RoverRich Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Seems this Miranda must be pretty useful as previous transfer rumours link him with the likes of Man Utd, Spurs and AC Milan in the £7-10mil region. However, he has signed a pre-contract with Atletico Madrid so don't see how we can get him in, especially on a free anyway. Maybe another transfer saga is awaiting us?! Happy to be wrong though!

T.J.Newton Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 from the daily mail link i left, Ipswich are poised to sign experienced Blackburn striker Jason Roberts. Roberts, 33, was at Portman Road on Monday for talks and is close to teaming up with boss Paul Jewell for a second time. beerwins Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I used to date a girl called Miranda... She had south american heritage. Great defender, no matter how hard i tried i could never get my balls to go in... Sorry, seems more relavant than the majority of tosh been posted on here atm You sure they were your balls?
my_name_is_Earl Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Roque Junior got over 40 caps! I'm afraid the rule doesn't really work for centre backs. I see your point Lechuck, however, you can easily argue that Brazil aren't a team who concentrate on defending. If anything, defending coaching sessions in Brazil involve one-two's, bombing forward and getting on the end of crosses. I wouldn't mind having someone who could do that, just to provide different options if nothing else. Besides, having been linked with Athletico, scumnited and Spurs, he must have something about him. I wonder how far along this deal is. i.e. Is he close to signing terms, etc.?
JW11 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Haha enough said haha my point being FM isn't reliable
Roverdale Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 JasonRoberts30 Jason Roberts I have only just seen and read the rumours.. I can confirm that I am still in Grenada and I have not spoken to anybody from Ipswich!!
Baz Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 JasonRoberts30 Jason Roberts I have only just seen and read the rumours.. I can confirm that I am still in Grenada and I have not spoken to anybody from Ipswich!! Im happy to take up the task of going to Grenada, and making sure J-Rob is escorted back to suffolk as long as everyone is happy to chip in for full expenses? I'm expecting that this difficult task should take no less than 10 days in the baking Caribbean sun, suffering for you all.

Ferrit Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Vaughan has left Blackpool, so is available on a free. Must be worth a shout surely.
Henwah Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I hate to be a killjoy to the guessing game but nearly all players from Brazil in the prem over the years have been freaking useless. You can see the headlines Mr's D finally gets her Brazilian *shudders Mrs Venkys plucks out a Brazilian? :-/
Neal Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Don't get me wrong, i like Roger Johnson, he's a good player but some people on here are saying they would be comfortable in spending a new club record 8-10 million pounds on... A 28 YEAR OLD CB WHO IS TOO OLD TO MAKE MONEY ON AND RECENTLY GOT RELEGATED! Absolutely mental.

Neal Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Agreed - albeit we shouldnt buy players to make money on - we should buy to play. Also agreed but you have to protect your investments at a club like ours. We can't afford to take a loss on players unlike the top 6.

roversfan99 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Well Johnson doesn't rely on pace. We could get 4-5 years out of him.
Torgeir Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Well Johnson doesn't rely on pace. We could get 4-5 years out of him. I tend to disagree, I think he needs that explosiveness to get his 4-6 goals a season Let him leave please, him sucking up to Kean who's been sucking up to Venky's the past few months has been annoying
dubdubdub Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Whatever he does at about 1:03 into the video is amazing... I'd sign him just for that!!! Just imagine him doing that against someone like Rooney or Torres?!?!?! He looks to me like he could play as as defensive midfielder, he certainly looks to have technical ability to play further up the pitch anyway!!! Looks like he'll solve our striker problems.
Roverdale Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 It makes sense to point out that Samba is also 27 yet we're hoping for a lot more than £8m-£10m for him. Defenders can play to older ages than most.. look at Salgado. Without making a profit on him we can use the money we've just made to buy a solid replacement. £10m or under is a top valuation though for him definitely, they're in the Championship hardly a position to start making orders.
47er Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I'm only flogging this horse to take my mind off the fact that I have to move house next week. It's diversionary. Glad to hear that. Thought it was taking over your life!
BuckyRover Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Glad to hear that. Thought it was taking over your life! New job, new city, new dreams.
Steve Moss Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 King Kenny wanted Jones, Sir Alex wanted Jones, Redknapp wanted Jones, Mancini wanted Jones, Wenger wanted Jones, FFS! they all want to win premiership football games and sought to have Phil Jones in their teams to achieve this task. This is, regretably, true. On the other hand, perhaps we can strengthen the club in other desperately needed areas (forward) with the cash. So it might not be all bad, depending on how smart Venkys is with the money. Give us some good signings Kean, but for the love of God don't blow it. If he makes some good signings, and performances improve next season, then he won't have blown it. We will have to wait and see.
Hughesy Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2003122/Jason-Roberts-set-sign-Ipswich-Town.html oi oi! PLEASE!!! JasonRoberts30 Jason Roberts I have only just seen and read the rumours.. I can confirm that I am still in Grenada and I have not spoken to anybody from Ipswich!! Spoil sport!!! As for Miranda & Roger Johnson....Samba & Jones out (No less than £15m for Samba = £31m now)- RJ £8m, Miranda free.... That leaves us with £23m + our original kitty to buy JJ and add some real quality upfront.

That kind of money on a guy that isn`t even an international is bonkers, who the hell comes up with these valuations?
