Majiball Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Iv already told you - like for like sales, we are WAY down on last season. Im not allowed to release the figure but it is substantial....like I said - I just hope some signings can pursuade a few more to join up again. PS just to add a sacking or two might help as well, provided the replacements aren't the people asking for the lowest wage.

Hughesy Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 I think the reasons so far will mainly be based on unemployment/ job security, followed by uncertainty over signings and vision – then followed by lack of info such as new shirts, sponsors etc. It would help massively if Venkys came out and told us all clearly their vision for the future and how they intend to get us to the champions league or whatever they say.

We have the cheapest tickets in the whole league by a mile, if areas like Wigan, Bolton all show similar trends then I'll believe you but I remember last season and am sure plenty of others do. Perhaps some signings will help things out, but they've played a dangerous game so far and now the rewards will be reaped. Venky's coming out and telling us their vision won't do anything, now they need to show us their intentions and at present it seems Myles Anderson and Tony Warner will fire us into the elite.

Think the unemployment / job security is a red herring as existed last year. I think the main reason is general dissatisfaction with what's happened since the takeover in terms of results, management changes, apparent lack of strategy and absolutely diabolical conmmunication. Supporters just can't see where we are trying to get and how we are trying to get there. Everything, so far, seems to have been a retrograde step with alleged chaos behind the scenes. Many on this MB have warned about the writing being on the wall for months. Turning this around, IMO, will be neither quick nor easy, akin to an oil tanker turning. So much appears to have been wantonly and unnecesarily destroyed. Yesterday, I renewed my tickets, however, my wife questioned my sanity - my heart simply ruled my head.

Surely you could give a general %age change, or say when you last heard the figures.

How will that alleviate unemployment/job security exactly Hughesy? Answer is it wont. And if it did then ST's are down for a different reason for which the Venkey mob only need look in a mirror to apportion blame. No doubt their next move will be to try to sign some ageing superstar has been in the mistaken impression that we will be as mindnumbingly starstruck as they are.
AndyNeil Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Missed your post on that Hughesy. Surely you could give a general %age change, or say when you last heard the figures. When I popped into the town centre shop of Wednesday morning, the lady behind the counter said they had sold about 8 or 9, hopefully she meant thousand
den Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 When I popped into the town centre shop of Wednesday morning, the lady behind the counter said they had sold about 8 or 9, hopefully she meant thousand Yeah, let's hope she meant thousand. It's not a laughing matter though, if she's right about those figures. 9 thousand ST's sold would be absolutely awful.
Mattyblue Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Half of last seasons total. That's a lot to make up in six weeks.
OJRovers Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Steve Kean still being in charge is a major factor. Don't forget that we went on the worst run in 30 years last year and that the poll on here showed that the vast majority don't want him as manager. I said to myself I wouldn't get a ST whilst he was still in charge, but have renewed because I want to see the young players come through like Hoillet, Formica, Ollson and Rochina. Many won't look past SK still being there.
A cup of beans Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Yeah, let's hope she meant thousand. lets hope she meant 9 thousand sold in the town centre store alone!
ABBEY Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 5000 down I've been told..NICE GOING chicken dippers..champions league my arse..ah well us few st holders should get good seats at Wembley for the promosed cup win.
RovertheHill Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Payday for many yesterday - hopefully there will be a surge this weekend. Otherwise it's going to be a pretty poor atmosphere
Hughesy Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Missed your post on that Hughesy. Surely you could give a general %age change, or say when you last heard the figures. I last heard the figures today, and time before that was wednesday. We are less than the figure Abbey quoted down but its still a substantial amount.
Ossydave Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 At least I'll get served at the bar quicker if people are bailing out I'm not Keans biggest fan, nor Venky's, but I don't know how people can just stop going on that basis? I dread to think what would have happened to ST sales if we'd been relegated.

AggyBlue Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I dread to think what would have happened to ST sales if we'd been relegated. It would have sorted the plastics out from the hard core.
Backroom Tom Posted July 1, 2011 Backroom Posted July 1, 2011 Wonder how many of the stayaways would be back if we turned it round and started challenging for Europe again, pretty pathetic if you ask me. Plenty of people here are utterly dismayed with what's going on but not renewing still wasn't an option for them!
Majiball Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I just hope whatever the figure that it gives Venky's a kick up the backside.

Plenty of people here are utterly dismayed with what's going on but not renewing still wasn't an option for them! That's ignoring the reasons why they're not renewing TCO, and putting the blame back on the fans. Head in the sand stuff.

Plenty of people here are utterly dismayed with what's going on but not renewing still wasn't an option for them! Why not Tom? If you are not enjoying a product on offer and in disagreement with the basic business model then why the hell pay good money out? Wouldn't that be both hypocritical and insincere? Speaking of which your old Uncle has done a complete about turn. Told me in April that he had had enough with the Venkeys and their stupidity and that he was not renewing and spending Saturdays either golfing or sailing then last week he did a complete about turn and signed up to the Riverside again! I understand that he's been down to get this seasons complete new riverside match day home kit of new hush puppy's, flask and blanket. I realise that he can never ignore a bargain but I can only think the wind must have changed direction suddenly in the flat lands.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 People renew out of a blind sense of loyalty Theno,it is a hard habit to break for most.
