What I want from Phil is the same Damian Duff. While I was up set that he left Rovers for Chelsea, he came back from the world cup with out a contract signed. Signed the contract with Rovers in a week of getting back and then joined. Of course he left for Chelsea a week or two later but the club got "if I remember correctly" a club record transfer of £17.5 million.

You can't ask for fairer than that.

With transfer inflation Duff's 17.5m in 2002 would translate to about 25m now I think. That might be enough to justify selling Jones, although I am not sure people would be willing to pay that yet as he is not a full international.

I think for us to get his real value he needs to stay until he gets England games. And I think he will want to stay because the potential of Rovers at the moment is outstanding, he's a roves fan and he is so young, There s plenty of time to play for the big boys in two or three years time.

A fellow member said it could be a defining summer of activity. I agree with that notion.

History shows Rovers have somewhat dithered and flattered to deceive at crucial times, in particular with furore and speculation about potential buyers, money from The Walker Trust, investment and so on. we have also seen star players depart for big fees which undoubtedly have added to the lack of any real investment that would have provided significant transfer funds.

Dont get me wrong, I fully appreciate just what a fantastic job Mr williams and the staff at the club have done for us fans. They really have to be applauded and thanked from the bopttom of our hearts. We fans at Ewood have been spoiled and although we have seen some lean times we have at least seen a Premiership club that is willing to compete.

I see Rovers being in a position to move forward at last without any background aggravation. We wont have speculation about buyers,we will only have speculation about just how much money we have to spend. I think Mr Nixon will undoubtedly be in full flow as this season dies into the memories and we look forwards to 2011/12.

There is no doubt that we just cannot believe the Venky's lot 100%. We have though to accept that they have made errors and that some of their decision making has been suspect to say the least. I wonder now though if we can see a decent football plan start to come together ?

Our youth and reserves have done us proud and we have some decent quality coming through the ranks. We know this and we have seen first hand just how good some of them may become. We have seen our younger players flourish when given the first team nod. In Jones, Olsson and Hoilett we have 3 players who are capable of becoming big money signings in the future and who will become big stage players of managed correctly. We have the backbone of a team that can challenge the top 10 easily.

Rovers find themselves in a decent position to go and at last purchse the types of players we need. Priority has to be a ball winning/playing central midfielder and a good centre forward who can score 15 goals regularly over a season. There is also a chance to rid the club of players who clearly cannot perform on this stage.

That means Andrews, Grella and Dunn must now be sold or moved on. If Dunny was fit then I would keep him I may add. Brown must also be despatched out the exit door. Question marks still hang over Roberts and Pederson. We lose M Diouf, JJ and RSC as they return to their clubs. We lose Benjani as he no longer has a contract.

For me we must keep : Robinson, Bunn, Salgado, Emerton, Samba, P Jones, Givet, Kalinic, Rochina, Formica, Olsson, Pederson, Hanley, NZonzi, Nelsen (if fit) and Hoilet.

We must get rid : Andrews, Roberts, Brown, Grella and EHD.

We must try and sign JJ and perhaps M Diouf (or at least sign him for another year on loan).

There has to be scope for a decent striker and a central midfielder. With our young players coming through, a decent squad is together. A little tinkering and it becomes a good squad.

Whatever happens, the time is right for progress to be made.

Was a lot more optimistic after our end to the season that maybe after taking over halfway through the season he maybe got the players to understand the way he wanted them to play and working together i would not be sad to see him go but hopefully if he stays Kean will have more time to work what ever style he wants into our team.

One thing that concerns me on this board tho is people starting rumours and then when they don't happen they use it as a stick to beat the owners with maybe they are not the best and they have def made mistakes but can we not give them the chance to show us if they are going to back who ever our manager maybe .

Sale? - you couldn't give most of that lot away

True enough. Who do you expect will honestly buy Grella or Andrews? Especially now Paul Ince is no longer working?

I'd keep Linganzi, for what it's worth. I don't see any rush to boot him out. He's still recovering from injury anyway.

Same for Blackman. He did well at Aberdeen, and he's only 21. Can't offer less than Benjani.

Add Dunn (which you mentioned), Goulon, Rigters, Linganzi and Blackman to that list.

Big summer sale at Blackburn!!

WTF? Is he still here?

I think the key to the summer is to keep our better players, Samba, P Jones, Hoilett and re-enfiorce that with at least 1 quality striker and a central midfielder (J.Jones would be fine).

Those talking about raising cash from the likes of Samba or Jones should ask who did we replaced Santa Cruz, Bentley, Duff, Shearer with. In our position we cannot attract players of the same quality so we should do everything to keep the ones we have.

please don't mention them again I am still recovering from palpitations after that 2nd Wolves goal went inI was totally convinced we'd throw it away I need to have a good lie down to get this season totally out of my system before worrying about next year & I also fear if the current numpty is still in charge next season I may have to sort out a pacemaker because my heart could not take the excitement also there are far more pressing issues unless you would like to see Joe Bloggs on the front of our shirts next season!.

I can't imagine him being around given the contempt he seems to have been treated with. Clearly does not figure in Kean's plans, wrongly so IMHO, but that seems to be the way it is.

I don't know if anyone else who was at Molyneux agrees, but I thought the vouchers offering price reductions at the food stall which "The Owners of Blackburn Rovers" provided for the "Loyal Suppporters" were an interesting straw in the wind. It made me feel for the first time that the Venkys were beginning to "get it".

I know I often say that I'm a "glass-half-full" man when it comes to Rovers; but that gesture, the pricing of next season's tickets and Steve Kean's remarks following his latest visit to Pune give me confidence that next season will be a lot better [and I know it couldn't be much worse!] than the one we've just endured.

Good ideas guys but this is not Championship manager. So could you offer any suggestions how we going to get those still within the duration of their contracts to tear em up? Hypnosis perhaps? Threats of violence against their wives and children possibly?

It's just same old same old, contracts only work one way, those who are any good we struggle to keep whilst those who are crap or long term injured stick to their contracts like sh1t to a blanket.

Do others think Venky's seem to be starting to change people's opinions throughout the fan base? I just hope they have learnt their lessons and keep their mouths shut when it comes to transfers this summer and not mention how much money there is to spend. If opposing clubs know how much there is to spend prices will inevitably increase prices and that cant be good for us.

The only things I want to hear for them is their longer term plans for the club or talking about the how they intend to run it going forwards.

I hope they act quickly and get any signings in before the end of July so Kean and Jensen can get them into the 1st team before we kick off in anger in August.

The only thing that could have been worse about last season is relegation, so surely things can only get better!

I agree with you m1st - its just a shame that Wolves took advantage of it and served up the sh*ttest food I think I have ever tasted at a Premiership ground. The pessimist in me would say that Wolves swapped stock for cheap crap, the optimist in me would say that they serve sh*t all the time!

A great gesture in any case, and credit must go to Venkys for that and the ticket contribution.

BTW - what a day eh??!

£4 for a pie! the *new* price seemed to be stuck over the top of the usual display, profiteering at its most blatant!

Guest Wen Y Hu

That reminds me. There was a shot of the Rovers fans after one of the goals at Wolves - no idea which one, there were so many - and it showed a Rover with "BROWNIE" on the back of his home shirt. I don't know if it was our Brownie, but anyway he was talking to this young bloke who looked absolutely and utterly leathered. Very amusing. Reminded me of Echo and the Bunnymen in their heyday with the hairstyle.
