Amo Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 It is right to say the extra £9m wouldn't have made any difference to our transfer budget - it would gone straight in the Pune Building Society extra interest savings account. That's precisely my point, Jim. The money never went back into the squad, anyway. And even if it did, we'd be still stuck with Kean on a one-way ticket to The Championship. High time people moved on from this.

perthblue02 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 This Mark Signing who does he play for ? heard he's a late developer and will be the next Beckham? cost around 400k + 1.6m agent fee but will need time to settle in, apparently not signed yet cause he's a sensitive little soul and the clubs supporters are being nasty to a manager he rates very highly

So following that logic we may as well have just given him away then Topman? The Venkeys were done up like kippers. I suspect that this will happen time and again before they wise up.

I suspect that this will happen time and again before they wise up. The release clause was present from the previous management- we have a history of inserting them. One of the biggest stumbling points in Junior not signing is the fact that Venkys refuse to have a release clause in his contract, Samba does not have one either. One decent thing Venkys have done IMO I hate release clauses.

Mike Graham Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Just scored again ( versus Basle) twice in two games. Btw: his Dad works as a fireman for the Springfields Site fire brigade.....nice chap.
roverandout Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 johnny evans is the weak link in that united defence, the amount of times hes given the ball away, united look seriously weak at the back this season.

Backroom Tom Posted December 7, 2011 Backroom Posted December 7, 2011 Unfortunately for Jones united look a worse team since he joined. Not his fault but they miss scholes, ferndinand is past it and Rooney isn't performing
Amo Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Unfortunately for Jones united look a worse team since he joined. Not his fault but they miss scholes, ferndinand is past it and Rooney isn't performing Yet people will just blame the goalie.
roverandout Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 preston blue, even with that ###### defence i dont think we will beat them
Hughesy Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Went to win Trophies, out of the league cup to Palace, Champs league to Basel, soon the FA Cup to City, and 5pts behind in league. Should have stayed 1 more year
den Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Went to win Trophies, out of the league cup to Palace, Champs league to Basel, soon the FA Cup to City, and 5pts behind in league. Should have stayed 1 more year Why? - to play in our reserves Hughesy?
Pedro Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Unfortunately for Jones united look a worse team since he joined. Not his fault but they miss scholes, ferndinand is past it and Rooney isn't performing I think that their time is finally up now. City are buying top quality and Utd's team needs loads doing to it to become great again. I'm a massive fan of Jones but Utd's team is littered with players beyond their best or just of average quality. (A bit rich coming from a Rovers fan I know )
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Went to win Trophies, out of the league cup to Palace, Champs league to Basel, soon the FA Cup to City, and 5pts behind in league. Should have stayed 1 more year He's already won the Community Shield, stands a fighting chance of winning the league, Europa Cup and Fa Cup. He's now virtually guaranteed to get on the plane to Euro 2012 and isn't far from being an England regular. I dont think he'd have got that much from Blackburn.. I wish he hadn't left, but I considering the opportunity he had, I dont blame him for taking it. You cant just expect Man Utd to roll around every year.
Paul Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Went to win Trophies, out of the league cup to Palace, Champs league to Basel, soon the FA Cup to City, and 5pts behind in league. Should have stayed 1 more year He's had a brilliant start to his united career and I'm really pleased for him. He's a decent young man who has worked hard for what he's got. He was going to waste his chances at Ewood.
Andy Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Agreed. I've said before, but 9 times out of 10 a Blackburn player will not turn down Man Utd - and nor should they. Phil's had a good first season with them so far, winning one minor trophy, playing in the Champions League and is sure to be playing in the Euro Champs at the end of the season. Another season with Rovers (particularly one like this season) and the only offers he'd maybe have were from teams like Newcastle and Sunderland.
Hughesy Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 It was tongue in cheek - get off your high horses!
thenodrog Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Another season with Rovers (particularly one like this season) and the only offers he'd maybe have were from teams like Newcastle and Sunderland. Rubbish. As Lawrenson said last spring "Phil Jones is a Rolls Royce". Maybe he doesn't catch the eye with his trickery as a Ronaldo or a Silva or a Messi do but I'm sure that other managers and people who know football from the nuts and bolts up will covet him more than any others. Jones's only dilemma (as is Fergy's) is being equally good in a number of positions CH , Full back / defensive midfield all in one. In fact I'd go so far as to say that if there were 3 Phil Jones's then Capello (and Fergy) would pick them all! Name me any other player in the world that that would ever apply to? How many others do you know like that? Now that Vidic is injured I'd wager Jones will drop to CH and Fletcher will get the nod in midfield. Personally whilst he is young and seeing the job he did on the all conquering Spanish midfield I'd plumb for playing him there. Plenty of time for him to drop to CH should his physique naturally thicken up at the expense of his speed. I said in the summer that it would not be long before he was compared to Duncan Edwards and it's already happening.
Sparky Marky Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I think Jones looks a jack of all trades master of none. Would have thought fergie would have dropped him back to CH when Vidic went off. Evans just looks soft and is a wet arse in my opinion. Id have brought valencia on and put him attacking...rooney a bit deeper in middle.

Living stateside you should give the Glasers a call Marky.... Fergy can't go on forever.
LeftWinger Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 "Phil wants to play Champions League football and he wants to play it now. We're not at that level yet but I'm sure we will be in the coming years" Steve Kean. I'm sure United will be at that level in the coming years too!
Parsonblue Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Went to win Trophies, out of the league cup to Palace, Champs league to Basel, soon the FA Cup to City, and 5pts behind in league. Should have stayed 1 more year Of course he should. He could have had all the fun of a team dumped out of the League Cup by Cardiff. Enjoy being bottom of the Premier League and then have the thrill of being relegated. Why on earth would he give all that up for a contract at Old Trafford and a place in the England team?
bluebruce Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I personally consider it obvious that we wouldn't be in this poor a position with Phil Jones in the team.
