deryck guyler's spoon Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Those 3 comment negatively on the guy but for everyone one of those there are as many who want to comment positively and so the argument goes on.See Abbey's mail above for example! If somebody thought well of the previous manager and 2 people come on this thread referring to him as a "slug" or "fat slug" then there's going to be a reaction isn't there? The hypocrisy comes when the haters then say "He's gone!!!Shut up about him!" in the largest format available to them usually! It seems to me you can talk about Allardyce all you like without any criticism so long as you slag him off. I didn't hate him, I thought he was a decent manager. He's moved or is moving on (just as he wanted to do). You and the others dont seem to be able to do the same. It's all a bit wierd.

Kelbo Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Let's wait and see what squad he actually has left come August. Green, Jacobsen, Upson, Bridge, Parker, Boa Morte, Dyer, Cole, Ba, and Obinha will all be gone. I wouldn't be surprised if Noble, Hitz, and Piquionne go as well. Getting them back up will be a tough task IMO. I would be surprised if anyone bought some of those players, he may let some go, which premiership clubs would be looking at players who underperformed for a whole season?
HemelRover Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/05/29/sam-allardyce-confirms-he-will-take-charge-of-west-ham-102039-23163667/ Confirmed by the big man himself, with quotes and everything.
47er Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I didn't hate him, I thought he was a decent manager. He's moved or is moving on (just as he wanted to do). You and the others dont seem to be able to do the same. It's all a bit wierd. I didn't say you did hate him if you read my post. However, if you read some directly above you'll see the extent to which some people haven't moved on. Its posts like yours which keep this debate dribbling on. For instance---"he is moving on (just as he wanted to do)." So he wanted the sack halfway through the season did he? Just nonsense.
The Gull Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 He liked Andrews didn't he, he would be brilliant for West Ham's total football, sign him up Sam.
chaddyrovers Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 he will get them promote. he is a very good manager and will know what to do to achieve this.

He's moved or is moving on (just as he wanted to do). You and the others dont seem to be able to do the same. It's all a bit wierd. wierd is correct ,it's like theyve been dumped by a bird in their teenage years and cant let go. So he wanted the sack halfway through the season did he? Just nonsense. do you honestly believe he was arsed once the ££££££££££ compo went in his offshore account(allegedly) or his real one under the matteress.
Amo Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Those 3 comment negatively on the guy but for everyone one of those there are as many who want to comment positively and so the argument goes on.See Abbey's mail above for example! You missed the point. Those three are among Sam's biggest fanboys.
John Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Total lack of respect for a bloke that did an excellent job for the club. How on earth certain people struggle to seperate his supposed persona with what he did for the club is beyond me. It beggars belief, it really does - JW had so much time for Sam plus most of the senior players thought he was the best manager they ever worked under. Ah well, that is football fans for you....
Billy Castell Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Allardyce did a good job saving us from Ince's incompetence and keeping us away from relegation fights despite having no money. The football was not exactly Barca style, but it was effective, and I'd rather Sam than someone like Steve Bruce who whizzes millions up the wall and achieves the same results. Oh, and I think he'll last about 2 seasons at West Ham. They're one of those clubs with fans who think they have a 'way' of playing football. The porno boys will soon demand sexy football and give it large about how the club deserves to be at the top table, how Sam is not performing miracles on a depleted budget.......and so on. You know the score with how the gobshites act.
cruz Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 What has Sam Allardyce joining West Ham go to do with Rovers?
47er Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 What has Sam Allardyce joining West Ham go to do with Rovers? Interesting? But if you think we shouldn't be mentioning him, start with yourself!
thenodrog Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 It's also a massive upheaval and they're going to have precious little quality up front next season. His record in this respect isn't bad. He got Notts County promoted and he made the playoffs two years running with Bolton, going up at the second attempt. Dragged Blackpool from the depths too led the 1st Div all season, did a Kenny/BRFC/Devon Locke right at the death, faltered and missed out in the play offs. btw... When we beat em 1-4 at their place allright EiT but when he eventually got Bolton up via the play offs he'd clung onto the shirt tails of mega rich us and Fulham all season and run us virtually all the way. A commendable achievement given Bolton's meagre financial resources at that time. He'd also transformed a very average second rate striker Michael Ricketts to full England international by simply playing to his strengths... much like he did with Kevin Davies later. Odd that no other manager could make anything out of those two despite plenty trying. Moving on Allardyce will likely find it tough at WHU because of unreasonable supporter attitudes who think oddly that WHU are something that they clearly aren't (... a bit like our know nowts do come to think about it). They need to take a reallity check and know their place. Odd bed fellows Gold and Sullivan but I do think they will have the balls and wherewithal to resist any supporter unrest and give him the support they gave to Grant. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that they could do a double drop. Allardyce really is their best option imo given the circumstances that they have found themselves in.
Billy Castell Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Beats me Cruz. Probably an excuse for people to get their handbags out and have a go at posters they don't like, reiterate the same worn out arguments and so on. Again.
47er Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 You missed the point. Those three are among Sam's biggest fanboys. No--my point was that the three I mentioned are 3 of his biggest haters. And bang on about him all the time. Any chance they/you get.
thenodrog Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 What has Sam Allardyce joining West Ham go to do with Rovers? What have Rovers to do with this thread you mean? Read the topic title. If it displeases your churlish sensibilities then simply don't click the link.
ABBEY Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 No--my point was that the three I mentioned are 3 of his biggest haters. And bang on about him all the time. Any chance they/you get. and you have wet dreams about GAV
Amo Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 It beggars belief, it really does - JW had so much time for Sam plus most of the senior players thought he was the best manager they ever worked under. Ah well, that is football fans for you.... You don't have to like him to respect the job he did here. If someone asked me if Sam did well, I'd say yes. Doesn't mean I can't poke fun at his mammoth ego and outdated tactics. And please, spare me the Cloughie/Mourinho/Fergie comparisons. They're managers who have enjoyed continued success at the highest level with the medals to show for it. Their records speak for themselves. The fact Sam is close to joining West Ham than a PL club, should tell you how much he's overrated on here.
47er Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 and you have wet dreams about GAV Any chance of King Kong getting a warning?
tcj_jones Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 The only reason Allardyce doesn't get the bigger jobs is because of his style of football, which isn't pleasing on the eye. His achievements, though, speak for themselves and, if he'd done what he did at Bolton playing beautiful football, he'd have been snapped up by one of the big boys.
Fife Rover Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Dragged Blackpool from the depths too led the 1st Div all season, did a Kenny/BRFC/Devon Locke right at the death, faltered and missed out in the play offs. btw... It's just a great pity that Allardyce and WHAM found each other. He is almost certainly going to prevent them from getting what they truly deserve and have escaped for too long thanks to connections in high places. Ask any Sheffield Utd fan if you don't agree.
ABBEY Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Any chance of King Kong getting a warning? dont be so touchy and mard. bet your sat in front of your pc waving imaginary yellow card at me
