If Jones wants to leave, it's because we aren't a top-four club and can't offer him CL football and England recognition.

What a load of rubbish Topman !

Jonesy boy would be playing for Rovers tomorrow if he hadn't been driven out.

The future is unremittingly grim.

Being a Rovers' supporter is grim, sharing a web site with some is more than "unremittingly grim."

Is there a "Grim" worse than "unremittingly."

"IhatemyselfandIwanttodieColin"

Cheers everyone, have a good summer

You lie and lie and lie again. All because the club snubbed you and your schiester. Your care more about your ego than the club.

You are no supporter of Rovers. You are a disgrace.

And you are getting funnier with every post.

Like many other supporters, I am really fearing for our future.

IMO, there seems to be no plan and no leadership within our club.

Add to that an unconvincing manager, earlier gossip and speculation about his relationship with the players is increasingly emerging, and the alarm bells are ringing loud and clearly.

Do our top players really want to play for him (I said earlier that if Jones goes then the floodgates would open) ? Anyone excited about his wish to sign RSC, MB Diouf, Larsson etc ? Who is valuing players, negotiating transfers, new contracts etc ?

Some have used the term 'exciting times' - my adjective would be 'despairing'.

IMO, our new owners had a lucky let-off in surviving in 2010/11, the omens for 2011/12 look more foreboding.

I have to be honest and say that I agree with you. Rovers are a club who promoted a coach to be the manager. That is like promoting the bank cleaner to be the bank manager.

Wouldn't that be so if we promoted the cleaning lady to be the manager? Do banks have a different kind of hierarchy?

The biggest problem Rovers have is this, we have no sponsor or shirt sponsor, without which, season tickets cannot be processed, shirt sales and commercial sales will stagnate as they cant be a replica until the sponsor is sorted, cash flow will be seriously hampered and we are going into a transfer window without an experienced negotiator on behalf of the club!

WTF has a shirt sponsor got to do with processing season ticket sales?? Some people already have done!

Shirt sales @ Rovers are minor - they make us very little profit

Cash flow is far greater than anything we have had previously.

As as for 'saying people are for sale' - you cant hide release clauses from the national press once its out there, especially when the player himself wants a top club move.

Revidge - agree on getting rid of some players, yes its difficult but its something we need to start doing - Diouf, Andrews, Grella will all offer us NOTHING next season, let them leave and use their wage allocation on a better prospect.

I'm amazed that Venkeys aren't putting their names on the shirts. They want to market BRFC in India supposedly and they want cheap advertising too. I'd have thought it was perfect for them. Maybe they want to wait until we are in the top 5.

From what I have read/heard, Venky's believe they can get around £5 million from (an external) sponsorship deal.

The Marple Leaf (recent blog article) also reported that a betting company was knocked back as a potential sponsor.

One of Mr Hunt's roles, given his background, will be to assist with all commercial activities and presumably help secure a sponsor (plus other branding excercises).

What a truly disorganised bunch Venkys are! As time goes on, it is very clear to me, initially, Venky's did not have a clue what they were really getting into when owning a football club (including the running costs).

Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes.....

How would that work? They would be paying, their own money to put their name onto shirts, into a club they are already paying money into. It would be better to have a fresh source of income (from venkys stand point) than to put in their own.

Cannot see venkys supporting / wanting any sponsor advertising betting or alcohol.

I'd imagine that's what they will be doing if they can't agree to a sponsor with anyone before the start of the season.

Why not?

The Indians are big, big punters, and whilst not the biggest drinkers in the world, if they could make a quid from it, then it wouldn't bother them.
