barry_ Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 The Blackburn Rovers manager, Steve Kean, is to appear in court next month after being charged with drink-driving hours after his side's draw against Manchester United. Kean was stopped by police officers in Cheshire on Saturday night and provided a positive breath test. He was subsequently released on bail and will be free to take charge of Blackburn's crucial Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. Cheshire police said: "At 8.50pm on Saturday 14 May, Cheshire officers stopped a Mercedes car on the M6 southbound carriageway, between Junction 18 and 19. The driver, a 43-year-old man, provided a positive breath test. He was subsequently charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and bailed to appear at Crewe magistrates' court next month."

Mercer Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Somebody needs to give Andy Cryer a call to awake him from his slumbers !!!!!!
Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Innocent until proven guilty. But how often are people proven not guilty after a positive breath test? I've been against sacking him for continuity reasons - the last thing we need is more instability and there's no replacement lined up - but if he's convicted of this then IMHO he's got to go.

Wind your neck in, Norris.
RovertheHill Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 The guy is thicker than I thought. There was an outside chance he'd hang on to his job if he keeps us up. Not now - odds on he's out at the end of the season
patrickvalery Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Must be confusing for him. His usual travel arrangements with British Airways business class allows him to drink until the sacred cows come home. IF this is true, then he is his own worst enemy. Silly sod.
Hughesy Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Love the dramatic title in CAPS!! Big deal, ANYONE can make that mistake, some choose to take that risk, others dont.
Mattyblue Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Love the dramatic title in CAPS!! Big deal, ANYONE can make that mistake, some choose to take that risk, others dont. Eh? No issue with it then Hughesy lad?
Exiled_Rover Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Drink driving is inexcusable. It also gives us a nice handy excuse to sack him at the end of the season.
Hughesy Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Im not saying its acceptable....but the way the drama is on here its like he's a serial rapist or something. Personally id never drink drive, but thousands/ millions of others have. He will get whatever he deserves for his crime, end of. Jeez!
Mercer Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 IF Kean is a real man, he'll plead guilty, take the punishment on the chin and NOT try to worm his way out of it. However, I'm almost certain that there will be 'mitigating circumstances' and a 'big name' lawyer will attempt to get him out of this hole.

Your club's manager being charged with drink driving days before the club's biggest game in years is a 'drama'.
cruz Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Will his licence have more points than he as accumulated for Rovers?
Balwer Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Come on Hughesy, drink drivers aren't just a danger to themselves but to the hundreds of motorists and pedestrians they can potentially come into contact with. If true then it sends a very poor message about what kind of a club we are.

Backroom DE. Posted May 16, 2011 Backroom Posted May 16, 2011 What an idiot. Another reason, as if anybody really needed any more, for him to get the hell out of this club the moment the season ends. Disgraceful

Christ, it's like you get a hard-on every time Kean's name is mentioned in a derogatory manner and you can't wait to join in. Was it you who filmed yourself asking him when he was goin to resign? He's been caught drink driving, inexcusable. But to keep goin on with yourself is plain daft. Would you expect everyone/anyone to get sacked if they were caught drink driving?

Yes its wrong, yes its not ideal - but its hardly 'strangeway' material! 2nd bit - its the manager not the club. Diouf did the same, as have several different players. Seriously like others have said - he does the crime, hopefully he takes the punishment - end of.

Drink driving wrecks lives, I think its fair enough for people to voice their concerns over this.
cn174 Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 But to keep goin on with yourself is plain daft. Would you expect everyone/anyone to get sacked if they were caught drink driving? There are many people in jobs who would get sacked straight away should they get charged with drink driving.
super_arran Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 There are many people in jobs who would get sacked straight away should they get charged with drink driving. Bus drivers
