[Archived] Sam Allardyce

Recommended Posts

I've also watched an awful lot games in that time, and the Villa performance was good, but I can’t recall another performance like that under Allardyce, can you?

Chelsea in the cup.

Even though only listening to it on radio it was a really good game!

Hmmmm, 6-4 League Cup semi-final defeat at Villa was one of the best nights in 50+ years watching Rovers plus victories over some of the top 4 so I think you're a tad mistaken there.

Some victories over the top 4 when? Most of the time we played a reserve side and just rolled over....it was one of the biggest criticisms that some fans had of him!

What about 7-1 defeats to United? or 6-2 defeat to Arsenal, or 5-0 at Chelsea?

Personally I think Wolves away on the last day was more exciting than the 6-4 loss - at least we WON!

Macca in charge for that, Sam no where near the ground.

He only came into the cup run when we faced Villa, and uhm lost playing defensivly at home then having to go for it away.......

Jim be honest here, do you truly believe that it was worse than the 0-0 game against West Ham at home the year before?

As bad as the one this season was the one the year before was far more dull, there was one proper chance in the whole game if I remember right.

I don't see how anyone can say that was better than the one this season without any bias whilst retaining any credibility.

You have to say that West ham this season provided much worse opposition Tom. They were hopeless. At least last season they were organised and disciplined. Not rteally relevent but if you want to compare matches with his first season how about Stoke home? 1st match for alladyce 2nd match for kean. A world of difference.

Yep, what I was trying to show is under any manager there will be truly abysmal games, for me as a game the West Ham game the year before was worse but this season there have been plenty of awful games at home under both managers (moreso under Kean granted)

Yeh and kean had to sub 3 players due to injury which people conveniently forget. Not a good way to start of your managerial career. 1 of Which cased a player 2 be out for 6 months. We have had really bad injurys and suspensions havent helped. Would like to see kean given a chance with out them problems.

6 months? I must have told you a million times not to exaggerate.

Think West Ham are making a mistake, but oh well. Should have looked at Brendon Rodgers or one of the managers, who just missed out on promotion.

Why would he leave Swansea who he has just got promoted for a team which has just been relegate?

I would say there were proportionally more abject performances under Sam.

Who cares what you say Bucky? 1. Your posts over the years state that you obviously know little about football and 2. You'd slunk away and crawled under a stone when relegation began to look a probability.

As for the ‘hoofball dross’ since December, you of all people should know that styles and tactics need time to ‘bed in’, we saw glimpses of what to expect towards the end of the season. No matter how you try to dress things up, we’re making progress in terms of the football on offer, the first half at Wolves was arguably the best 45 minutes I can recall in a long while.

Really? After Ince left a dispirited and bewildered team that hadn't won for 3 months or so Allardyce had 5 days until the first match which saw his 1st 6 matches undefeated and 10 points to the good (despite Jason Roberts missing the easiest chance of all time for all 3 points at Sland).

Just like bucky you know nowt.

btw will somebody please copy this just so he can read it?

To be honest, the 6-4 was more of a farce then entertainment.

Id say the spurs game at home, were we lost 1-0 was a far more entertaining game against a side that was in the champions league. I still scratch my head to how we lost that.

There IS only one reason we lost that...................Gomez (sp?).

I'm sorry mate. Bigger fish to fry. Just managed to sort out a job in London at a Big 4 auditing company.

So your insults are like water off a ducks back.

I listed the abject performances you haven't offered any riposte. I'm not surprised.

I got my wish. You had yours trashed and top it all off Sam has been picked up by West Ham. Ha.

C'est la vie.

Congratulations! Managed to secure myself an ACA Contract and I know how tough it is to get into the Big 4!

What. I take it you weren't there then because that was a fantastic night

I'd say it was the atmosphere that made it more than anything.

The defending was atrocious!

You really don't help yourself do you?

Unbelievably arrogant to say most of your posts are just rehashes of previous posts, with your little sarcastic smilies trying to imply you're better than everyone else.

Everyone who disagrees with you knows nowt apparently

Get over yourself!

Good luck with your bean counting exploits. I worked as an engineer all my life, the things I've created all over the World will still be there long after I'm gone. How about you ?

If you've got a top job with high earning power, that means your posts are rubbish. Ask TGM!

What is this thread about again? You would'nt be able to guess reading through some of the last pages

I think it will be interesting to see how Sam fares in the championship, over the past couple of season's the teams that have flourished have been teams that have got the ball down on the deck and played a bit holding possesion.

The championship is more physical and less free kicks are given to springboard Sam's direct approach, there are also plenty of teams with 6 footers to counter the long ball, It will depend on the players Sam gets to keep before deciding how well he will fare.

I believe he's signed for them and is set to take over when he get's back from his holiday.

I think he's well suited for the West Ham job: brash, arrogant git who thinks he's amongst the best out there and arrogant club who believe they should be up at the top. It really is a match made in heaven...

Having said that i do think he will do a good job down there albeit with some added hoofball tactics thrown in and will probably get them back up with automatic promotion.

Allardyce will naturally focus all of his attention on playing matters. He is determined to make the Hammers successful wherever and whenever they play - but will not sacrifice the club's traditions in the process.

"I know there will be West Ham fans asking whether I'm going to abandon the style of play that's been the club's heritage over the years. All I'll say is it will be a tale of home and

away.

"At Upton Park we'll attempt to play the kind of passing game the fans want. We will aim to continue in the same way on our travels but we'll also be tough, hard to beat and utterly

resilient."
