Why is Kalanic playing this evening for the reserves' playoff match rather than being kept available for saturday's match?

Maybe to gain some match fitness

Beat them saturday and then they will put a full strength side out against Blackpool - simples!!

Play a tough, physical game on saturday and you will see some of their players wimp out of challenges anyway with the champs league in thier mind.

Beat them Saturday and I don't care what team they put out - and it'll make the Wolves trip just a little bit more relaxing.

Reserves 2-0 up, Rochina again. He'd be starting on Saturday for me, playing behind the front man:

.............................Robbo

Salgado.....Samba.....P Jones.....Givet

................J Jones.......N'Zonzi

Hoilett............Rochina.............Olsson

............Hmmmmm. Roberts?

Gives us a solid backline, with a pacy, attacking front 4.

You have to pick Roberts on current form.

ozzie normally has the answers to these so I'm sure hell respond at some point.

For the life of me I can't remember the play off home game with Watford (think the scoreline says it all) but remember the away one very clearly - Gav did you arrive on time as we didn't and there where quite a few Rovers outside still trying to get in?

What surprises me is how close to the ground the Manxman appears on this picture

Wasn't it 0-0 and we went through on away goals. I also was at the Vicaridge Rd return match - went bonkers when Garner scored early on.

Anyway, as to Sat - there are no easy games against MAn Yoo so I don't care who SAF picks. We just need to be totally up for it, lucky and them holding back that few % looking ahead to Wembley

The picture is indeed from the Peter White book and contains the description "a vital promotion battle"

It's almost certainly the play off first leg v Chelsea in May 1988.

It cannot be any other season because the Riverside would have a roof.

Excellent pic, never seen that before. The exit at the back looks like the one now...

Any pics of the 'brand new' Riverside when it was re-built...? Was it slightly different to how it is now (i remember slight differences at the sides of it and a few extra seats put in when the rest of the ground was developed)

Would take a point now but the message to the players early on Saturday should be simple, loud and clear:

"Gerrin to em"

A few hard tackles early on in the game and I think we may see their lot back off a bit in terms of commitment because of their "showpiece" final at Wembley in a couple of weeks time.

So go on lads...Get stuck in! :rover:

I think we are likely to go for the power central trio that we used against Arsenal to try and dominate the midfield in this one. I reckon:-

---------------------Robinson

Salgado----Samba------Givet------Olsson

---------------P Jones-----Nzonzi

----Emerton-------J Jones-------Hoilett

-----------------------Roberts

Basically look to compete hard in midfield, keep the shape, and counter down the left hand side through Olsson and Hoilett.

feeling confident now! Levante needed a point against Barca to reach 40 points, and thus stay up. Barca needed a point to win the title, Levante was at home. in the end a point was enough for both teams. the signs are good lol

I would love to be as positive as you are. Talking to some united supporters last night in the after hours office (pub). They want a victory at ewood park. They do not want to risk the possiblity of throwing it away. But more importantly - Rovers cost them the title last season - that hurts. Rovers winning the title still hurts them. Lifting the premier league trophy at ewood park and possible helping Rovers to go down, would be a delight to a lot of united supporters. But a lot depends on what Rovers team turns up.

Remember that game well, Chelsea just toyed with us, by far the better side, we never stood a chance.

But we did them in Full Members cup on route to the final.

Rather him say that than 'We will get beat'

Had a chuckle at this chant from City fans to United

'You've got a sh*t scarf

You've got a sh*t scarf

F**k off back to Norwich

and take your sh*t scarf!'

To the tune of this season favourite Beach Boys song, Sloop John B.

Just in the same vein as Blackpool sing

Don't wanna go home

Don't wanna go home

This is the best trip

I've ever been on
