Now read my post again, you are quite correct, so why arent the newspapers publishing anything regarding what occurred, that was my question, you are indeed correct, the red tops would be queuing up for the story, so again I reiterate, why??

Tris quite clearly states that the reason they're not reporting the story is, it’s a not a story, it’s made up, no story here, complete bunkum.

Miseryman, Jal, Phillip, Ginger Gordy and Jim - take a bow.

I'm not having Jim in that group DGS.

Where will Jones get playing time?

Current Depth Charts for centre defence at the big 6.

(If everyone is fully fit)

Man Utd - 1. Vidic 2. Rio 3. Smalling 4. Jones

Chelsea - 1. Terry 2. Luiz 3. Alex 4. Jones

Man City - 1. Kompany 2. Lescott 3. Jones 4. Boyata

Arsenal - 1. Vermaelen 2. Jones 3. Djourou 4. Koscielny

Spurs - 1. King 2. Dawson 3. Gallas 4. Jones

Liverpool - 1. Carragher 2. Skrtel 3. Jones 4. Agger

Maybe a move to Arsenal would suit him better than Liverpool?

He would play in that Arsenal team straight away and would be pushing for a starting place at Liverpool, with all the injuries at Spurs he would probably start there as well.

If the clause is to be activated-then Rovers best bet would be to sell to top 4 side ( eg. as a potential replacement for Rio in a couple of years) then make sure a loan back deal for 12 months is part of the deal-thus gaining us a settled 12 months more of Phil with no constant media unsettling. I'm sure Man U would consider it to be beneficial to them to have Phil Jones for the 2012-13 season having gained another season with us in the Premier League. Thus Rovers get 16 million to add to spending pot immediately and get to keep Jones for a year. Apologies if its all been said before-hard to keep up with many threads overlapping.

Jesus nobody on here knows what hes thinking - why do you all have to state things as fact when you don't know.

Jones is a Rovers Fan - Fact

Big clubs are interesting - Fact (well as close as you can get)

Hence lots of speculation in the press - some maybe true some may not. Who knows? Probally not even PJ.

-----

Good luck in with the U21s Phil. I hope you stay with Rovers.

I am a massive Rovers fan, most of you on here are passionate blues.

Is Jones, REALLY?

He might be a fan, but i dont blame him for putting his career first. Playing with better players, and wether we like it or not, more chance of international recognition, will turn most peoples heads.

Indeed, but hes 19, plenty time ahead.

I unedrstand this oportunity may not come again, but if hes good enough now, he'll still be good enough in a year or two.

Man U No chance to start.

Chelsea Terry is on his way down now. Terrible end of the season. What little speed he had has deserted him. So maybe he could team up with Luiz.

Man City Might be able to push Lescott again doubtful.

Arsenal Vermelen is the only true DC they have so he would team up Jones.

Spurs King great player just rarely fit. Dawson and Jones could be the future England centre of defence.

Liverpool This is the interesting one. Carragher again like Terry on way down. Skrtel would not get in the Rovers defence. So again he could start with Carragher

Well if you can prove any of the stories I've questioned I'll be the first one to hold my hands up and apologies Kelbo, can’t say any fairer than that :tu:

But the opportunity to literally choose which of the top clubs in the country he joins may never come again. If he stays another year, they might change their managers to people who don't fancy him; they might buy someone else in the meantime who steps up; he might get badly injured. It really is the chance of a lifetime for him.

I find the notion that he would turn down Wenger, Kenny, and Fergy if we had, say, McClaren as manager to be ludicrous.

Jones won't be as big a rovers fan as we are on here. Neither was dunn, neither are any players. While most of us gave up on the pro dream at about 12-13 and started living vicariously through our rovers heroes, these guys carried the playing side right through. That means supporter loyalties always come second to them, throughout their teens saturday afternoons were spent playing rather than watching and the same bond to rovers just won't develope. Jones being a casual fan won't have any bearing on his decision unfortunately.

You know what, the more I think about it the less bothered about him leaving I’m getting, we can’t do anything about it. Very much like if we’d have been relegated, I’d still have bought my season ticket and gone down.

The modern day footballer is so far detached from the working man/woman that the feelings amongst his fellow supporters, and neighbours, wouldn’t even enter his head, so why should I give a ****.

The last time I felt really let down by a player was when Shearer left, I said after that I’d not get wound up by one again, and lets face it Jones is no Alan Shearer and the club isn’t the same beast it was back then.

16m is allot of money, if they invest half of that back into the squad we’ll have done well.

As for Mr Jones, if you do leave, remember the grass isn’t always greener; we could list numerous players that have failed when walking out of Ewood, so you’ve been warned.

A real shame if Jones leaves.

Matty- agree 100%, a real fan would give us at least another season, maybe two. He still needs PL games under his belt, will he get them at United or Chelsea?

16 million will only look good IF

1. The money is used on transfers

2. Used to purchase decent players- RSC and MBD are not that IMO.

Finally if PJ had not signed a new deal in January how much would we be looking at now, 8 milion? 10 million? A quiet word from an agent, a mysterious injury and boom he is gone (recall something like this happened with Bentley).

I understand that, I do, just miffed to say the least.
