[Archived] Fifa has opened ethics proceedings against its president, Sepp Blatter.

It needs to be set up so every memeber nation has representation and everything goes to a vote. The only think decided by the executive committee is what biscuits they should have for morning tea.

Trevor Booking, Harry Redknapp?

So now the Arab crook has stood down leaving the Swiss crook as the only candidate for President. Only a maniac with a large bomb will clean up FIFA. We should leave FIFA and set up a proper organisation that does not tolerate corruption. It's HQ should be in a country that hasn't cashed in on Jews' teeth and lets the rich avoid tax with hidden bank accounts. Dick Pound approves of a breakaway: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13585987.stm

Hopefully Blatter, Warner and co. will all die of old age soon.

Who are we to throw stones after the whole 'Turkeys voting for Christmas' saga of Alan Sugar getting to vote on the first ever Sky deal (and in the process tip Sky off about ITV's bid) having secured a mega-bucks deal to supply Amstrad de-coders to Sky

incompetent over currupt anyday

you don't need to tell me about China Jim

the "football" was a little different using hands as well as a high up goal

Becuase FIFA are based in Switzerland they are ultimatly accountable to the Swiss government, I belive they have already had a warning to sort themselves our or face expulsion from Switzerland

Next stop Nigeria maybe???

Qatar's Bin Hammam accused of buying 2022 World Cup: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13592684.stm

Not really a surprise if true.

Blatter has lost any small shred of credibility he had left and should resign, but we all know he won't. All the FIFA exec committee should be fired, and the votes they previously had should go to each member countries FA. Not sure it would totally rule out corruption, but it wouldn't be as easy as it allegedly appears at present to 'buy' tournaments or financially influence voting when there are hundreds of potential voters.

This whole charade is just another example of how money is completely destroying football.

thanks for the link.

im surprised to see warner, turning on his old friend blatter.

Warnes credibility is absolutely 0, but i gotta hunch, that he has much more written material, to back the accusations he is bringing forward. He seems to be that type.

Just watched the Sepp Blather news con,

If he was working in the industry I was in, he would have been marched off the premises immediately never to return.

The guy is in a world of his own

Absolutely stunned at this guy`s arrogance, the whole of FIFA needs disbanding and starting again from scratch.

Blatter is living in cloud cuckoo land, out of touch with reality and a performance of sheer breathtaking arrogance. He is not fit to run a corner let alone FIFA. BUT unless other federations do something about then he will on Wednesday be elected for a further 4 year as head of FIFA, no change within FIFA can ever occur while Sepp and his cronies remain at the helm, but why should they rock the boat when the executive committee between them earned $32 million last year.

I haven't got a link because I am on my phone but I think it was Sky, Blatter basicly said that all the problems started in 1998. Blatter was elected in 98 so Sepp I wonder who the problem really is?

FIFA is a farce, yesterday Jack Warner said Blatter needs to be stopped, now he has urged members of his federation to vote for Blatter. The whole thing is just one big FARCE.

Blather to Warner,

why did you say that? you know you have had your hand in the till as much as me, do you really want me to spill the beans about you as well. Good point Sepp, i'll get the congress back on side ASAP

Big changes need to be made within the game in general. These people claim to act for the good of the game but realisticly act in their own interests. Warner has probably come out in Blatter's defence because he needs an ally at this moment in time, I wouldn't be entirely suprised if Warner had built up an entire dossier of corrupt acts by Blatter incase he got pulled up for corruption, his footballing Tsunami in a sense was letting Blatter know he wasn't afraid to do it.

What needs to happen with FIFA is for the sponsors to back away from them and stop giving them money and for them to state that until the World's governing body proves itself free of corruption along with a full top down restructuring removing the power from these non footballing men (although ironically it could be argued Platini represents more of a threat to the game) and putting in place a system where everything can be scrutinised and be transparent.

IMO they need to take them all out and start over. Put in proper proceedures and protocols to stop closed door dealings and any question about bribes.

Bringing a maximum 5 year term for a leader would be a prudent strategy to keep the interests of the at the top of the agenda as well.

Oh Warner Warner Warner, in the thick of the murky dealings again. Those of us who follow CONCACAF over here know he's shady.

Now his replacement is stringing up the American Rep Blazer for basically tattling on Warner to get him suspended. and asking him why he's using the USSF's typical lawyers to do their own investigation of Warer and Hamman and Blatter, and all this mess. This all starts to happen after Blazer told the carribiean nation leaders to give back any monies they recieved in order to vote for Hamman. Hamman used a Warner owned travel agency to pay for all teh carribean nation leaders to attend the vote and conference, basically.. and forced them to use that means because Warner told them that CONCACAF would not reimburse their travel expenses unless they used his travel agency.

Its all a farce. Nothing will get changed.

Luckily, FIFA really doesn't control all that much. they select the WC lcoation and control the $$ of the international game, but in the end their dealings don't typically affect the on the field product... except for the 120 degree qatarian temps, I guess.

I doubt Gulati will let the USSF rock the boat enough for that given the central role Big Chuck Blazer is playing at the moment in all this.

But yeah, this is really the case of the corrupt fighting the corrupt. There is no "clean" person to believe in to 'fight the bad people' in this case.

Feels like another presidential election to me, choosing between the lesser of 2 prime evils.

Also, get footballing minds into the FA. And I don't mean Platini, I mean SERIOUS people. Sir Trevor Brooking, Harry Redknapp, Sir Alex and the like.

I have to laugh at this statement you want a manager who prob paid off the Ref to award Unityed a penalty against us a manager who spends ten times more than he gets & places the club in major debt without asking any questions and a man who probably influenced the FA to hand West Ham Utd a fine rather than a deserved points deduction over the whole Tevez/Mascherano fiasco you want that bunch of corrupt individuals to take over FiFa Fifa needs to be cleaned up with proper transparent people not even more corrupt individuals to make the situation worse & to even think about Sir Trevor Brooking joining them as stated if that were to happen he would probably work some figures to ensure his corrupt WHU survive this year that guy is the biggest crook of the lot. I have to remark that statement did brighten up a rather gloomy day.

The F.A. and the S.F.A. have asked for the elections to be suspended...

I dunno about our FA, but Australia are planning to do that.

I hope the US, Canada, Spain, Japan and others join in on both the lawsuit and ask for the suspension of the elections. And if FIFA does not comply, then I hope they break away and form a competing organization.

The dollars are in England, North America and parts of Western Europe. If enough of those took a strong position, the others would force Blatter to step aside to protect their cozy nests.
