Nicko, would you say Venkys relationship to Jerome Anderson is the same as Abramovic's to "super agent" Pini Zahavi?

Zahavi put Abramovich and Chelsea together. He was very close, then not to close, but now close again.

It depends on the quality of the players he has or can bring in.

Jerome Anderson and the guy Philippe Huber [who is arguably THE power behind the scenes] brought Venky's to Rovers.

Their relationship will also be based - now and in the future - on the quality of the players they bring in.

Cheers. I have done all right finding out about the ones going.

I think there ARE incoming targets, but they have been kept close to the chest - and will depend on the budget.

I do know of one definite target, but the chap isn't fit at the moment. I am not writing it yet...and I won't be answering PMs on it either.

[Did you hear that, Hughesy? ]

Haha awwww play the gaaammmeeee tongue.gif.

Fancy a game of 21 questions? lol

The manager said: "Ideally we'd like everyone signed in time for pre-season, but the reality is that isn't going to happen."

I wouldn't hold too much hope that we'll spend £40m or however much we end up

with by pre-season.

Were did I say we would spend £40 million. Yes he said ideally which means things will start to pick up.

Just a brief point on the Jones contract.

It was the owners rather than the agents who wanted the price clause put in.

Some questions.

-What was the exact date the clause was inserted?

-When was Jones injured in relation to this?

-When did sam ask to leave to go abroad and was turned down in relation to this?

-At what stage were take over discussions taking place around the date the clause was inserted.

Some well know facts.

1) Big Sam and Alex have a good relationship

2) Jones probably would have gone to utd if he wasn't injured last time

I'm not in a position to be able to join the dots here... :!: i don't expect you can either but can you answer these points??

Some questions.

-What was the exact date the clause was inserted? NOT SURE...BUT EARLY FEBRUARY RINGS A BELL.

-When was Jones injured in relation to this? WEST HAM GAME [DECEMBER].

-When did sam ask to leave to go abroad and was turned down in relation to this? LAST SUMMER. COMPO WAS THE ISSUE.

-At what stage were take over discussions taking place around the date the clause was inserted. TAKEOVER TALKS BEGAN IN MAY [WITH THE FIRST TIME-WASTER] AND DID NOT COMPLETE UNTIL OCTOBER/NOVEMBER.

Some well know facts.

1) Big Sam and Alex have a good relationship...YES.

2) Jones probably would have gone to utd if he wasn't injured last time...NO.

I don't know what join the dots picture that creates. But there goes.

Nicko, is it Jerome Anderson and Philippe Huber who had said to the owners to bring in Paul Hunt and possible Adam Pearson?

I don't think so.

Hoilett likes to take people on in a way that better suits being a winger than a striker in my opinion. He looks so good in that free role he had at the end of the season, and I don't see why we should change that. He can be a striker, but he doesn't really play as one - and to be fair, he's more of a creator than a finisher.

We need to ship out Phil Jones now, and clear up the Samba mess. I did not feel good writing that, but we all know PJ will go, and before we can bring someone in we need to get the 'outs' done, especially to know whether we need one or two new central defenders. Secondly, we need to tie Junior up with a new, well-deserved contract without a release clause. Then we can bring in Jermaine Jones and RSC, before spending about 15m on a striker and a replacement for Jonesy. Add a full back to this, and we're looking the part for next season.

If Samba stays - we need a ball-playing defender ala Hangeland who can pass. If we get Jermaine Jones, I think midfield will be fine- N'Zonzi is our number two with Dunn and Formica and possibly MGP as passing midfielders. Not forgetting Jason Lowe, who should really impose himself next season...

Up front we will have Rochina up our sleeve, which gives us plenty of options with Hoilett and Formica to play off a big man as well... hopefully.

The future's so bright you gotta wear shades.

If we can keep Samba.

By gum! You've just cheered me up no end Herbergeehh. Flipping wonderful! Why couldn't any of us have seen that? Now then what did I do with that S/T renewal form?

EDIT: No I am not being sarcastic at all..... I mean every word. Oh and another thing.....if RSC can reproduce the form he showed just now for Paraguay, then he should be able to do it for us as well. Get him signed up as long as the terms are reasonable. I am sure he can be a splendid partner for our younger strikers.

So how did the owners come to appoint Paul Hunt and poosible Adam Pearson? have other advisors suggest them to the owners?

I believe they have used some head-hunting agency.

Thanks Nicko.

are Jerome Anderson and Philippe Huber suggesting players to the manager and the owners who might be good signings for the club? what other things are JA and PH talking to the owners about?

Have to go...McLeish quitting Birmingham City job...

There's a surprise, hasn't he been linked with Villa? Among another half dozen or so.

Posted

Might want to keep out the rain, seen McLeish at 4/5 for the Villa job. Don't think it's worth the trip squire.

If thats the case then i think i'll stay in.

Isn't it a bit rich as he has taken the club down while the board club stood by him for McCleish then to walk to Villa? Also there must be compensation issues attached to that...
