Kamy100 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 As Andy Cryer says on his twitter feed, have also heard that an official approach for Samba from Arsenal is imminent. As long as there is no release clause, then it is going to cost them a heck of a lot more that then £10-£12 million that they (Arsenal) think that they can get him for.

J*B Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Get shut of Samba. Yes, he's a good defender. But he's been sloppy afew times this season, and if he doesn't want to be here, I don't want him here.

bob fleming Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Andy Cryer on twitter saying Arsenal are upping their interest in Samba. Story in tomorrow's paper. Wonderful. They'll have to up it more than £9m surely? What is it with Wenger? He's tighter than a gnats chuff that lad. What's £9m to Arsenal? The revenue from 500 new season tickets? We should be looking at another £20m for our Captain as far as I'm concerned. Totally agree with 1864's post 23 pages ago before we all started guessing Brazilians who start with the letter i, or is it I, or l, or L. Once the big teams come calling it was always going to happen, only a big name manager could potentially have kept him here and that ain't going to happen either it would appear. Good news on the fee as well and I raise my hat to one of the Chair people in India. Now let's see who they try and bring in. My guess is Garrincha.
Andy Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Elano would make sense, having previously been taken to City via Anderson/Kentaro. Still not too old and could do a job - but at the expense of David Hoilett maybe? Hearing from a few people that the main Brazilian target is a centre half currently playing in Europe.
Neal Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 "That story is from February" Yeah i'm aware, was just using it to merely point out that there has been "apparent" interest. Like i said though, never a great source.
leerovers1980 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 andy cryer also says we apparently offered a unknown Brazilian a 3 year deal so wouldn't that make the player un attached and on a free ?
Fylde Coast Fan Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I don't think Arsenal will pay what Samba's worth to us - his age means they'll only get 2 seasons out of him before Wenger's stubborn "only one year at a time for over-30 players" policy kicks in, so they could end up paying £15m for a defender who leaves on a free pretty soon after. Hopefully that means we keep him and not that we're robbed again thanks to a player who burns his bridges in a strop.
Stevo Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Were we not linked with a Brazilian fella in January? Young lad you had some cracking goals to his name on the internet?
J*B Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 This is true, but who do we replace him with? I'm not sure, I'm neither an "advisor" nor a scout. All I hope is we get Market value for him, and the money is reinvested, and we don't give ridiculous "advisor fees" to any inperticular "advisor".

Wilko Rover Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2003122/Jason-Roberts-set-sign-Ipswich-Town.html oi oi!

My guess would be Vinicius Breno of Bayern. He's struggled since his move from south america but is huge talent and very big chap.
beerwins Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I hate to be a killjoy to the guessing game but nearly all players from Brazil in the prem over the years have been freaking useless. You can see the headlines Mr's D finally gets her Brazilian *shudders
Stevo Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2003122/Jason-Roberts-set-sign-Ipswich-Town.html oi oi! Great stuff! He gave his all and tried his best, but this indicates with have better players in mind
Fylde Coast Fan Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 South America to England is a huge culture shock on and off the pitch. The ones who go to Spain or Germany first tend to do a lot better.
roversfan99 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Henrique is a centre back from Brazil, owned by Barcelona I think, there's anther suggestion.

I don't think nationality comes into it.
Roverdale Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 http://www.dailymail...swich-Town.html oi oi! What!? Haha I'd be amazed if that was true
BRFC1995 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 samba price has to be excess 18m or no deal, fella is almost unique in this league man mountain and at times a one man defence, only 27 and still getting better. we won't do better and him going automatically requires the purchase of a center half and also a right back, salgado is finished without the safety net of samba to stop everything that gets past him. 9m would be a joke, don't care how ###### off samba gets being denied the arse but we can't be raped over the price just because they are a bigger club, pay the going rate or £@$& off mr wenger
Neal Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I don't think Sandro and Ramires have gone down too badly to be fair. There are lots of other examples. I don't think nationality comes into it. Alex and Balletti did ok too.
Stavros_BRFC Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Please no Gilberto Silva. Has the quality but now he is slower than MGP
