Not true though. The players are still behind the manager. Have it from a senior player. They know he's not allardyce, who they thought was great, but they are still playing for him because they like him and think he's good. This was not said for public consumption, as in the united front clubs try to get players to put up to newspapers, but in a private conversation where other things were said that were less than complimentary about other people, situations etc. therefore I assume that what I was told was true.

Would a senior player be disloyal to a manager to a member of the public ? I don't think so. From what I heard the players did not necessarily "like" Sam but they sure as hell respected him and played for him. It's often a warning sign when players say they like a manager because it means they are in a comfort zone, as they appear to be with Kean. I would suggest the improvement in the team's attitude in recent games has been down to the players realising their livelihoods are at stake, and some of them also feel a responsibiity towards the club and the fans. I don't think any of them of are doing it for the manager.

Jim where was the loyalty under Ince towards the fans, the fight for their futures? I would argue that it should have been more prevalent then as their wages would have suffered, as clauses have been removed for players that is no longer a consideration. The simple answer is usually the right one, they are playing for the manager.

I've no inside knowledge, all i can judge on is the effort being put in on the pitch.

apart from Villa and Everton away, the players have given it all. A combination of some good pros and a manager they like (if not repsect) is hopefully going to be enough in a fraught relegation battle.

however, start again in August with zero points and 'liking' Kean will not be enough.

Bunkum, as Den would say.

If they were playing for Kean how do you explain the inept performances and dire results since he took charge ? It's been pointed out by several posters that half time of the Blackpool match seems to have been a turning point when the players took the situation into their own hands, ignored the manager's instructions and played to the strengths they learnt under their previous boss. Kean says relegation has not been discussed in team meetings but you can sure as hell bet that the players have been discussing it among themselves and the impact it would have on the wages and lifestyles. It might be a cynical view but players are motivated by money and the prospect of a threat to their livelihood explains their improved battling performances of late than any loyalty to a lame-duck manager.

The bpool stuff is a load of old cobblers, I could easily have said Kean gave a rousing speech centred around Jack Walker and the club he built, at half-time, and that’s what fired up the players.

As for the players themselves, if they never worked again they'd be setup for life, so threat to livelihoods doesn't wash, and who has ever heard of a modern day footballer let alone team playing for pride and loyalty to the fans

Mr Kean deserves some respect Jim, but sadly he isn’t going to get it on here, then again I’m sure he’s losing no sleep over it.

Kean takes us from safety to the brink of relegation with 1 win since January and he deserves some respect! Yet Sam "had to go".

What a strange world you inhabit Gav.

Simple answers are usually the right ones Jim. You put the first team coach in charge of the team who has never been manager before and he is trying to change the way we play football- midseason, it isn't rocket science to see why it has not worked, however the players are clearly playing for him, even after a winless run of ten matches you can see the fire from the players and yes respect from the manager.

Well the table when Allardyce left tells a different story 47er but we've been here before. Kean does deserves some respect for keeping the player ‘at it’ despite our terrible run of form, don’t you agree?

I see you’ve aligned yourself with resident gob, now what a strange world you’ll soon find yourself in

Why does Kean 'deserve repsect' Gav?

For keeping the players 'at it' Matty, despite a terrible run of form, couldn't have been easy that.

There's a lot to be said for the manager getting us into this needless pickle in the first place.

He has a long way to go to convince me he's a decent manager.

More like a brown-nosing greasy-pole climber whose inept stewardship of the club has shown him up to be a chancer of the highest order.

Random question...

When will Wolves tickets go on sale?

Random answer:

Würzburg is a city in the region of Franconia which lies in the northern tip of Bavaria, Germany. Located at the Main River, it is the capital of the Regierungsbezirk region of Lower Franconia.

players would run through brick walls for Kean and that’s obvious to anyone who cares to open his/her eyes.

Who says it's for Kean though? It could be for the club/the fans/professional pride etc.

We've never been a team to lack team spirit. I guess you can give Kean a bit of credit for not knocking it out of them, but you can't give him credit for instilling it because it was already there.

Thankfully it looks like we can scrape through this season in tact (not taking anything for granted mind). Kean 100% still needs to leave in the summer though.

We have some good senior pros, Nelsen/Salgado/Robbo are very passionate and committed to the club/cause.

Sorry, but "Mr" Kean does not deserve any respect because of the situation the club finds itself in. The relegation fight we're in is all down to him - no one else.

If Rovers go unbeaten from now to the end of the season and stay up "Mr" Kean will have gone part of the way to redeeming himself but should still not be trusted to manage Rovers next season.

If we do go down I'll camp outside "Mr" Kean's house and make sure he gets no sleep for the next 6 months.

I strongly disagree with 'should' in there. Given our away form I don't think we can expect to win any of the two away games, and that only leaves Man Utd at home.

Luckily I think the odd draw will do, and I can see us getting a point from either West Ham or Wolves.

I think we're a good squad. I think our standing in the league is the result of bad managerial decisions. I think Wolves and West Ham suck. I believe we should be able to look at either fixture and say "we could get three points there." The fact that we're hoping for only a draw against one of the two tells me how demoralized we've become.

Whether we will or not is in the hands of the manager, players, fans and the football gods. I know at least one of the four is a factor against us. But that shouldn't stop us from targetting two wins.

Three actually. Why we write off ManU is beyond me. We should be targetting a win there also. Play to win, always. Otherwise you're looking to lose.

Now, let`s hammer West Ham & get the job done!!!! :tu:

Amen.

I think SAF would love to sink us as the Venky's sacked his mate,

There will be no holding back from Manu

Right on both counts. Just as we should not be holding back either. Let's spit in ManU's eye. :!:

Wasn't a random member of the public and it was on a night out among friends where you generally tell the truth. Whether you believe it or not, they do play for him. Yes, there are all the other reasons why and just playing for the manager isn't enough, however, as they proved under Ince, if they don't play for the manager then they often don't do as well. Kean still has them working for him whatever their motivation for it is.
