About time Fifa cleaned house. After the debacle that was the voting process for the 2018/2022 World cups. Admittedly theres no chance of the process being re-done but perhaps we can now have a open and transparant process for next time.

You never know, there is already discontent about them trying to have it in winter

Quite right too, Ever since day dot the W/C has been a summer tourney fit around the off-season in most major leagues.

To move it to mid season just to massage the ego of Blatter and his bringing football to 'less traditional' footballing nations goes against common sense and devalues the competition as a whole. For an example look at the African cup of nations a decent tournament ruined by being mid season.

Anyway the sooner these dishonest gits are forced to come clean about their past transgressions and Fifa take up the IOC model or transparancy for granting nations World cups then the happier i'll be.

FIFA looks like it's going to implode. I hope they find lots of corruption so we can finally reform the entire organisation.

I hope so, but I doubt it. It reeks of a PR exercise.

This is a far more interesting topic than 300+ pages of "Kean is sh!te!" and "Oh no he isn't".

isnt this a case of fifa investigating fifa..? or 2 candidates mohammed something and blatter, trying to ambush each other..?

im taking a wild guess here, but this will probably end up with nothing. They would both end up as bums, if the truth about came out, so this is imo just dogs barking, but not biting.

i dont know if andrew jennings is a trustworthy person, but reading his book on fifa, haolange, blatter and adidas etc, was shocking. And if he is to be believed, an internal fifa investigation, has as much worth, as what im about to torture my toilet with.

It was bloody hot in (Mexico?) 86 so why should Qatar get special treatment?

Also, get footballing minds into the FA. And I don't mean Platini, I mean SERIOUS people. Sir Trevor Brooking, Harry Redknapp, Sir Alex and the like. England 'invented' the modern game and have the 'best league in the world'. Surely it only makes sense to have a majority English connection within FIFA?

Its about time. The last World Cup proved that things within FIFA need to change, not least the willingness to progress the game into the 21st century with goal line technology. Another thing that has annoyed me over the last few years is that tackling has been outlawed to the point where yellow and red cards are now handed out for nothing offences thus competitive matches get turned into a sham, this needs adressing even if it means introducing things like sin bins. The World Cup voting system needs to be transparent and rather than a 24 man comittee it would perhaps be better to give individual FA's the right to vote therefore taking away the power of these men who seem to have so much power in the game.

The FA Don't know their head from their arse either so that would be a pointless exercise

I think the idea of FA's having the vote SHOULD work. But it'd just become a political farce, like Eurovision imo.

The FA should get their act together and take over world football again like they did with domestic footbal

When did the FA "take over world football" the first time ?

And although the FA is English football's governing body, it does not run the day-to-day operations of the Premier League, which is a corporation owned by the 20 member clubs, or the Football League, consisting of the Championship, League One and League Two, which is self-governing.

Try again.

The FIFA Ethics Committee is independent so at least that is a good thing.

imo only on the surface tim.

I havent looked into the matter, but perhaps you have and could answer a few simple questions..

who set up the ethics comittee..?

who is paying them..?

this mohammed guy and blatter are like 2 politicians, they know exactly where to stop. Imo is quite simple, you dont want to attack a man, who has too much dirt on you and could bring you down as well. Its going to end uplike this, 2 dogs barking at each other from across the street, with absolutely no action and it will all be forgotten, with a new fresh scent of another dogs ######.

we can always hope though.

ATT SEGGIE:

my book is the danish versiona nd is called FIFa´s hemmelige verden, directly translated, FIFA´s secret world. I dont know if that matches the english book title.

When they spread it around the world, stop nick picking you know where I was coming from

The FA instigated the premier league after falling out with the football league and you know it.

If FIFA was based in England the British press would have a good chance of keeping them more honest than FIFA is now.

Anyway England made the modern game and should run it

Having seen the farcical way the FA has run the England national team over the past 40 years I'd say you must be mad to want that lot anywhere near FIFA HQ. If our lot were in charge they'd offer Blatter a new 4 year contract worth double what he is on now the week before he comes up in front of the beak!

btw I said previously that that Jack Warner looked a dodgepot.... looks like my 'nose' for such things is as reliable as ever. <_<

Football dates back to the second and third centuries BC in China.

Fifa is corrupt but the FA is incompetent. Take your pick.

So many of the big wigs in Fifa have been doing what they've wanted for years, thinking that they would never be pulled up on it. Being the political game that it is, Blatter couldn't sell them out for fear of what they have on him being exposed. It's without doubt one of the most corrupt organisations in the world and the only thing that I'm surprised about is that it's taken so long for these guys to be investigated.

Yep, and no. Platini is the reason it can actually get worse than Blatter. A man who has espoused turning football into a non-contact sport. I don't know if his view is still the same, but I'd take pretty much ANY level of corruption at FIFA over making the game non-contact. And in many other ways he's always come across to me as a misguided tool. However, I'd not be happy with any of the other three you mention!! Trevor "I like West Ham so they can stay up" Brooking? Harry "Dodgy Dealings" Redknapp? Alex "Asshole" Ferguson? No thanks. And no offence but it's a little odd you only mention people from the English game! Would give us a better chance of a World Cup though ;-)

Andrew Jennings is awful though. All the panorama programs have been pure rubbish. The one before the world cup bid was sensasionalist journalism at its absolute worst - yes there are many questions to be answered, but mixing fact with barely credible information and presenting it as one and the same is downright poor. The evidence of a bank statement that had part of a code of a bank transfer as JH (or as alledged Joao Havelange) was presented as irrefutable evidence that bribes had been made. Well thats hardly credible is it?

This recent program panorama had a ticket tout on saying Jack Warner is selling me tickets, well thats not really too hard for anyone with any brains to defend is it? Apart from that, the basis of the program seemed to be watching a guy following FIFA delegates around asking them to answer questions that they just ignored - thats just lazy journalism if you ask me. If you have facts, then they would have to answer you.

Its pretty evident there are lots of questions to answer by FIFA, but who actually are they accountable too?

Becuase FIFA are based in Switzerland they are ultimatly accountable to the Swiss government, I belive they have already had a warning to sort themselves our or face expulsion from Switzerland
