If Jones did end up at Man U, would he have a clause in his contract stating he would be obliged to have a go on Rhodri Giggs' missus, perform an act upon himself on a webcam or bang a granny?

Better than Ferdinand? I would wager that if fit Ferdinand will start all key games this season ahead of PJ, he needs to concentrate on getting ahead of Smalling next season not Ferdinand!

Smallings distribution is poor compared to Jones, Vidic pulled Ferdinand out of the mire so many times last season it was unreal.

No, but I wouldn't be surprised if his "Can't wait to be a WAG" girlfriend soon finds herself surplus to requirements.

If true then its excellent that we have gotten a club record fee for a 19 year old who has played about 40 games for the club, however good he is/will become. Its the principle of it all as well that finally we havent bent over on a sale.

That took an age to load. At least it shows that if you hold your ground you'll get more. 20 1/2 million for an unproven 19 year old is great business. Venkey's offering 80,000 a week shows they tried hard to keep him but they were on a road to nowhere with that. But big bucks to spend.

I am still none the wiser as to what's going on and what's going to happen but reading from multiple sources it does seem to be going the right way ... for us.

It's admirable what Venky's are doing but I hope that the club can conclude things soon so that the task of building a squad for the forthcoming season can commence.

While I am sure most people will be happy with Rovers and Venkey's stance on this, I do hope they have spoken to Jones. I know as a person I would not like being told that I could not go and work for certain company.

Can't be a bad thing if we can get a bidding war started now, suggest we should sell to highest bidder. No point keeping hold of him even if we could, as he's going to be unsettled after what has gone on and everything.

He has two choices:

1 Go to the highest bidder

2 Stay put

There's no way anyone can force a deal through to a lower bid

Well he can refuse to play, but the problem for Jones is we don't have any important games till August so it is hard for him to exert leverage. Players have less power over the summer than they do in January when it is crucial to keep them on side.

I'd be suprised if he wants to go to Liverpool. No Champions League football or UEFA football in the upcoming season and miles behind the likes of MAN U, Chelsea and City.

Just saying that if Jones is set on Man Utd, that's where he'll end up. Might get very messy, but he wont go where Venky's want him to go - which is what the article implies.

The reason why he can go to Man Utd for less than Liverpool are prepared to pay is because he's already been allowed to talk to Man Utd, agree terms and have his medical.
