Backroom Tom Posted May 14, 2011 Backroom Share Posted May 14, 2011 To be fair you wouldn't expect him not to play after scoring at weekend. Weren't you previously moaning that Niko was dropped after scoring?
Tyrone Shoelaces
Probably as good as it gets really, pretty workmanlike side. We should be capabable of keeping the tempo up and making a game of it. It's a must we start off at high tempo, let them settle into their usual style and we're asking for trouble.
Kamy100
United Team: Kuszack, Fabio, Vidic, Rio, Evans, Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Chicharito
joey_big_nose
Rovers: Robbo, Salgado, Givet, Samba, P Jones, Olsson, Nzonzi, J Jones, Emerton, Hoilett, Roberts Yep, as strong as we could be with the only position Id debate is the striker. To be honest Roberts deserves his place. He has done decently and worries the centrebacks. I guess the line up could work out one of two ways:- -----------------------Robinson Salgado----Samba-----Givet------Olsson ---------------P Jones-----Nzonzi --------Emerton-----J Jones----Hoilett ------------------------Roberts or:- -----------------------Robinson Salgado----Samba-----P Jones------GIvet ---------------J Jones-----Nzonzi -------Emerton-----Hoilett-------Olsson ----------------------Roberts Depends whether Kean wants to emphasise solidarity in back line or midfield. Either way the key offensive players will be Olsson and Hoilett. Encouraging for the future as if you get a top striker in there it is probably our best team in terms of talent since the days of Hughes. Already looking forward to next season. Weren't you previously moaning that Niko was dropped after scoring? Niko was dropped after scoring 4 goals in 6 games. That was Roberts' second goal in his last 23 games. Billy Castell
I'd have gone 'stuff it' and went with a pretty attacking team: Robinson Salgado/Samba/Nelsen/Givet J. Jones/P. Jones Hoilett/Pedersen/Olsson Kalinic

Either way the key offensive players will be Olsson and Hoilett. Could change between the two if circumstances call for it. We need somebody who can keep Valencia quiet, pretty sure Olsson's not good enough for that role. We need Givet to give him a "quietener" early on. I'd have gone 'stuff it' and went with a pretty attacking team: Robinson Salgado/Samba/Nelsen/Givet J. Jones/P. Jones Hoilett/Pedersen/Olsson Kalinic Mm, that looks risky to me, if Peds and Kalinic don't get into the game straight away we'll get over run. Plus the fact I don't think they'd let Nelsen play in crutches.
Backroom Tom Posted May 14, 2011 Backroom Share Posted May 14, 2011 United Team: Kuszack, Fabio, Vidic, Rio, Evans, Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Chicharito I just don't see any way to stop that team, scary going forward.
Billy Castell
Forgot Nelsen is injured. OK, the revised team: Robinson Salgado/Samba/P.Jones/Givet J. Jones/N'Zonzi Hoilett*/Pedersen/Olsson Kalinic *=Evans as left back could be exploited by Hoilett. I'm not sure I'd quite throw in Rochina from the start, or swap Pedersen for Formica. Hard game for the either to prove himself.
booth
I can't go to the match as I'm in France, but myself and my colleague (who is also a Rovers fan) Ian Wiggins, will be watching the match at Cannes Film Festival! What a surreal experience this will be. No doubt loads of plastic Mancs there... Would love to cause an upset and me and Wiggy the only ones celebrating. LeChuck
Roberts Ordinarily I'd agree, but whoever we play is awful at the moment. He's probably the best of a bad bunch, and I've never said that in his time here so far.

Hard game for the either to prove himself. I was just about to say that. Its a very strong United team going forward but I think their weak link will be Evams at full back. If we can get one of Olsson or Hoilett running at him we might just get a bit of luck hopefully.

One of the main reasons we are where we are in the league.

And ordinarily I'd agree, were it not for the fact there's one striker who's barely been given a chance in the last 3 months. I'd pick Benjani over Roberts too.
