A couple of interesting stats

Rovers have been ahead 13 times at HT and never lost

United have been ahead 20 times at HT and lost 1

Rovers have been drawing @ HT more than any team, with 20 – only 2 of which we have turned into wins

United have only been behind 4 times at HT (Best record in league) and lost, 2nd best is Rovers who have only been behind 5 times at HT

Rovers have failed to find the net in 10 games, United have failed in 5

Rovers have also failed to score more than 3 in any game this season, United having put 4, 5 and 7 past teams

I'm surprisingly confident of getting a draw out of this one. I thought we were great against the Hammers, if not a bit clumsy so I think that gives us a lot to believe in. Besides which, we were very unfortunate against City just recently and controlled the wanderers last time out down here.

I will, however, have to disagree with anybody who thinks our only chance is if United don't turn up for fear of missing the Champions League Final. Firstly, United will definitely turn up and we'll have to be at our best to get the result and secondly, we are more than capable of getting at least a point from this match anyway.

It's great to see the lads looking so relaxed and buzzing in the press though, they seem much calmer than the rest of us, but in truth, I think it shows their focus and their intention to guarantee safety at Ewood this weekend.

Bearing all that in mind, I'm going for a 0-0 scoreline and i'll put my fifty pence on it ;)

I sure hope we get a win tomorrow... Maybe then my ulcers will have time to heal before next season.. These past couple of months.. But i guess most of you guys have it the same way.

I was actually sorta pleased last week when scum u beat Chelsea and more or less secured their 19th title. Never in my life i thought i would be happy about such a thing. But the small hope that they won't be going 100% into this game needing a huge goal margin to secure the title on goal difference is about the only thing that relaxes me a little.

So i´ll follow my heart and go for a 1-0 victory with an early Pedersen strike(top-left corner, 25 yards out).

Have met 3 United supporters over the last couple of days on separate occasions, one whose organisation is very closely linked and as such enjoys certain 'privileges'. What came across is that yes, they are very confident but not 'cocksure'. Feeling was that Fergie would want to do it 'in style' and that Sam's sacking was still festering.

Three decent blokes who, I must confess, have heightened my concern.

It could be a difficult afternoon.

You're really struggling for "bad news" items to troll about at the moment aren't you with two good results recently, Hoillet back, the Club subsidising tickets for the Wolves game, and the LT running a story with the owners quoted as saying Kean doesn't have to sell any star players in the summer.

Yesterday "Ther'll be United fans on the hill behind the Riverside"and today "United do the best Corporate packages in the world and my mate is so far up Fergie's backside he thinks they're up for it"

Shock horror. What next,"We're doomed because my other bessie mate lives next to Paddy Crerand and he thinks they're going to win 5-0"

Still you got a(nother) bite off me so well done.

Manu has been on TV every week this year either on ESPN2 or FSC. Tired of seeing them. The positive this week is of course being able to watch Rovers. I just bought a used Rovers 94-95 or 95-96 era McEwan's jersey on ebay for $59 counting the shipping. Has two buttons and loops at the collar. I'll be wearing that on Saturday.

We're due to beat them. We have a tendency to give them trouble at Ewood. Home League scores against Manu since we returned to the EPL:

2001/02 - 2-2

2002/03 - 1-0

2003/04 - 1-0

2004/05 - 1-1

2005/06 - 4-3

2006/07 - 0-1

2007/08 - 1-1

2008/09 - 0-2

2009/10 - 0-0

We've taken 13 points to their 10 in those matches. 11 the first five years only 2 that last four. Safety is obviously the most important thing but, it sure would be nice to nick a goal at the end of the match to win 1-0 or 2-1. Manu will probably crowd their defensive end and try to counter attack. We may be wise to be a little conservative also. At least for the first half. Maybe Rovers will be inspired and play like a Champions League side and shock the world. Cause the world will be watching. C'MON ROVERS!!!

This talk of hoping SAF fields a weakened team, pining for a draw, distresses me. It implies that we are weak and can only survive if SAF has mercy on us, or if we get lucky.

We should not be playing to draw, or hope SAF thinks kindly of us. Playing for a draw is playing to lose. Expecting consideration from SAF is both weak and a fool's hope.

ManU can be beaten and we should play for a win. Go at the hard. Play a physical game. Make ManU think they'll have easier pickings next week and back off. Fight to win, and push ManU into a bitter, hard fought game which would only favor us, psychologicaly.

Emerton - Samba - P. Jones - Givet

Hoilett - J. Jones - N'Zonzi - Olsson

Let's be honest and take off the blue and white blinkers, that's probably correct.

On the game I would be surprised if United rest players, they have 2 weeks after this game to prepare for the Champions League. If they are going to rest players it's going to be the Blackpool game.

Unfortunately I have a bad throat and will not be able to sing/shout directions and advice to the Referee/Manager.

This could be an advantage as they always do the opposite of what I suggest for some reason ...

however;

That's confidence for you - no 'keeper against the Champions elect! :o;)

Seriously though; having been at the WHam game last weekend, I'd be happy with that outfield 10, although I suspect the manager will probably pick Roberts and A.N.Other [benjani?] up front. Presumably, M.B.Diouf can't play against them.

united's away record gives me hope. poorest record of any previous champions.

2 down at blackpool, and west ham and we are definetly tighter at the back than those teams now!

also wonder if fergie will fool everyone.

he might play his weakest team tomorrow as we are stronger in the tackle than blackpool. fergie knows jones and nzonzi are very combattive and the tackles will be flying in.

Definately, he's good mates with Holloway, he'll rest them once they have won the league against us. He'll want to slaughter us tomorrow.

United will definitely come with three central midfielders, I think that is just asking for trouble, even with N'Zonzi's and Jones' blossoming partnership.

I'd go with everything else though, just I'd replace one of the strikers for Pedersen. He's had some good games against them in the past, maybe it will jog his memory that he used to be good.

Our Man U supporting friend will not be bothering us again.

I do not recommend that anyone buys tickets for another individual if they do not know them. The club will have your details on record if they cause any trouble and it will be you they come after/ban.

I had to check it out because when I was going to England one of the users on this messageboard (Roverthemoon) was a really nice chap and helped me out with tickets for the away match against Stoke a couple of years ago. Also a game in the relegation scrap where you needed some buying history which I didnt have.

This guy is scum though so no need to care about him, but one of the best thing about being a Rover is the welcome and generousity when we are travelling abroad to watch games either at Ewood or away.

Really starting to look forward to the game tomorrow.

If Allardyce was still here, I'd have been buying United fans tickets left right and centre, hoping for that lifetime ban Modes :D

*Doughnut

and yes you are.

Welcome on board Newbie, nice to see you've tuned into the prevailing content free abuse mode so effortlessly.

The manager is a there to be criticised, it goes with the territory. I've criticed him, so what, for me it was a stupid decision. Looking at the general lack of managerial awareness exhibited since his appointment this just one more example of his inexperience.

Hoilett has been sidelined with an injury, he didn't look sharp in the last match so I guess he could break down again if pushed into service too quickly. Not sure why praising the skill of one player is seen as disrespecting any other player CaliRoverNYC but there you are.

As far as needing gametime elwaxo, well fair comment but ... if a 100% Hoilett's a doubt and we need Rochina at least from the subs bench then why play him in the reserves in a hard semi final against ManU so close to our survival match. Gametime versus player protection, it's calls like this that mark out a manager rather than a coach.

'Fringe first teamer' magicalmortensleftpeg? Yes he is but no he shouldn't be. He's a good skillful striker who has been banging them in for the second string when he should have been given the chance to bang them in for the first. Are Roberts and Roque playing that well to keep him out? He's a fringe player because the manager has deemed him so. Yet this fringe player bangs in two against ManU.

The manager makes bad calls IMO. Injuring a class player so close to a survival match is poor decision making and taken with the rest of his decisions, player selection, tactics etc then yes I think Donut is an appropriate sobriquet.

'Toodling' as you only seem to understand insults F*** You and come back when you've got something constructive to offer.
