rebelmswar Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I was sitting on a park bench yesterday contemplating a dead rat beside a rose. Looking at its frozen grin and its doll like eyes, I could not help but think of you. As it decays into the earth from which it came, so shall you eventually leave us, Leaving bones and a base stench that lingers, but will eventually be forgotten. The rose will remain however, and flouish with your passing.
den Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Very good Reb. I mean, if it was me you were talking about [it wasn't, was it?], I would be awfully offended. But seeing it isn't - very good.
Athlete Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I would NEVER bet against Rovers, but you've got to be honest, if you were an outsider looking in they look fantastic odds right now what with clueless owners and no leadership throughout the whole club. [/quote Corals 4/1
PAFELL Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 you have ruined our club please GO Best post of the week. Maybe it is time to start a protest on here - over to the mods to consider. About time the supporters of Rovers got heard, loud and clear. Venkys please sell the club, you are out of your depth.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Rovers will always play second fiddle to the Venky's main business,I feared this takeover would never bear fruit for our club and my fears have only been hightened since.

Athlete Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 1st home game v wolves..banners over hoardings ,etc
whalleyrover Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Protest outside LET offices and get Cryer and company onside1
PAFELL Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 1st home game v wolves..banners over hoardings ,etc It cannot be done during a season - as we still want the team to do well. Any protest is NOT with the players, but with the owners. Now is the time to protest, before the season starts.

PAFELL Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Yes I agree with that, but maybe covering the Venkys signs would cause a stir!! Protesting during the season causes its own problems, it effects the team performance on the pitch. Not something I would want to see happening. The players and what could be a possible weakened squad need the support of all the supporters. We get behind the team, not the owners. Whats the chant "we love Rovers, we hate venkys" I would not even buy a shirt with Venkys logo on it. We need somebody in the media who is willing to put into print the fustration of the supporters. This print needs to get to India - especially now with the indian 'show' coming up. It is not just about the transfer window or lack of tranfers - but the whole running of the club by the owners.

PAFELL Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 If the Indian show comes off!!!!!!!! I say this, if I was a player I would not want to even go. With the bombs. no way man.
Kelbo Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I say this, if I was a player I would not want to even go. With the bombs. no way man. I have heard that some players are not keen on travelling to India, trying to find out more!
PAFELL Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I have heard that some players are not keen on travelling to India, trying to find out more! Recently has there not been attacks on sport players. Coaches targeted etc? Me. I'd be shouting "stop the bus, I wanna get off"
den Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I have heard that some players are not keen on travelling to India, With good reason. Illness itself would normally put most clubs off travelling there. Having said that, it's a wonderful country, just not for footballers trying to gain fitness.

Was about to bump the "Protest!" thread and write something similar, but checked this thread first. Agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying. These are seemingly desperate times, and we as fans need to have our voices heard.
Nate Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I've not really posted anything about the Venky's either way, but after the sagas of this week I just had to. I'm so frustrated and angry about what Venky's are doing to the club. The stupid thing is, if they had of played their cards right, understood how things work and kept things how they were when they got here then built on it, the club could be successful in the long term. The big push in to India could be successful, but it has been pushed through too quick and has not been thought through properly in my honest opinion. But this is where we needed guys like John Williams to help take us there. We can't seem to lure any half decent footballer, especially one that can match the standard of calibre that Venky's want us to achieve. What will happen this season? I have absolutely no idea as I'm not a mind reader and I only get to read about the goings on in the club from the media, but I really do fear for this season.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I'm so frustrated and angry about what Venky's are doing to the club. The stupid thing is, if they had of played their cards right, understood how things work and kept things how they were when they got here then built on it, the club could be successful in the long term. Totally agree with that. I was fully behind them when they took over, things couldn't carry on as they were under the trust and I was pretty grateful someone was willing to take a gamble with what was always gonna be a very difficult club to grow. However I was expecting them to do little to change a structure that had brought 10 years of success against the odds, give us the financial backing to keep hold of our better players and help us become a regular top half side whilst slowly building up our fanbase and commercial sales in India. Instead we've got this mess. Complete overhaul of a system that worked, so far no meaningful investment, and quite a big step backward in terms of playing success. I've heard people blame the Trust for selling to them but at the end of the day you can do all the research you want into their finances (which still appear sound) but you can't predict exactly whats going on with the grey matter. Of course as it stands they've already made some money from Jones and will make even more if Samba goes, so maybe they are playing their cards right.

Maybe for a normal person but we are talking pampered little darlings here in a 5 star plus accomodation eating only what their club diet dictates.

philipl Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Maybe for a normal person but we are talking pampered little darlings here in a 5 star plus accomodation eating only what their club diet dictates. With a normal club that would be true. But Rovers are a club where "unnecessary overheads" are being slashed and that includes most of the people at Brockhall who would give that message. The Raos' reaction to receiving what you or I would understand as sound expert advice is to fire the person giving it and include a silence clause in the severance.
