[Archived] New Shirt 2011/12

To clarify, I never suggested puce. That abomination came solely from the worms churning in rebelmswar's slighlty unbalanced (in a charming, curious, only occassionally pyschotically violent) way.

But I do think an halved pink/white, pink/blue jersey would sell well.

But I also think that orange (not gold or bronze, a real orange) would also do well. Orange/yellow, orange/red, orange/blue.

Perhaps we can combine the ideas? Halved pink and orange.

You must work for a design company.

HOW CAN YOU HAVE THE HOME COLOURS IN AN AWAY KIT!? IT DEFEATS THE POINT OF HAVING AN AWAY KIT! (just for emphasis).

We've done this several times in recent seasons - it's unbelievably stupid.

Home shirts generally stay the same and have decent sales because its the 'home' shirt.

And anyway im just repeating what has been said a million times before. Personally i think the novelty would soon wear off a halved away shirt.

Why would it? If people tuned in, saw a halved kit and immediately knew it was Blackburn Rovers that'd be awesome. It'd be distinctive if nothing else.

Are you by chance my wife in disguise? She likes to use the phrase "unbelievably stupid" also.

And if it were my decision, we'd wear blue and white halved kits home and away. It is by far the best shirt in the PL.

But I fail to see why a color used in the home kit cannot be used in the away kit. If the issue is to distinguish the squad from both our home kit and the opposition, I fail to see how using a color from the home kit (whether white or blue) hinders that objective, if used in moderation or otherwise sensibly.

The point of the Away Kit is to make sure there is no clash of colours example two teams where blue tops. Of course now its been turned in to a money making scheme for the clubs. So they where the away strip when they can to get more money from the fans. As an extreme example Tottenham having a different Sponsor on their Champions League Tops.

When we play WHU there will be no class of colours but I would not be surprised to see Rovers wear there away kit. Norwich as an example are one of the few teams who wear yellow and they are in the EPL next season but they will still have away tops. I can't think of any EPL that why class with but I am sure they will have the kit.

Is this really a concern? My understanding is that as a general rule, the home team wears a lighter color and the away team a darker color. While this is not always the case, the exceptions are dealt with by each club's third kit.

For example, the Rovers wear halved blue and white at home. How many PL teams would we conflict with away if we went with a solid royal blue shirt with white highlights? Personally (all jokes about pink aside), I think such a shirt would rock.

Anyone who plays in blue, in theory, Steve. We had a similar situation a couple of seasons ago - which I've already mentioned on this thread. That season our third kit was the "unsellable", "commercially suicidal", red and black halves Crown kit - and Crown's best looking shirt, ironically.

Generally with colour clashes, I think it's down to the referee. IIRC, Man Utd had to wear black shorts against Schalke last week to avoid wearing the same colour!

Arsenals is some sort of anniversary shirt, made out of plastic bottles apparently.

The actual design of B*rnleys isn't too bad Puma make decent kits.

And who wears blue at home? A precious few, as I understand it. ManC? Anyone else?

So I don't think an issue, personally.

I would like a dark green/black halved away kit :)

Actually, that would look good. :tu:

Chelsea, Birmingham, qpr if they come up, everton, Wigan off the top of my head. We need an away kit that is definitely not blue.

Didn't burnley have a green and black halved kit a few seasons go? No thanks, let stick to yellow and black, orange and black or red and black.

If the away is yellow with black trim and not yellow and black halves then I would guess it's either the same as the Livingston shirt or a yellow and black version of the Rangers shirt.

That yellow Livingston shirt looks like a goalkeeper jersey :/

Black with yellow would look neat.

Why is it that our kits are never revealed early? Sponsorship issues this year, I know, but generally Rovers shirts are always out late summer.
