[Archived] Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part One

I think offering him the biggest contract in the clubs history is fighting to retain our players - what else would you have them do ? Release clause level will have been (at least in part) down to Jones and his agent - and keeping an unhappy player against his will would have been detrimental to team morale.

You have all the answers - what would you have done differently ?

I'm searching for the missing pieces, in need of filling in the spaces in order to gain a better understanding of it all, thats all.

What Phil Jones was saying to his outer family members, that I relayed on here, asks more questions of the current management team, and afterall when you are nailed on guilty to a misdemeanour, yet pleed innocent, even more alarm bells begin to ring out loud and clear.

It was originally inserted by the Trust (IMO). PJ obviously knew what he wanted from an early age.

Bucky you clown, the very good, reliable Alan Nixon told us on here that Venky's inserted the £16m clause FFS!

One 'pipe dream' to be chalked off the list

garbosj Ian McGarry

#AFC have agreed personal terms with Lille striker Gervinho. They expect to agree a transfer fee in the next 48 hours.

You do get the impression it will be a clean sweep and both Samba & Hoillet will leave in the next few weeks. Obviously we'll be left with a big transfer kitty, but we could reastically be putting out a team made up of 5-6 new players come the end of August. Bit 'football manager-ish' but on the other hand quite exciting.

Why aren't there any transfer stories about Grella, Andrews, Diouf et al??

BTW How the hell did Grella not make that "Europe's most unwanted" list someone posted earlier!!!

I can understand Jones going it was always on the cards as he allways showed the talent from day 1, Samba has been making the noises that he wants to go for the last year but if Hoilett were to be sold I would be furious.

When he came he did'nt seem to have much but under Kean he has progressed and is probably our best attacking player and looks like he go on to maybe score 10-15 goals next season, if he goes we wont be able to command a big figure because of his contract and whoever gets him will get a player that we have just spent a year learning him his trade in the prem and will be bang in form.

Getting him to sign that contract first is more important than siging anyone imo.

Thats the way we want to see it is it not keep the best players, offload the bad players and bring in better players.

What an easy simple game it is for some, that is, providing you can differentiate between good and bad.

Twitter saying Arsenal/Samba deal done in principle, will be announced in the next 5 days.

Team captain goes who's next ?

Thought everyone was behind Kean

Ok so a 27 year old taking the deal of his life and getting champions league football before he retires is now unreasonable?

I'm sorry but you're ridiculous.. Only a player with no ambition would turn down that offer at 27.

I'd rather have ambitious players play out of their skin for us then leave then have mundane players being average all their career.

Are you actually serious with your opinions or are they sarcastic? Because over the short space I've been on this board I've never heard anyone more ridiculous.

JAL, I know you're enjoying the wind up, but can you please confine it to other threads? The clutter here is becoming irritating.

Seriously, Fred would be a good shout if he wanted to leave France. I've seen some cracking finishes from him but I've no idea what he's like week in, week out.

As for the striker......Olivier Giroud???

@TimmoYoung on Twitter

A friend travelling in #Brazil just told me that #Nilmar is a HUGE target for Venkys at #Blackburn. Unbelievable if that's true!! #BRFC

Would be quality!

some1 on twitter mentioning Olivier Giroud from Montpelier

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivier_Giroud

I mentioned him about 8 hours ago...not sure if there is anything in it - never heard of him before!

Who cares if he goes, then he goes, it's about time the team had a summer where we bring in new players, just to give the team a fresher and brighter outlook.

We've had the same old team for a few years now with deadweights like, grella, Andrews and the like being brought in every couple of years.

However last season we brought in and give Youth such as jones, hoillett, ollson, hanley a chance and even bunn to an extent. We also brought in youth ala fomica and rochina. This is the way forward most definately.

Bring in a couple of steady heads this summer along with another 2 or 3 exciting players and we will be a better side For it, and the fact we have had some change in employees I feel will give the club and the fans a huge lift as well as sticking it up the medias ass

I said about Fred. He is in Brazil now and not in France though.

I did post some time ago, a transfer kitty is only a good transfer kitty if we keep our better players, Jones has gone, if we lose Samba and Hoilett, we are in a real mess, the three players who for me, along with Robbo are the backbone of our team, if they leave, we really need to pull some real Rabbits out of then hat to fill the void, not only that, they need to gel and I for one am not impressed at all with Brazilians, attitude and cultural differences make it difficult for them to settle and play to their level.

Someone should have a word with the owners and give them sound advice, they are not going about this the right way, we need more English/Uk players or players who play to a similar style, names mean nothing unless they can play the way we play in the PL.

I am quite worried, rather than buy 'names' lets buy players capable of performing inn the PL, freebies or not, it doesnt matter.
