niggit Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 would having Venkys as the main shirt sponsor not enable us to get round the new rules regarding only spending what you make? That is quite a good plan, if it was allowed with rules.
Hughesy Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 would having Venkys as the main shirt sponsor not enable us to get round the new rules regarding only spending what you make? Yes but they are probably worried because the fans would use it as a stick to beat them with. Its the way to do it though, id do it with a sponsor a board for about £10-15m a season and then the shirt is still open to sponsorship

Commondore Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Something like this?? Hope not, colours are wrong way round - but nice plain design (interesting how the colours look if sleeves match)....it is just someones fantasy design too If the shirt looks anything like that I'll be extremely pleased. It's very basic, not too much stuff going on with red details and differently colored sleeves. Also, wouldn't it be somewhat stupid of Venkys to put their own logo on the shirt since it would mean forfeiting £3 million quid or so that Rovers would have got from an outside sponsor?
pick32 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 £10-15m a season?! wasn't Crown our highest ever sponsorship with £5m over 3 years? Yes but what there trying to say is when the new rules come in we will have no transfer budget because you can only spend the profit you generate. So Venky's could get around this by offering us the budget in the sponsorship deal.
Claytons Left Boot Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 That's a cracking design - even the blue & white the other way round - reminds me of a certain team in Zurich.... I would be very happy with that and would be in the club shop like a shot.

cn174 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 See below.... Sponsor a board or something rather than the shirt so that we can still get extra for that. ok, but then why doesn't everyone do that? Is there anything to stop Glazer's 'sponsoring' Man U £300m/season or something daft like that?
Hughesy Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 ok, but then why doesn't everyone do that? Is there anything to stop Glazer's 'sponsoring' Man U £300m/season or something daft like that? Nothing at the moment, and you can gaurantee people will exploit it at 1st until they close the loophole down.
American Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 what I saw had that loophole closed down. Said sponsorships had to be at "market value" or some similar wording.
Ben-2000 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Is there any chance of getting one of these sponsorless shirts? Or is it likely that they'll just be impossible to get hold of? I'd buy one without any hesitation, can almost certainly say I won't be buying a sponsored shirt though.
Hughesy Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 what I saw had that loophole closed down. Said sponsorships had to be at "market value" or some similar wording. But how can they decide that? For example at the moment Liverpool get £12m a season off Adidas, next season they will be getting a record £25m per season off an american firm. Similar to us, we get about £1.7m a year off Crown, Venkys are pushing for £5m a season
BangkokRover Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Unless there has been a recent announcement my understanding is these rules have no set day for their introduction
Maverick Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Not sure what club kit this is for, but could this be a posible new away kit for Rovers??
Stuart Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Believe me when I say I'm biting my tongue and typing: that's a Glasgow Rangers away kit.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Yes but what there trying to say is when the new rules come in we will have no transfer budget because you can only spend the profit you generate. So Venky's could get around this by offering us the budget in the sponsorship deal. Well that's one way to keep the status quo!

Real and Barca are in massive debt, Man U are in massive debt but are ok as its the parent company that is in debt and not the club. Seriously who are these rules going to affect?

I thought Barcelona was split into shares and owned by the fans?
donis1410 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 i think it would look quite good in red, black and white or black red and white
Mattyblue Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 It would look crap in any colour(s) Why don't they just get an orange shirt and be done with it
BangkokRover Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I thought Barcelona was split into shares and owned by the fans? They are and they are still in debt. They had to take out a loan for players wages just before or at the start of this season.
