BuckyRover Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Most galling thing that no one has commented om is Phil Jones comments that he loved his time at Blackburn but that training and playing at MU is at a much higher tempo. wtf is that all about? Tempo as with general fitness costs nothing and imo is indicative of poor training methods. Everything at Man Utd will be more intense. It's hardly going to be more chilled out is it?

waggy Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 said it before he reminds me of BOBBY MOORE,he better get his dad to build a extension for his trophys, the fool who put a 16 million clause in his contract needs shooting
Eddie Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 What about the fool who put an 8 million clause in his first contract?
den Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Everything at Man Utd will be more intense. It's hardly going to be more chilled out is it? He didn't say "intense", he said the training was at a much higher tempo. Totally different.
Amo Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 He didn't say "intense", he said the training was at a much higher tempo. Totally different. Higher standard of player and coaching. So.... duh?
Mattyblue Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Eh? If a PL football club can't put on training sessions of a high quality and tempo and get their players fit and in shape, what's the point of us even bothering?
Amo Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Eh? If a PL football club can't put on training sessions of a high quality and tempo and get their players fit and in shape, what's the point of us even bothering? Man. United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, they have a different class of player and some of the best coaches money can buy. So of course training is going to be a 'higher tempo' than at Rovers. There's nothing to discuss here.
Mattyblue Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Man Utd have better players, manager and coaches. Nobody is going to argue with that. However, Jones looks to be a stone lighter at United, that is a very poor showing from Brockhall. We can't replicate their quality, but we can replicate their fitness levels, surely?

That's down to the tempo that the coach demands. All coaches dictate the tempo of the training sessions. Nothing to stop Hartlepool having high tempo training sessions. We can't replicate their quality, but we can replicate their fitness levels, surely? any manager, in any league would tell you that Mattheaus.
Sparky Marky Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 This is actually a good point. In my opinion we do look heavy and lacking real movement. Dunn, Roberts, Hanley, Salgado(he should retire now), Pedersen, Emerton and at times Nelsen are all too slow and in some cases, not fit enough. The problem we have is that these will be the "voices" in the dressing room...the ones that bang the drum so to speak..Older and with more influence within the club as a whole....Kean will be keeping this little lot as happy as he possibly can cos he wants to keep his job. We're on the road to ruin as it stands today....

Anyone would think Phil Jones was a butterball before he went to United. what has a higher class of player got do with the tempo of training? That's down to the tempo that the coach demands. All coaches dictate the tempo of the training sessions. What do you think will be more demanding for Jones, playing with the likes of Rooney & Nani or playing with Jason Roberts & Keith Andrews?
broadsword Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 It's how you try to compete with the bigger clubs, you try to at least reach their levels of fitness, if not beat them. It's something Hughes put a lot of emphasis on. Do you think we can't train at the same intensity of Man Utd because we don't have the same amount of money? Do you think our players are running around in gummies and string vests, having a sugarry tea and a fag after their exertions?
den Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 What do you think will be more demanding for Jones, playing with the likes of Rooney & Nani or playing with Jason Roberts & Keith Andrews? We're talking about the tempo of the training sessions. Tell me practically, why rovers training sessions can't be as high a tempo.
BiggusLaddus Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 All this based on the choice of phrase used by a teenaged footballer? It is quite possible that Phil Jones doesn't know what the word tempo means.

BiggusLaddus Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Whatever, this whole page has been a tedious exercise in semantics and minutiae based on a single word said by a Manchester United footballer.
Amo Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 We're talking about the tempo of the training sessions. Tell me practically, why rovers training sessions can't be as high a tempo. I've made my point. Jones is training with a different class of player. We're not just talking about fitness regimes, here. We're talking about everyday training, five-a-side games, passing exercises, it's going to be a higher tempo when you're surrounded with better players.

We're talking about everyday training, five-a-side games, passing exercises, it's going to be a higher tempo when you're surrounded with better players. The tempo of a training session can be raised or lowered by the demands of the coach. The quality of the session might suffer when applied to inferior players, but the tempo can be matched. What Jones is saying here, is that Rovers don't put as much into training as Man Utd do. Pretty obvious he's saying that I would have thought. Whatever, this whole page has been a tedious exercise in semantics and minutiae based on a single word said by a Manchester United footballer. It's tedious if you're not interested in what players have to say about differences in training between two clubs. It's topical because of the posters who thought that Rovers players didn't look fit enough in the first home game against Wolves.
BiggusLaddus Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 He's only been there for pre- and early season training. I strongly suspect that his training regime will become less physically demanding as the season progresses and as it does, Phil Jones' perception of an average day at Carrington will change. Besides that, he's hardly likely to say "yeah, this utd lark is a piece of ######!".
broadsword Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 First it was semantics, now it's perceptions. Yeah, that must be it. He's got the memory of a goldfish.
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 This is a load of absolute rubbish. Phil Jones to RFW "boss I've only been here 5 minutes but I've got to tell you , you're training methods are ######!" Get a life fellas.
BiggusLaddus Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 First it was semantics, now it's perceptions. Yeah, that must be it. He's got the memory of a goldfish. As Kean has only been in charge since mid season and Jones has only been at MU through preseason, then if he is making a valid comparison between the two he can only be comparing it to Sam's training style. So which is it? Is Jones disengenuously comparing mid-late season training here with preseason there, or is he comparing RFW to Sam, or is this all a load of nonsense being blown out of all proportion as a young, starry-eyed new arrival tries to ingratiate himself with his new boss?

I would agree den and even last night we didnt look sharp apart from ther first 15 mins, the goals could well have slowed the tempo though. As for Man U, they only have 15 passing drills and they are worked on all the time!
