I must be the only one who rates James Collins!

I never used to and I wondered what Villa were doing when they bought him, but every time I've seen him play he's looked very good. Maybe I've just seen him on good days, I can't say I've seen him an awful lot.

Your not, he is a solid defender, nothing flash but decent enough. I'd welcome him here

You and the Holte End - they love him, its just people on here who expect world class players all of a sudden.

Yes Phil Jones has HUGE potential, but he is far from the finished article, at the moment we still have our best defender at the club.

Benjani >

RSC >

Vucinic/ Amauri/ Adebayor

Thats the way the striker hunt seems to have gone since last summer, yet people still moan....it takes time, but we seem to have increased our ambition thats for sure.

I rate Collins very highly. He's the better of Villas 2 CB's and they've been regularly in the top half of the table. Would be a very good addition. I also like Matt Mills after seeing him play for reading quite a few times over the last couple of seasons. If we can bring them both in we'll be looking ok at the back.

Kean can SAY he's after Adebayor- doesn't mean owt. Who he brings in will show the extent of our ambition.

Correct but for that they need time, so lets give them until the end of the window and see where it takes us, rather than all the negative comments about anything possible.

Hell if we were about to sign Messi some would still be on here moaning about the wages we were paying him or how he is too small etc

Two things i dont understand.

Kevin Nolan can only play in a 5 man midfield, he picks up plenty of injuries and has nothing left in his legs these days. Yes he scored a decent amount last season but from a 5 man midfield and usually being in the right place at the right time.

James Collins is a cracking defender. Gets stuck in, aerially he is close to being at Samba's level, only 27 too. I think he and Johnson could be a cracking preparing, two blood and guts defender who will stick their head were most wouldnt stick their foot.

On the other names Vucinic seems well overpriced to me, his goals/game ratio isnt that impressive in all honesty. Matt Mills isn't anywhere near the best defender in the championship, Luke Chambers at Forest is a far better defender. I think the Miranda thing is abit sly and dont like it. He has signed with a different club, move on and show abit of respect imo.

That must be the post of the week couldnt agree more

1 question who was Phil Jones agent ???

Has has got to be one of the worst for me. Another repetitious spewing of the same old same old from the same old same old posters.

Would you rather be under the trust with no money to spend? I know you'll say we've lost a good manager in Allardyce but we were never going to progress under him. Whilst I can't say for certain that we will under the new owners and Kean, i'm certainly more optimistic than this point last year.

Some good signings from the Jones money and I believe we'll be a more well rounded team.

Inspiring eh?

Collins as a replacement for the best young centre half in the country - or Samba [whichever one we like to choose] will weaken us. Larsson certainly will do little apart from filling a shirt.

£16m for a striker who averages around ten goals a season.

Battling Wolves for Matt Mills.

We've already lost Jones, we might lose Samba and we might lose Hoilett. We need to be doing a lot better than this.

Youre turning into a miserable old sod in your old age Den.

Weve had little or no investment for years now, and it seems like the new owners are ready to spend a few quid and its all bleedin doom and gloom.

Some of you lot need a reality check, its Blackburn not Barcelona, leave the judging until the start of next season.

Gotta agree about Collins - and have been a little surprised that some people on the MB don't seem to rate him. Whenever I have seen him play he looks exactly the type of no nonsense defender that we need.

I have to agree about other peoples concerns around the wage bill - indeed the offer to keep Jones was totally wrong IMO. I hope they haven't forgotten their original stated plan to invest in youth. Though we need some ready made replacements - adding Collins and getting JJ back - would give us a good basis from which to invest in younger talent (hopefully in a lower wage bracket as well).

No it won't. Who he makes realistic attempts to actually bring to the club will show the ambition, not just naming names but actually making enquiries we can afford to back up if the answer is yes. Who we bring in will be down to a lot of other things, like whether a player fancies coming here, whether his wife is pepared to uproot the family, how much we pay, whether a player thinks he can fit into a squad, whether he likes the look of the training ground, whether the sun shines the day he's shown round etc etc etc. I once heard a manager talking about the kind of things that break deals and prevent them going through and you'd be surprised at some of the trivial things that put players off clubs.

Collins was a target in January. Kean likes him. Villa did not want to let him go without geting Samba.

Villa will have a new manager and I understand Collins is one he wants to keep.

Must be a 'ginger' thing - shame as I too rate Collins.

Any news on outgoings from Ewood Nicko?

I agree, I probably worded it wrong. Clubs like ours will always struggle to attract players, who we sign does not show the extent of our ambition.

My point being, we showed 'ambition' over Ronaldinho. It was fantasyworld. a PR exercise. Adebayor is another.

Shame Nicko, I think he's a decent player. We should really be aiming at picking off players from teams who need to sell. Surely Birmingham should be one to raid now, no manager, just relegated, questions about their finances. Get in their quick and get the players heads turned. Johnson would be perfect.

Matt Mills would also be a good one, Reading not in the prem after missing out in the play offs, he might eb easy to persuade.

City would also be a good team to target, far too many players and will probably look at buring more. A lot of decent players there who could be available. Bellamy isn't going to get a look in, Onoura, Boyatta, those types of players.

And then there's the whole host of overseas players who our 'friends' at Kentaro should be searching through now. There must be hidden gems out there, we've unearthed them before with our limited resources, there's no reason why we can't unearth even more now with our larger net.

If you have a problem with it then PM one of the moderators and they'll deal with your query accordingly. THEY DO A GOOD JOB ON HERE, BUT DON'T ALWAYS REPLY TO PM'S. BUT THATS LIFE.

As for Rovers targets, at least Kean is addressing the lack of striking ability in our squad.

Still think we need a LB and a RB as cover.

Sorry you struggle with opinions Gav. It didn't seem to be a problem for you under Big Sam.

All stuff to speculate about.

Rather 'targets' weren't mentioned - not overly impressed with those that have been mentioned.

Just want to see the club walk the walk.

'Massive investment' in order to get us back into the top 10 where we finished in 2009/10. Hmmmm.

Hence why I said realistic. But you don't know until you ask. I don't think Adebayor would come either, but .......

i would'nt mind James Collins, he is a very commanding centre back, good in the air. However, if we can do some business with spurs for Samba, i'd accept 6-7 million plus Bassong.

roger johnson would be my number one choice but i'd refuse to go over 9 million for him considering he has one year left on his contract.

Kean knows that he needs the majority of his budget to enhance the attack, thats why players like Mills and Collins are being linked who are worth 4-5 mill.

i can see Cruz coming in, but 6.5 is a no go, 4.5 and i'd be tempted. I can also see Jermaine Jones being recruited again now that we have a decent kitty, i'd suspect 6 million would possibly be enough.

going to be an exciting summer me thinks

1)At the end of the window it will be too late. Got to get our objections to that list in now.We have never had this much to spend but that isn't the best way to spend it. Adebayor would be but that's just a teaser.

2)No we wouldn't!

Is there any update on Samba ? Have Arsenal and Spurs put in a bid yet ?
