OscarRaven Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Ah, just heard a reliable rumour that Jonesey was on TV doing an advert for The Halifax. Thought it was a bit strange. That explains it. Thanks for clearing that one up. Thats a lot of money for less than 90 days a year... Two things if true: 1) Thier not skint 2) They intend to be here more Not sure 2) is a good thing.

chocky Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hm. Now just remind me, exactly why are Venky's interested in buying a mansion close to Ewood? Ah yes, because they intend to asset strip the club and sell it? Or, perhaps, they are, as I believe they have said, in it for the long term? Hang on Mum, that means the Venkey's are keeping their word and showing commitment to the club. The "we're doomed" merchants won't like that.
yoda Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I've heard some disturbing news in the same mould. Venky's dont have a penny and was really struggling to get a loan from the bank to buy this mansion. Therefore the bank accepted Phil Jones as security for the debt. This means that the bank legally owns Phil Jones. Think FA should investigate it. get some new medication

philipl Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Norwegian wit at work. Having watched and listened for quite a while, I have concluded these people personally have money (don't know how much) considerably in excess of what the chicken business has generated or the Bollywood films have lost.
Rovers Gals Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 http://search.knight...k.com/har090097 Wow I was brought near totting ton ( went to brownies at Torrington Methodists) and then bought house in turton ,nice rural area ( or was)

Wow Philip,if you're suggesting they have 'money' then they must indeed be loaded...

Mmm, but you also concluded Ahsan Ali Syed was a billionaire too, remember? Anyway, not too bothered about this either way. The problem with Venky's hasn't been that they've been too distant, it's been that they've been almost too "hands on" from early on and made rash decisions that severely compromised the future of our club, when in fact a more laissez faire, watch and wait attitude would arguably have seen us well clear of trouble by now. It is a good sign that they're looking to commit to the club, but I hope they'll be interfering in the actual football side of our club a lot less than they've been doing. Otherwise we'll be cursing the fact they're not looking to sell up any time soon.

Stuart Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I'll believe it when I see the photo of Barry Venky in that hot tub with Akon giving him a shoulder rub.
Kelbo Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 what'like Jack didn't... Jack had a brain, this lot dont!!
ABBEY Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 have they actually bought it or is it just a rumour that they would "like " to buy it ,just like maradonna, ronaldiniho, riquelme, beckham or will they just go for a cheaper option and rent in the ranges?
tony gale's mic Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 what, like Jack didn't... To compare anything Jack did to anything this bunch of jokers have done so far is frankly a shocking insult to the great man.
67splitscreen Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Nevile only got his planning permission granted last week for the telly tubbies house. Wonder if he wants to rent a terraced 3 bedroom until his is ready.
cruz Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Jack had a brain, this lot dont!! Or it could be said that back then Jack was able to throw enough money at it to make it work as football wasn't awash with money. He also had the added luxury of the best manager of that time being out of work and considered a busted flush who couldn't take the stress.............which Kenny proved to be completely wrong. Modern owners cannot do that unless they have a bottomless pit like at Man City. In todays footballing world Jack would be a minnow fumbling in the dark. Also remember that for all the amazing things he did for Rovers he was also party to our decline after sitting on his laurels in the summer of 1995.

Venky's don't have the same monetary advantage that Jack did, yet instead of appointing the best out of work manager around, they've appointed a total nobody and fired a successful manager who did an excellent job for us. Jack's methods in todays' circumstances would have been totally different compared to Venky's. As a Rovers fan he'd probably realise the amount of money he could provide couldnt win Rovers the title. Jack was a bona fide life long Rovers fan who had been following football all his life. Venky's are the total opposite. Like I said, anyone who dares to make comparisons with Jack and Venky's is being insulting.

Plenty of areas cheaper to rent than the ranges, maybe not too welcoming though

Just because you deem to find something insulting doesn't mean people aren't entitled to compare and contrast. What is it, TGM's way or the highway?

What is it, TGM's way or the highway? Ah, the troll strikes again. I said that I find it insulting to what Jack did. At no point did I say that other people aren't entitled to "compare and contrast". Having said that they weren't exactly contrasting, they were trying to find similarities in the way Venky's and Jack ran our club, when the fundamental points are few and far between. If you can find me the point where I said they weren't entitled to do so, or indeed if you feel capable of making the big step up and participating in the debate itself then feel free. Until then, we'll just put down to another failed trolling on your part.
USABlue Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Too right, actually the thread's been up several hours already and I'm surprised no-one has yet presented this as definitive proof Phil Jones is to be sold to pay for it. Actually the Rao's are building a granny flat in the grounds for their most ardent admirers Philip, jim mk2, thenodrog, Kelbo and 47 er. There they can party until the sun rises with "Joan" and "the mob" to their heart's content. Will the frivolity never cease? Give em time.

I mean that IS what most people who don't have a penny do isn't it? Run out and buy a 6 MIl piece of Real Estate. Buggar me, we should all be rather familiar with Indian culture enough to know that Indian people are not typically frivolous with money.

Essentially you suggested people shouldn't dare to compare the two as it was 'insulting' which, with respect, is complete bo**ox. I love how there seems to be a different set of acceptable criteria for others, although when you consider yourself to be 'not particularly special'(read 'very special indeed')then I guess it's not surprising. Ego...it'll be the death of you TGM. If you want to call it trolling fair enough but it's a bit of a lazy approach to throw that accusation at anyone who has the audacity to challenge your take on things is how I see it.
alexanders Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 To all of you asking me about my medication (only thing I use is Viagra ) yesterday: My comment was just a try to be witty and continue on the RB's tongue in cheek comment.

There they can party until the sun rises with "Joan" and "the mob" to their heart's content. Will the frivolity never cease? Its a pity Rev that you choose to use the broad-brush smear tactic rather than address the issues. I've never used the name "Joan" for Mrs Desai and I've never described venkys as a "mob". The others you've smeared can speak for themselves. I have , however been severely criticised by Tris who called me "the leading proponent" of a takeover! No-one I recall has suggested that Venkys will sell Jones to pay for their home so that's surely a frivolous remark. It certainly can't be an attempt at humour can it? To restate once again, I welcomed the take-over, would not wish to return to the Walker Trust which felt like a living death to me and, though very disappointed with various decisions Venkys have taken, remain hopeful they will learn the lessons of their mistakes and look forward to a great future with them. However I'll be doing my bit helping them get there by pointing out their errors rather than telling them what they want to hear. You?
