Billy Castell Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Is there actually a release clause, or is it just a rumour the papers have circulated?
super_arran Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 There are lots on LET site, I have read Roberts,MGP, Hoilett and Olsson say positive things about Kean. They're telling lies so they can get in the starting line up! It's called buttering up the manager. As I recall during one home game; Pedersen was seen handing an apple to Kean and without a moments hesitation Kean thanked him and told him to "strip off!" and "get on that pitch ya wee bonny bast&&d!" It's quite disgusting how our club has changed. VENKYS (and Kean) OUT!
BPF Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Be a good test of BPF's sources. Guess it's time to wait and see. Although he managed to get out of the previous 'rafa dead cert, signed contract' stuff fairly easily. PhillipL has also been very quiet recently? Wonder what he's up to. Hello Ricky, Sorry I have been quiet recently. I'm getting increasingly closer to the big move and it is clashing horribly with the completion of my training. Although this is unlikely to be a popular answer, I have to stand by my Rafa story. I was informed about him being offered the contract and I was also told on the day that he pulled out and ran a mile (not literally of course). Also for the record, I don't have it from my sources that Jones is going to Manchester United. I just thought it was the most likely option. Anyway, maybe I did get away with some stuff fairly lightly and I am disappointed that it didn't happen but the sequence of events has been told to me from a number of different people. But for what it is worth, I apologise. I'm disappointed too.

Backroom Tom Posted June 7, 2011 Backroom Posted June 7, 2011 Why did Rafa pull out of rovers deal? Because he didn't want the job.
BPF Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Why did Rafa pull out of rovers deal? It would be impossible to answer that Chaddy without acknowledging the potential that most of the 'news' surrounding this is conjecture. The story goes that Rafa found out 'something' about Venkys that made him get cold feet.

Billy Castell Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Is this the 'something' Phillipl keeps on mentioning without giving evidence for apparent legal reasons? And is this clause in Jones' contract real? As a replacement, Bassong, Mexes (who is on a Bosman) or even Upson would do. We'll end up with Titus Bramble if anyone.

Billy Castell Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I have no idea. If he is over 30, then probably, since Milan have loved having loads of defenders at least that age.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Why do I get the horrible feeling that If Jones does depart for 16 Million we will only see a fraction of that re-invested into the team. The Rao's must feel like Kids in a sweet shop with all these Millions flying around...what was their company's entire profit margin last year again? I'm sure you know where I'm coming from folks!

Hughesy Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 No club has yet reached the clause. His preferred option is playing games over the price.....
chocky Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 No club has yet reached the clause. His preferred option is playing games over the price..... You're right. There is a lot on nonsence being written on here. The only way Jones will leave is if he wants to go. Even if the magical £16,000,000 is offered he will only leave if it's right for him. Whether it's money or a bigger club that's his decision. All this rubbish that Venkey's want to sell him to take the money out of the club is just rubbish. If you want to ask questions of where transfer money went to ask the Walker trust.
jim mk2 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 All this rubbish that Venkey's want to sell him to take the money out of the club is just rubbish. Let's wait and see shall we ?
roversmum Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Most probably don't think that, I don't. I guess it's just disappointment that Phil might leave so soon, I was quite expecting him to leave next year but looking forward to what he might be able to help achieve for us in the coming season. But if suitors are being encouraged it's more than likely he will go sooner rather than later. Whether that will be a good for him personally will be found out in due course. As for Venky's, I'm not thinking they will take the money, just concerned that the right players are purchased with it.
roverwhelmed Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 It sounds like he is taking a battering on twitter and facebook from his girlfriend's comments. I get that people are disappointed (as I am) at the thought of the lad leaving, but abusing him isn't exactly going to keep him on side...
Mercer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 As someone mentioned earlier: jw was still in charge in january.. If you really believe that............

John Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Whilst your better players always appear to move on these days, Jones has not played enough not to feel hard done by if he does leave this summer - whoever agreed to the £16 million clause has sold us short IMO, especially when you see Liverpool apparently bidding £20 million for Henderson of Sunderland. I know it is easy to shrug the shoulders and say we will sign someone to replace him, but in my view, he is a class act and pleasure to watch him play - whilst I accept it is the reality of modern day football it will be painful if he leaves, this summer, after such a short stint playing in the first team.
roverwhelmed Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 whats his twitter? @ph1lj0nes @kaya_star is his girlfriend's, so there's snippets on there at times too...

He isnt though - people are just saying stay for 1 more season etc, nobody being unreasonable. She RT that from a jumped up little fan of his All of Phils mates know where is off though
Ricky Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I know people are referring to Henderson and saying that as he's going for £20m jones should be going for more. I bet Sunderland fans are saying the opposite though and that liverpool should be paying more for Henderson. Attacking players always go for more money, it's a simple fact.
Mercer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Liverpool will be a superb choice for Jones. Dalglish has a fantastic presence and aura whilst Steve Clarke is a first rate coach with a track record to match and both of them will ensure that Jones progresses at a rapid rate of knots. Dalglish & Clarke v. Stephen Kean and Jensen. Hmmm!
