The manager himself has said its over 20 million but dont get little things like that get in the way of your Vendetta

You seem to forget that each poster has their own views on the owners as well as the manager or anything else. Everybody is allowed their say - but to say somebody has a vendetta because their view is different to yours or maybe some others, bit much in my view.

I do not know if you or others have noticed, but it is only those who are for the owners who have been doing the slagging of other posters (stand to be corrected if I am in error) But people such as myself who have said we have no confidence in the owners, have just posted our views. Which I believe we are entitled to do so. Want to disbelieve or accept the view, equally permitted.

Standing up to Man U and if it goes ahead the appointment of the bloke from Hull are two positive steps by the owners. I hope they continue making positive steps - becasue if they get things right, the club will be a success. Which I believe we all want on here. No matter which side of the owners / manager debate we are on. But credit given when deserved, two positive steps recently.

Does he really believe this BS??

I dont know whats more scary - the prospect that he believes it, or that the owners believe him when he tells such monumental whoppers.

The cash outlay that the owners would have to throw at this team to achieve that makes me (who wouldn't have to cough up the cash) nauseous. Unless he has some master plan that involves printing money, getting into a Champions League spot is going to cost more money than we have ever thought of spending.

Reality check is needed in Pune, or a really big cheque.

The sad thing is that Jones has somehow become convinced that this move had to happen now ("once in a lifetime") but this could easily have been a move in two or three years. He's only 19, FFS!

What I find most distressing though is this:

Does he really believe this BS??

Got to keep the Chicken Overlords happy, I mean remember we are getting Beckham, Romario etc etc.

And manager who can win more than 28% of his games.

I guess we are in for a really really long season. :(

Steve Kean gets all kinds of stick on here, some of it justified.

Surely we shouldn't be having a go at him for showing a bit of ambition and daring to aim for champions league football. If the height of our ambition is mid table mediocrity, why do we bother.

To hell with realism, we'll invest the money wisely, Formica and Rochina will turn into world beaters and we will be the next Barcelona

I like ambition too. Better than the "We are only llittle Rovers and should feel priviledged to be among the giants of English football" brigade. You don't want to play for Rovers then fook off. It was galling though watching him sign that United shirt before the deal actually went through.

JAL- PJ has not completed a season with us, we nursed him back from a horrible injury- who was paying his wages then, who has developed him since the age of 11?

Could not turn down a dream move! He is 19- Charlie Adam I can understand but Jones? As a Rovers fan he owed us at least one more season.

A question, how many people on this MB who love Rovers with all their hearts would have joined a 'big club' in PJ's position? I can honestly say that I would not have gone any where for at least 4-5 seasons.

Lets draw a line under it all imy9, and look forward to the new players who are going to come in and make a positive difference to Rovers chances.

Great post Pafell, agree if the guy from Hull is appointed it would be a huge step forward, how would his stance against agents be viewed, perhaps the owners have seen the fees over the last window, but he is exactly what the club needs.

United refused to budge on fee according to PA.

UNITED CLINCH JONES DEAL

By Simon Stone, Press Association Sport Chief Football Writer

However, Jones, who featured for England Under-21's in their opening European Championship ... and with the Red Devils refusing to budge beyond the figure ... Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones,'' said a United statement ... the deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty.

I'm really trying to stay positive and not fall back into the trap of fruitless criticism but ... really! This cannot be right!!

It's not enough that we bend over and get rogered the first time on the cash deal now we have to take all the risk of injury whilst he's playing in a tournament?!

Injured and he's our concern, unscathed and he's Manures.

Can we really negotiate our way out of a wet paper bag. Surely we refuse him permission to play and pass the ball to Manure. If they want him to play then they can bl**dy well sign him now.

Talk about bend over and unclench. Yes sir. FFS.

I am planning to JAL, but let's not be under the illusion that Venkys or Kean at fault here, they have shown their cards by offering Jones the biggest contract at the club- getting an extra 4 million shows that they are smart people and not village idiots. Let's hope that the money is spent wisely.

Was thinking exactly the same. Well almost exactly!

Don't think we can refuse permission to play though.

Too right, I would NEVER have gone near Man Yoo or LFC. I would only have left Rovers to play abroad.

Posters on here who live and sleep Rovers saying 'you can't turn down Man U' Eh? Course you bloody can, they mean bugger all to me. As aspiring youngster I dreamt of playing for the Rovers.

Hate those clubs intently. But, these players arent like us.

Personally I hope he does what Berg did and comes back to play for us.

Cheers

BKR

When he's old and crap? No ta.

He had his chance to play for his boyhood club. Obviously it wasn't something that held his interest. That door should be shut to him now.

Honestly I would have joined United in the same circumstances, people posted on here he could get a serious injury during the next couple of years at Rovers and the chance never appears again, likewise a dip in form, confidence or whatever would scupper his chances, my guess is that SAF has sold Jones on the idea that both he and Chris Smalling will be the future of Man U defence, they play together for the under 21s and they talk, perhaps by speaking to Smalling turned his head a bit but really and truly, I would have made the move, please remember, a footballer is doing a job like the rest of us and the prospects for his career development is far greater than at Rovers.

I may be wrong here but doesn't the u21 tournament end in a couple of weeks and the transfer window opens July 1st, so a deal cannot be completed until then, even though all the legal things have been completed.

``Phil wants to play Champions League football now and we're not at that level.``

The excuse that players use when they can't be bothered with you anymore is Champions League football. It was the reason that Rooney used when he left Everton in the lurch and Phil Jones will do the same no doubt. Why do you have to be playing Champions League football at 19? Just a sickening reminder of what football has become.

Exactly Roy.

The CL cartel has ruined any semblance of competiiton in the game.

I'm disappointed he's gone but don't blame him. I'm very disappointed we didn't get more money for him because I think he's worth more.

I wish Phil Jones all the best. He has done the right thing in furthering his career.

One positive note is that maybe Grant Hanley now will get the chance to shine. I'm looking forward to that.

Yeah and if he does well, we can give him a five year deal and hope that he's a future captain for club and country. Until the Champions League comes calling.

Excellent post PAFELL. I've been aware for several months those who post in favour of the Venky's / Raos ultimately resort to rudeness, insults and derogatory remarks directed at anyone who expresses an alternate view. It has always been my experience that if one needs to stoop to this level it is an indication of the poverty of one's argument.

I've been pleased to see the club has attempted to increase the Jones price. It does seem to have been unsuccessful but at least an effort was made.

On balance Jones was always going to leave at some point and we may be better off having the cash now? One thing that does worry me is Kean's suggestion we will be a CL Club in years to come. That is real fantasy time!!!!
