get more than 23-24000 thousand per game, pretty poor really.

Anyway, I think a lot of people I talk to love the football club, but are sick and tired of the complete farce and disgracefully unfair modern game.

Their thoughts over the Phil Jones situation is 'what's the point?', 'what do the vast majority of clubs now exist for?'

For us it is to stay in the league at all costs- as falling out of it could be fatal. We are just making up the numbers while the elite get richer, take the best players, cement their place at the top and in the Champions League, get even richer, have the media eating out of their hands, turning heads of players at the other clubs who believe their career is worthless without the 'big move'.

Even our own most passionate fans would 'do the same if United came in for me'. Never mind trying to improve your own beloved club, because as we know it's impossible to achieve anything but midtable finishes.

Jesus, what a depressing situation. But, I'll be there next seaosn.

Love the club, HATE the game.

Is it only me who's noticed that supporting this club has been a million times more fun since these absolute chancers took over?

I'd like 'em to be a bit more mental, if anything.

No; I enjoy lurching from crisis to crisis too.

Has a certain feel of Delhi about it.

But these things simply are not a matter of debate. You are born Rovers there is no choice in the matter. I dont care who are the owners or the manager I will still be there, its in my blood and I cant help it. End of.
