[Archived] Rovers vs Bolton - Possibly our most important game in years

Recommended Posts

Amazing. We've just won our first match in what seems like aeons, in possibly the most important game in years, and yet people complain. Effin' fantastic stuff, lads. This was never going to be a pretty game, but it was CRUCIAL to get three points, no matter how we acquired said points.

These people made them comments durring the game when the players were missing chance after chance, look at the times of the quotes, obviously they are going to comment on it. You are never safe at 1-0.

You having a go at them for saying what 30,000 other people were thinking at the same time.

Anyone would think we don't practise shooting in training

We do, but we use empty nets hehe.

Fantastic result. I am just so happy...can finally watch match of the day (all thirty seconds of us).

Fantastic! At last! We have won a game under Kean. YippekayeeMF. Do we care that we hoofed it forward at every opportunity? Not a jot, 3 points over pretty triangles anyday for me.

And BANG goes the myth that Notlob play decent football under Coyle. Contenders for worst team to visit Ewood this season. Absolutely useless and just what we needed to end our dismal run.

What may slip from peoples minds is that Benjani is so behind in match fitness, just look at the amount of minutes he has played over the season. put a decent shift in though.

Jermaine Jones is a top top player, his vision to make the correct pass is impressive and he has tank of gas in him. If he could add a goal tally of 7-9 a season then he would be at a bigger club then Schakle. He wont be at us next season, he is to good for us and he knows it.

i agree p.jones was average but again he is learning with every minute and together with samba did brilliantly well to subdue Davies in the air.

Salgado was a true warrior putting his body in and taking the full brunt of it. if Venky's are wise, they will ask Salgado to be a oversea's ambassador for the club when his days come to an end. cant think of many people who has won more aswell as having the repuatation of Salgado at our club.

Big sigh of relief from everyone I think!!!

Massive massive three points...

However just a few points...

1 we played a side empty on gas - so true, they never, ever looked like scoring

2 we played big Sam football - it was a very poor imitation of Big Sam's football

3 there were some poor mgrl decisions - the man is, IMO, a joke and I'm dreading a week of pure, unadulterated bullsh!te

Thank goodness for 3 points - we now have enough to say-up, 38 points and and our goal difference will do the trick. That's the great news.

The bad news is that we were were absolute shyte. Our football was dreadful and an indictment on our manager. I would not want anyone to call Big Sam after witnessing such shyte.

I dont care how we play as long as we get 3 points like today..was good to keep a clean sheet also..

I did think it was cheap of emerton complaining to olson about a cross in the second half which didnt reach him...Emertons delivery of the ball into the box is shocking!

Much needed 3 points

Ollson was brilliant

The midfield/defence coped really well with their only tactic - hoof up to Davis.

Roberts/Banjo CANNOT finish.

Hopefully we can now get safe then get rid of Kean.

I don't think we were @#/? by any means, a few better final passes or finishes and we would have won that easily.

Good atmosphere as well today although I can't stand the Spurs version of 'When the Saints' that the DE seemed to be singing, it sounds horrible.

You could tell it really meant a lot to Robinson and Olsson at the end to get those 3 points.

how are people saying we played @#/?? I thought we played well considering the circumstances and could have won by three...

Though we were first to everything, I thihk everyone played to their potential.

Lack of quality infront of goals showed up though.

I'm sure our 40 million summer star signing will sort that out though.

What a relief .... dreadful football but the swirling wind did not help and the result, as always, is everything.

I wish our next 3 matches were against teams as demotivated as Bolton who looked to have packed up for the season. Unfortunately Bolton's next game is against Blackpool.

Hopefully results will go our way tomorrow.

Hope Olsson's injury is only minor and we desperately need Hoillet back. Is there any news on his injury ?

On a different note....was Ewood sold out today? Looked like it on the telly!

I thought it looked pretty full. Official attendance was 28,900 give or take. Couldn't pick out 3000 empty seats though.

Well done to each and every fan who came to Ewood today, you roared your team to victory. To those sat in front of your keyboards moaning about how bad we were, I've one word for you... meh!

Not sure my ticker can take much more of that though!!

I wouldn't have expected any other opinion from you but it is s usual completely wide of the mark in my view.

The first half I think was excellent considering the situation and amount of pressure we were under. We couldn't have asked for anything else in the circumstances apart from maybe another goal.

The second half was nervy, understandably so in the circumstances but with a better choice of final ball on a number of occasions, and without Mame and Nzonzi missing sitters at the death, we could have won by at least four goals.

Strange how a hard fought battling win under Sam is good tactics or management and under Kean it's "shyte"

Good performances from all today I thought apart from Benjani and Roberts (although their effort wasn't in doubt) J.Jones was particularly impressive and I thought Emerton who I've slated recently was 100% improved on his recent outings.

Spot on. If you CAN get yourself to Ewood, but don't, you've no right to complain imo. (I explicitly mean when you can get into the ground. I don't where you can, but for certain circumstances).

Btw, what's the status with Sally? I'm guessing his season's over, but what kind of injury if anyone knows?

Makes for funny reading when you scroll back a few pages after just getting in, I thought the lads played pretty well and some players like JJ and Olsson were top notch.

I did'nt understand the tactic of knock a long ball to Benjani who was probably the smallest player on the pitch when we had Santa Cruz on the bench, for me the sub was made just in time because the players had looked stale from the start of the second half we looked like we were going to concede.

Massive three points and a big up to every one of the fans today who shouted there hearts out, a sore throat beckons but who cares.

Eh? There used to be numerous posters on here who derided hard fought wins under Sam!

Anyways... I thought we played pretty well given the tension of the situation. But dear me, we need a decent striker!

On Radio Rovers he said it was 'nothing a beer couldn't fix'.

Sounds like he should be back for West Ham
