Seggie Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Luckily, FIFA really doesn't control all that much. they select the WC lcoation and control the $$ of the international game, but in the end their dealings don't typically affect the on the field product... except for the 120 degree qatarian temps, I guess. Disagree with that statement, they have too much control over what goes on, on the field. If you look at how the game has evolved since the late 80's the game has gone soft, tackling almost outlawed, yellow and red cards for silly niggly minor offences, this is the work of the likes of Platini, Blatter etc. Also a point blank refusal up until recently to look at the use technology at the top levels and even now they are making that as difficult as possible for the designers. Also the insistance of the pointless 6th officials rather than the technology that in some instances have got decisions wrong or not made decisions even if the incident is under their noses. John Williams for President! This is actually who our FA need. He would bring stability, structure and respect to another failure of an organisation that is there to act in the best interests of the game.

Billy Castell Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Did any other country abstain from the 'election'? I have to say that FIFA looks like Hussein era Iraq, or North Korea with the 1 established candidate being voted for by a bunch of party crooks.
speeeeeeedie Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The Swiss Supreme court ruled that documents relating to bribes paid to ex FIFA officals should be made public. Soccernet: Joao Havelange took bribes Bent. The lot of them. Aside from Blatter who declined. I wonder why?

''FIFA agreed to pay compensation of 2.5million Swiss francs (£1.64 million) on the condition that criminal proceedings against the pair were dropped.'' Compensation or bung?

booth Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Football dates back to the second and third centuries BC in China. In that case you could also say that cavemen invented it because they would occasionally kick and throw things.
ross-shire rover Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Blatter is living in cloud cuckoo land, out of touch with reality and a performance of sheer breathtaking arrogance. He is not fit to run a corner let alone FIFA. BUT unless other federations do something about then he will on Wednesday be elected for a further 4 year as head of FIFA, no change within FIFA can ever occur while Sepp and his cronies remain at the helm, but why should they rock the boat when the executive committee between them earned $32 million last year. Sounds like a nailed on certainty for a job at Ewood if he does get the push.
ChrisyG Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 From what I've witnessed at Rovers, the Italian match fixing scandal, and senior officials at FIFA recieving bungs etc, etc, football has to be the most corrupt sport in the world.
wolfie Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Hope this is true. I'd like to see the whole of Fifa crumble into dust and completely rebuilt, http://t.co/xe9co7x6rk
longsiders1882 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Well there does seem to be some substance http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/27/us-usa-fbi-soccer-idUSBRE92Q11820130327 - whether it will lead any where who can say but how brilliant would it be if the feds bought the whole shower down - though imagine there will be a few individuals and clubs sweating in England too

It's surrounded by too many greedy @#/?s from dodgy owners, crook agents and the players themselves who are all mercenary no goods. The People's Game my arse!
Amo Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Like Sepp won't have a secret escape pod straight to his Moon Base.
Guest Norbert Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I can imagine him now as the baddie in a poor James Bond film from around the late 60's/early 70's now you said that. He'd be too crap to be a memorable one like Blofeld, and would have only appeared in the 1 film. I doubt even the FBI would bring all these crooks to justice. Still have the world cups in that cheerful, multicultural place called Russia and Qatar to look forward to. Surely a stadium the size of Wembley would cover 1/3 of Qatar.
BlueMonday Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Police are investigating a robbery at FIFA headquarters this evening. President Sepp Blatters office was broken into and the results for WC Russia 2018 have been stolen...
speeeeeeedie Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 More issues regarding World Cup bidding. Russia isn't allowing FIFA's investigator into the country. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1572293/russia-refuses-allow-fifa-investigator-michael-garcia-entry-guantanamo-list?cc=5901 Why don't they appoint a new one and see what happens?
Guest Norbert Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Maybe the inspector is gay. Or doesn't like Putin. Or Polish.
Audax Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 There should be another competition set up though as long as your powers are doing alright, Germany, etc. it would seem difficult to make it go. An organisation needs to be set up that could have such events. When people boycotted the Olympics, Russia set up the Goodwill Games. So, this is what I mean by a similar-styled competition because FIFA is greedy or inept or both. Interesting story per Blatter, I did not know this: http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/organisation/president/news/newsid=2190498/index.html
