I don't know which part of the LET report is more depressing .... Collins as a transfer target or Venky's continuing love-in with Kean by paying for his and his wife's holiday.

I'm sure Kean loves his wife but for Rovers fans the combination of Kean and Venky's so far has been a marriage made in hell.

I wonder if Balaji is willing, to fund my trip to Ewood. :P

To be fair, the players he has signed, added to the ones that will be staying on. Looks pretty good for them to bounce straight back into the prem

stop misreading and misquoting! excitement is the key word! :D

What a masterstroke by Sam.

Thinking completely outside the box.

How he has managed to persuade a player who he worked with for about 10 years at Bolton/Newcastle and made him the player he is today to join him in the capital I'll never know.

It's a good signing. Let's not pretend it's genius though eh?

He's trying to get a team straight back up. He signs a proven midfielder at both PL and Championship level who he has worked with. Why does he need to 'think outside the box'?

The bile he gets on here never ceases to amaze.

Fair enough, but still if he gets them a championship winning team, the excitement will be baked right in.

I think Allardyce might "relax" his style a bit, but i guess thats to wait and see.

Bingo. What he said.

You know what I really don't care if an uninteresting championship team with an uninteresting manager have signed an uninteresting player.

2.5m for JJ?

I can you are setting yourself up for faux disappointment again.

Your first line - yes.

Second line I don't understand.

In 5 months time Jones is 30. Talk of £6m is just ridiculous - and if we are really ambitious - isn't something we should be doing. He's been good for us and I would splash out around £2.5m max. While he's got a fantastic engine, as has been discussed on here previously, he doesn't particularly create anything and his defending isn't flawless. For £6m I think we could go some way towards finding that creative midfielder that we've needed for years now.

Neither do I. Hope they are soon rattling around the Olympic Stadium after failling to get promoted.

However, pathetic digs at our former manager should be challenged, Rovers transfer topic or not.

£2.5 mil? The real world is calling, will you accept the charges?

I agree, we have too many fans that think hard worker = good player, just look at the love given to Robbie Savage from our fans.

You can't buy a championship player for 2.5m. Let alone an international from a big team.

Sometimes you have to say thanks very much and move on. For £6m I think we could do better.

Its a balance though, you need a Savage as well as the frills, Wenger is starting top accept the fact he needs a bit of nastiness to win trophies!!

Savage was a golden haired warrior. The type of player we have sadly missed of late.

I feel 4 million is a fair price for Jones and I would welcome him here.

I'm leaning towards Den opinion on Jermaine Jones. I'd be horrified at £6 million given that he'll be 30 soon. He's a player who relies heavily on his physical qualities and has had injury problems in the past.

£2.5 million is probably a bit on the cheap side, but I wouldn't go above £3.5m.

Savage knew his limits too. His job was to get the ball and give it to Tugay. He did most of Tugay's running for him. I too reckon that Jones at about 4 million would be about right. there's no way we'd get him for 2.5m I don't think but 6m does seem excessive even for a player we know can do a decent job for us and would have no problems settling in.

Here's a man who knows his football.

2.5m - 3m max.

Given that Schalke were happy to loan him and are signing new midfielders it seems Jones is surplus to requirements at the Veltins-Arena to me so £4m max seems a fair price. It's not like Schalke are desperate to keep him is it and if he indicates he wants to leave and come to us then I agree that £6m would be daylight robbery.

Jermaine Jones is twice the player Robbie Savage ever was. Savage was a glamorized Keef Andrews. You can't seriously expect Schalke to accept a bid of only £2.5million for him? you are mad.

Huber is big mates with one of the Rao brothers.

Do you think he is going to shaft his mate - and the joint venture they are involved in?

No, neither do I.

Nicko I asked the question as I didn't know the answer. Is this joint venture or ownership?
