Heck, and thrice heck again!

Some people love keeping their axes sharp don't they, grind, grind, grind.

We'll find out soon enough I expect but if people are looking for someone to blame should Jones leave I'd suggest his initials are PJ (and, as far as I'm aware, his best mate isn't called Duncan).

People come out with a lot of tosh but you don't leave your own club at 19 unless you're pushed out of the door.

Depends what you class as 'your own club'.

And whether pushed or double your money pull is more to do with it....

Come the following days and summer months, fully hope to hear Stephen Kean saying that hes going to build a team around the likes of Phil Jones and that Jones is going to come out saying what a wonderful manager Kean is, and that we are all right behind him, and to put it the DGS way, I end up looking the biggest idiot on this planet.

Or more likely is Phil Jones leaves and it has nothing at all to do with Steve Kean as much as you wish it did.

GOOD LUCK IN U21'S TOURNAMENT PHIL! KEEP YOUR FOCUS N DO WHAT YOU DO BEST!

sorry to go off topic! just thought a bit of support for the young fella might be in order...

as far as transfer SPECULATION goes would love him to stay as we all would! he plays for rovers with a seeming vehement passion. not dissimilar to stevie G at the pool in his glory days! i'd love him to stay here and build a team with martin O, junior hO, robbO n dare i say sambO, in a purely ironic rhyming sense (no offence intended - i obviously mean samba - please edit this drivel mods as you see fit) and lest not forget the quality experienced heads we have in nelson, givet, emmo, peddo and dunn Oh i seem to have found myself handcuffed to an oompaloompO for the night! anyways it's 3 in morn,i'm drunkard n off to bedsO... however before i go

GOOD LUCK IN U21'S TOURNAMENT PHIL! KEEP YOUR FOCUS N DO WHAT YOU DO BEST!

I imagine there is a decent chance Phil reads this board being a young rovers supporter. If so.....

Phil, you're undoubtedly the best player Roves have produced since Damien Duff - better in my opinion - and you can go on to lead the best set of young players produced by the club since the late nineties, arguably an even more outstanding crop. There is nothing Rovers fans want to see more than you stay for a few more seasons and lead a Rovers side including the flourishing talent of yourself, Junior, Martin Olsson and Stephen Nzonzi.

Please consider staying, there is a profound feeling that we are on the cusp of a great team which can achieve more than previous Rovers squads. You're loved by the fans, seen as a representative of the terraces on the pitch, and the geatest boost to all who support Rovers this summer would be to see yourself, Junior and the other young talents remain at the club committed to the cause.

You'll succeed wherever you are but it would be great to see you do so with Rovers.

This article is interesting because it has us holding off for an auction between the top clubs and doesn't mention any contract clause. In fact it has Venkys possibly vetoing any transfer. I wish!

Also look at the brilliant players available to us if we sell him to Manure! These are my biggest fears--------we won't get the money he's worth, the owners won't allow it all to go on transfers in and Kean will waste it on has-beens and never-beens.

At least let's do to some lower teams what the top teams are doing to us and get some outstanding young talent with a sell-on potential.

You can tell by this post i think its over with Jones---he's off within a few days. Sickened.

'A season long loan back gives Man United an advantage'

Urgh, the very thought of having Jones loaned back to us for a season while he 'learns his trade' makes me want to retch.

I wouldn't have him.

If the rumours are true regarding Jones then it just goes to show there is little or no loyalty in football. Especially as the player in question is a boyhood fan of the club. With that in mind surely he would want to stay and try and improve the club rather than jumping ship at the first opportunity.

Its Wayne Rooney all over again-----except Everton got 30M. Clubs are canny enough to get him now before his true value is apparent to more than us.

It just seems odd a player who feared he was about to be sold against his wishes during the last window should instigate a move the next window.

Who said he thought he was going to be sold against his wishes?

I've never seen that anywhere other than on this site, which just goes to show how internet bunkum gets posted by someone claiming to know what’s going on, and is carried forward as fact by board members.

This is a perfect example, and I'm not having a go at you Aggy, you're only repeating what you've read.

It's my understanding at least some of the article was, stress WAS, either incorrect or pure speculation concerning the clubs more likely to sign the player. I don't at this point know if that has changed. Having been through all this in January and received all the relevant abuse one would expect I'm saying no more. MBers can judge me as a reckless rumour-monger or someone who tries to be level-headed in these matters.

There's a bunch of tossers on this messageboard.

Spot on

You repeat what you hear and get slagged, you repeat what you've read and get slagged.

There's a bunch of tossers on this messageboard.

and they seem to spend all their time making up lies lies and more lies about the manager, his players and the owners.

If you look at it from Jones point of view moving to one of these bigger teams does not come around often.

He could have an excellent season for Rovers and his value would rise and maybe the Bigger European teams will come knocking.

or

He could get injured and he has lost his chance.

As long as Rovers get a fair price we should all move on.

From the LT

It is understood the clause was inserted when the 19 year old signed an extension in January.

He met Kean yesterday morning and the player is believed to have told his manager he would like the opportunity to listen to clubs should they match the £16m valuation.

He is not desperate to leave east lancashire, Jones is ambitious and could see a move to one of the big guns as too great to turn down!!

He is 19! He will have every chance to play at the top level. And as for getting injured, he could do his cruciate on his Man Yoo debut and never play for them again.

Sure he is 19 but one injury and it's game over. When these chances come around you have to take them as you never know when they will happen again.
