Billy Castell Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Thanks. My last post was supposed to be on the transfer thread, but I didn't notice the whole new section. I think the future could look either good or bad right now. Assuming Samba goes, we could have loads of money, tie Hoilett on a long contract, buy players like Vucnivic (or however you spell it), a good replacement defender and a couple of other exciting players. Or we could sell Samba for £8m, sign/buy crap like Bothroyd, Konchesky and RSC and rely on Benjiani, Roberts and the like to carry the squad.
True Blue & White Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Offer £4m for Jones. Schalke don't need him or the cash, his kids did well at school here, Serie A isn't anywhere near as good as it was 10 years ago and I suspect footballers don't hold that much respect for the Europa League. Offer him a fairly decent salary and guarantee him immediate first team footballer. Moving to Roma involves upheaval for him.

Living in Rome or the surrounding area or living in the North West of England. Europa League or a relegation fight?

Fife Rover Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Ask the bookies Dave. Are you seriously suggesting that you believe we will be in a relegation battle again this season Theno? I will remind you of this around the beginning of next April, around the time that you can be expected to be busily polishing your trumpet in preparation for the usual "there you go folks.......I am right again " session.
philipl Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 As things stand, we are weaker than we were when we played Wolves and could have gone down on the last day of last season. And at serious risk of getting significantly weaker before any signings are made.

When you are a trading club, which we still are under Venky's, the business model sort of suggests you have to sell before you buy. Or would you raher we had sold Jones on Aug 31st?

Lets hope things improve considerably over the coming months.

As opposed to selling players for 17 million and giving 6 million back to reinvest.
Mr. E Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The title of this thread makes me laugh. Football is dead. There is not the slightest thing honorable or respectable about any of these players. Might as well go watch baseball. It all makes me sick.

MAke your mind up. I thought you said they had no money and would be selling the ground to Poundland?

cruz Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Living in Rome or the surrounding area or living in the North West of England. Europa League or a relegation fight? There are some truly stunning places to live all within 90 minutes of the training ground (In fact there are THREE national parks in that radius). Places where you won't get robbed or have your bags snatched by a moped driver.....if you don't get mown down on a crossing first
