He left his leg down for sure and went down professionally but not really played for cos it was the result of a crap 1st touch.

Yeah, happens all the time, one of the reasons my love affair with football is heading for the rocks. Be nice if Barcelona can return the compliment.

So to use another example if someone balloons it way over the bar then is body checked and taken out by the keeper a second or two later it is not a penalty if it happens to have gone over the bye line, but it is if hasn't?.

Again I disagree because the ball is effectively dead. I have never heard of officials getting their heads together to decide if the ball was still in play before and itt strikes me of a case today of the officials getting together and bending the interpretation of the rules to suit their purposes.

Penalty, United get their point, they're happy and we would have been happy as well had results elsewhere gone differently.

That's a bad example. If someone balloons it over the bar, chances are it would've already gone over the bar/bye line by the time the keeper came to make his challenge - if the challenge was initiated after the ball went over the bar. It takes much less than a couple of seconds for a shot hit from inside the area to go over the bar. However, if that player was illegally tackled whilst making the shot it'd be a penalty - even if the shot then went over the bar.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_ball#Association_football

In association football, the term "dead ball" refers to a situation when the ball is not in play, e.g. when play has not been restarted after the ball has gone out of bounds or a foul has been committed. It also applies before each kick-off, either at the start of each half or after a goal has been scored.

http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/glossary/g/Dead-Ball.htm

Definition: A situation when the ball is not in play, e.g. when a ball has gone over the line for a goal kick, corner or throw-in, or when a free-kick has been awarded.

There's no such thing as "effectively dead". Either it's in play and all fouls count, or it's out of play and no fouls count. Making contact with a man without touching the ball is usually classed as a foul. The ball wasn't dead.

Referees regularly ask their assistants about decisions. He simply didn't have that great a view of the incident whilst his linesman was closer to the action. He wouldve seen whether contact was made, whether Robbo got any of the ball and whether it was in play all much better than the referee.

Stewards at the Rovers are issued with a pager. They are directly instructed not to intervene in confrontations but to seek assistance via the device. Any interventions are conducted by colleagues who respond to the call. Stewards are not expected to become involved in confrontations alone.

The problems inside the ground today appeared to originate because of the numbers of opposition supporters in the ground. This seems to have stretched the resources of the club.

It also has to be said that the response of Rovers fans to the presence of United supporters was not a credit to the club. Many were aggressive towards individual stewards who were blamed for not intervening when actually they were following instructions passed on directly from high up within the club hierarchy.

I witnessed physical aggression between Rovers fans and physical intimidation of stewards. As one of the 'spineless' ones, and a Rovers fan for forty odd years to boot, I was frankly shocked by the mob mentality amongst sections of the crowd in the Jack Walker. For example, getting four United fans out of the stand wasn't enough for some Rovers fans. One pursued me down the steps to aggressively challenge why I hadn't got them out sooner. In common with the other fans who vented their anger in my direction, I asked him to complain about my conduct directly to the club, and invited him to take down my ID name and number. Strangely, when this offer was made, he and the other complainants immediately walked away.

I am not using a pseudonym on this site. I work in the Jack Walker Upper, (right, Blackburn End). I strongly suggest anyone who has complaints should contact the club to make a formal complaint. I will gladly comply.

Attack you with a flask did they

At least they made a bit of noise for a change

Credit to the manager for picking the right team and playing the right formation - 4-5-1. He even got the substitutions right for once, although the injuries pretty well sorted those out.

Credit too for all the players who ran their socks off and in particular to JJ, who, although guilty of a few misplaced passes gave us some of the momentum that we needed.

So we could get a draw next week and still go down - if I've got that right. Anyone got todays programme? Then keep it because it could be our last ever game in the Premier League.

Oh and credit to for Phil Dowd as well, for one of the most one sided refereeing displays I've seen. Not for the penalty decision, but for allowing United to get away scott free, for things that merited a yellow card the other way. He seemed to approach the game with a "dirty Blackburn wont be allowed to kick Man U off the park today" attitude.

Very good point, perhaps the sight of Vidic running towards them screaming tilted the decision in their favour.

Givet got red carded for that at Fulham, and he wasn't even playing ...

United players surround the linesman and are ushered away. Rovers players surround the linesman and the yellow card comes out before you can bob's your uncle.

What an absolutely disgusting way to win the league, what a bunch of chicken $hits. Couldn't even be bothered to take on a team worth 1% of their squad in the last 10 mins. Cowards, Southern supported $hites, so glad Manchester is not geographically considered to be Lancashire any more. The Red Scum can have their pi$$ant 19 Leagues, the one we had 16 years ago was worth 19 million of their bullshit, chickenshit, ref bribing one they took today - they will never feel or understand what we have achieved. end of story, long live the Rovers.

It's a penalty, just look at Robbo he knows straight away he's got done there and messed up. The goal would have come either way I'm pretty sure of that, also pretty sure there would have been more than 3 minutes injury time had they not.

Still chuckling that people were so convinced that they were going to batter us for Sam.

Chuffed with the point I can't not be, imagine we had gone down 3-0 or worse and the other results remained the same, we'd then have to beat Wolves to go above them and a point for Blackpool would take them above us should we lose.

Yes is was a pen, Robo just blew is transfer to United there.

Well done boys though pretty good display.

Happy to be playing Wolves final game, if we go down we deserve it.

Think we'll win though at Wolves, we are a better team.

I feel a bit gutted with the result, at 12.45 if you had asked me if I woud have taken a point then I would of said yes, but the fact we took the lead and were unlucky not to get a second after Olsson hit the post.

After watching the penalty several times I still think that Hernandez was already going to ground before Robinson got to him, he seen the keeper coming and made the decision to go down even though his first touch was poor and the ball was going out of play, also if the assistant had thought it was a penalty why didnt he flag for it.

If Kean says that to the players, or any of them genuinely believe it, we're defiantly going down. Mark my words, McCarthys men will be going for a win until the final whistle. They will NOT settle for a draw like Utd did today and will attack until the end.

funny how Emerton has never been as good as he was the first game he had against Wolves.

Maybe its time Emerton ends what he starts and bag a brace.

We are better then Wolves, I fancy our chances.

Depending on results a draw might keep both teams up. Alternatively, the losing team might go down. Would either take the risk?

Passed united coaches from Ireland and Oxford on the way home :-) None from Manchester though.

Though we played very well, and apart from Nani's header in first few minutes Robbo had nothing to do until the penalty. A point was more than deserved.

Man of the match goes to Phil Dowd for his single-handed domination of the game.

have we ever gone into the last game of the season at the risk of getting relegated in th PL (excluding 1999 when we were already relegated anyway)

Pretty sure the answer is No. Always been safe by now.

What is Wolves home record like? Or is it a case of form going out of the window due to what is at stake....

Won 8 drawn 4 lost 6. goals for 28 goals against 27.

Our away form Won3 drawn 3 lost 12 goals for goals for 21 goals against 41.

Not really sure this is relevant, both teams have picked up a bit recently. Our problem is and has been all season- scoring more than 1 goal per game.

I along with most I think, would have gladly taken a point before the game. There are some frustrated posts referring to Dowd, the Manure fans in our areas and the managers tactics.

At the end of the day with having time to take it all in I am so happy with the point. That 1 point could well prove to be crucial come next week. The last ten minutes of Utd passing around at the back, happy to take a point without us trying to win the ball made me angry at the time but I have now come to the conclusion that it said more of their fear of us grabbing a winner than our fear of them breaking away and grabbing one themselves. In the course of the game we had by far the best chances. Rovers played well.

I do not like infiltration in our areas of the ground, especially when it involves Manure. We as a club seem to constantly touch our forelock to the so called big clubs and give them exactly what they want. This above everything else causes the hatred of their fans in our seats. There is a massive difference when we go to Old Trafford for example. If you stand up you are ejected by one of their gorillas. Stewards not employed by Manure but a private security firm. They don’t need to confer with their supervisors before wielding the axe.

And the fact we are allocated a miserly amount of tickets at an astronomical price yet allow them to take over the whole of the Darwen end, standing up throughout the match at reasonable prices. If we get two thousand tickets then give them the same at Ewood. Get tough Rovers.

Now to Dowd and the rest of the chronically bad referees in the premiership. His bias today regarding yellow cards beggars belief (or does it, I feel the same every week). I would love to see the day when the referee’s assessor had the power to change the ref at half time when it is obvious he has made a complete ass of himself in the first half.

Would it not be wonderful to have it announced at the start of the second half that “Mister Dowd has been replaced by the fourth official Mr.?”and that Dowd, in this instance, would have to stand on the touch line as fourth official, where he could be berated by the fans at close hand.

I felt frustrated really because we were winning the game and had it snatched from us with a penalty, deserved or not, it was Manure so in my book they must have cheated.

MOTD tonight will, I have no doubt, tell us the penalty was justified and we were lucky and we are still in the mire etc. etc. etc.

No one like us- we don’t care.

Which was a problem for Wolves as well until recently, 6 goals in their last two games. Doyle their best striker was on the bench today after a few weeks out, he should be starting against us I would imagine.

Going away to Wolves requiring a result could be very difficult.
