In 5 years of owning a season ticket, i've not had one single renewal pack sent out to me. My address details are correct with them, as I double check every year thinking "oh maybe I haven't got it because my address is wrong"

Guess they just don't like me, suppose I should just get the hint eh :D

There's no one single reason really Den. A number of things really.

Main thing is despite what it says on the ticket, there is little of my Blackburn Rovers in Ewood Park now. I have been doing it since 1981 (I know you go back a lot longer...) but in that time I always felt, no matter what, the club was like a second home. Comfortable, familiar, trustworthy, my domane-a sanctuary of sensible come no matter what. The teams have come and gone as have the players, but the blood of Blackburn Rovers was always running through everything.

But today, we have no top brass to speak of, no Bill Fox, Coar, Twentyman, Finn and Williams, no Jack Walker, no Walker trust even. No Kendall, Saxton or Mackay. No Brotherston, Barker, Mail or May, no Hendry or Speedie. I see nothing of what I believe is Blackburn Rovers anymore.

The flogging off of the best player of a generation hurts, but that is nothing new. But I am certain that the cash will be lining the pockets of agents, spivs and the Venkys and all the other pigs that can squeeze their snouts at a spare teat. And not being re-invested into the club.

I don't have a problem with Venkys buying Rovers, but if they continue to run it like they are then it's not for me.

Above all that, I do find Premier League football all a bit, well immature nowadays. All a bit silly. There was a time when I would really try and watch all the football I could, esp on telly. I would fall out with the Mrs, family etc if I couldn't watch the live game midweek or on a Sunday etc. This year I found myself completely not bothered about anyone but Rovers on TV.

I still love Rovers, and fully intend to go on next season-looking at bringing my little lad on for a match in sunny August. And I am sure a few local away games will be on-it's a good excuse for a day out and a few pints round Wigan, Manchester etc.

But I think I will be very selective of when I go this next season.

It will probably end up costing you more that way....If I was like you then id just buy one and then decide when I want to go/ or not.

Ozzy, really good post as ever. Have to say I have similar feelings. Only footy I watch now is at Ewood and maybe a bit of Champs League on telly. Getting disillusioned with the whole Prem League circus and the big business element of football. I think I will renew this time, but it will have to improve for me to consider season after. Does not help when our club has turned into the circus it has become. Think I enjoyed it more under Bobby Saxton, and they where depressing days.

Excellent point, been feeling like this for at least a year now. We must be getting old.

Had a season ticket since '75 .... never occured to me not to renew. Looks like this summer is going to sort out the men from the boys. That is my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Its a strange one really ES, I was seriously considering not renewing my season ticket last season all things considered, but I’m looking forward to next season already and have already filled my form in.

Not sure if its perverted curiosity, or just plain stupidity, but the unknown is much more appealing than the safe pair of hands, cr@p away days and sterile football.

I have been doing it since 1981

Same year I started as well Ozz.

I renewed the day the ST's were released. It's just what I do on a Saturday (preferably a Saturday) every other week. Can't blame you though Ozz. I have absolutely zero trust in the manager or the owners (I'll not even mention their "special" advisors) let alone actually believe in them.

You mention Bill Fox, yes we were skint, big time, but you knew that he and others on the board actually gave a damn. They were Rovers fans after all. I believed in them that they would always act in the best interests of the club, that they only always had one goal and that was to get promotion and to keep the club solvent (not to sell chickens, or market "the (other) brand" in Brazil).

And now?

No Chairman, no sponsors, a load of money to spend apparently for a no mark manager to attract players in, probably from the clubs "special" advisors. Not that the fact we've just sold our best player(s) will help in attracting these top players either though of course.

Look at it this way, I was here before them and I'll be here when this shower have gone as well. So **** 'em, it's our club not there's (and everyone else's on this MB as we continue to argue amongst ourselves like never before).

But that's just me Ozz - it doesn't make either of us right.

Who knows whats going to happen next season.............

When we went over to Ewood to renew our season tickets last week, unless I'm very much mistaken, there was still a smart football ground there with Blackburn Rovers FC on it. The Senior Training Centre and the Academy at Brockhall haven't disappeared into the night. Good Heavens, even Beamo is still there.

Look at Leeds Supporters. They haven't had a lot to sing about, particularly a few seasons ago when they were down in League 1, yet turn up and sing they did - and their season tickets were still more expensive than ours! Even Preston North End is reporting better season ticket sales ...

It's a new era for us, and it's early days. Mistakes have been made, and probably still will be, but then that's always been the case.

Where's your bottle? <_<:brfc:

I posted this in the Venky's thread. I think it needs an airing here.

I won't be renewing this year and it is the hardest thing in the world. The reason? We're emigrating to Australia. That is the ONLY reason. If we were staying here and Rovers were in the Championship, 1st Division, 2nd Division etc. I'd still be renewing. I think there is a lot of disillusionment around regarding football in general. It's not limited to new owners or new staff at the club or, frankly, Blackburn Rovers FC at all. It's to do with the obscene amounts of money being poured into the game. I can understand the sentiment regarding that but this is our club. It needs us as fans. Don't abandon your club just because things behind the scenes have changed. Blackburn Rovers is still Blackburn Rovers. Change happens and it's not exactly easy and to watch what has been over 20 years of continuous ownership by firstly Jack Walker and latterly the Walker Trust has come to an end. For a considerable amount of fans, that is what they have always known. Now, we move on. Don't abandon your club because things have changed.
