I am afraid he will sign RSC, in fact I understand he told RSC he would give him a permanent deal some time back, now for the proof merchants, I obviously cant name names, what I can say is I PM a member on this Messageboard some time back with this information and no it wasnt the people you may think either, sometimes I do this so I can chuckle to myself when people who like to knock back anything posted here without Proof!!

I reiterate what I said yesterday when we speak about proof, would Nicko divulge where he got all his info from?

That will be a very very dark day for Rovers unless he arrives for a very low fee and is signed up on pay as you play contract.

Duff and Roque both went for more than the £16.5 million release clause. I wonder what the fee is exactly then?

That 'potential' word sticks out like a sore thumb on second read.

Surely that heavily implies that whatever is taking it above the £18 million we got for Roque is 'add-on' based. We might not see that money for years if it's England caps, trophies etc.

What's our current record fee received? £18m for Roque? Sounds like we squeezed what we could out of 'em.

Well done Venky's for sticking it to the man!

So just exactly what is the transfer fee please.

The fee was probably kept undisclosed so United could save face.

Fact of the matter is it's obvious we've received more than the original release clause, which is a bonus, natch.

Why not?

It's very reasonable that both parties decided to keep the fee undisclosed for their own interests.

Of course, had Rovers announced the fee in all its glory, you'd probably excuse them of naively broadcasting our transfer kitty to the rest of the world.

The entire world knows that we got at least 16 million in our pocket. How much more harm can be done?

"They received 16 million for Jones, lets sell them our player for 5 million. Whats that? They actually got 19.5?! Well in that case the price is 10 million."

absolutely right, topman. in addition to more money.. we've wound united up, showed we are no push-overs and our owners have shown great strength and genius in the phrasing of the clause.

there wont be much praising of the owners or any rejoicing but there should be! :rover:

victory for venkys and blackburn rovers!

United refused to budge on fee according to PA.

UNITED CLINCH JONES DEAL

By Simon Stone, Press Association Sport Chief Football Writer

Manchester United have confirmed the capture of Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones on a five-year deal.

United thought they had secured Jones' services last week, only for the transfer to be halted due to an unforeseen snag.

It was claimed Rovers were holding out for more cash and that Liverpool had jumped in with a £20million offer.

However, Jones, who featured for England Under-21's in their opening European Championship match against Spain in Denmark last night, apparently told Rovers he did not wish to join any other club than United.

And with the Red Devils refusing to budge beyond the figure - believed to be £16.5million - that triggered a buyout clause in the 19-year-old's contract, Blacburn have been forced to agree a sale.

``Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones,'' said a United statement.

``The player passed a medical in Manchester last week and has agreed a five-year contract.

``The deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty.'' mfl

not sure selling Jones is really a victory, but central defenders aren't the high priced glory boys. If Jones becomes the next stalwart for ManU's backline. It'll look like a poor piece of business in 10 years. If he does his knee again in 2 years and ManU are chasing insurance monies, then its a great piece of business at whatever the undisclosed fee.

The fact that it can rise above 17 or 18 million means its right around the valuation most of us on here had put on Jones to start the off season (weren't most folks saying it'd be hard not to take 20 mil... which is basically where we are at here...)

Sad to see him go, good luck to the lad. If he scores a header at Ewood next year, I hope he'd not kiss the ManU badge.

Whining about undisclosed fees seems petulant to me. Sure the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists looking for evil in every action can make it out to be an attempt to asset strip the club, but given the acrimonious dealing, I'd rather undisclose the fee and keep on decent terms with ManU. Big Sam having good speaking terms with fergie helped us get Mame Diouf (who was good for a few games at least). ManU always has a stable of young potential talent. if undisclosing the fee keeps our owner/management on decent enough terms to keep the load pipeline open, I'm good with that.

Actually, the United PA doesn't mention the fee either. The writer of the article talks about the fee, but didn;t have any quotes for the fee to back it up...

just sayin'

*waits for the interview*

"I really loved my time at Blackburn, I'd like to thank all the supporters, but..."

"ive always been a Man United fan" or something along those lines, followed by kissing the badge at some point next season.

Ah well, glad it's all finally gone through and we can look to move forward.
