Tyrone - the first thing to understand about road cycling is that despite the fact that individuals win races, it’s very much a team sport. In any grand tour there are only a handful of riders that can win, even though there may be better all round riders in the race. For years Peter Sagan was the best rider in the world but he could never win the Tour. Likewise Mark Cavendish could either despite being probably the world’s best ever sprinter. Quote
