nicko
Who is the this team Nicko no chance it could be us? Ba is going to talk to Newcastle United. The wages are big, the bonus fee silly. The medical would be long. Everton are keen too, but will watch how Newcastle go before moving. It's as messy a move as the last time Ba hawked himself around. Avoid. Ricky
Is he worth the premium though Alan. We paid RSC £90k a week for doing bugger all surely Ba at £60-£70k with no fee would be a better option. I know the medical would have to be thorough.
den
I take it you don't think of Big Sam as a good manager then Den. We discussed Barton on here, while Sam was in charge Ricky. I didn't want him then and I don't want him now. Seeing as you brought Sam up though, I've listed Sam's failings before would be happy to do so again. Wish a few others would be the same way with the current incumbent.
Blackburn Ravers
Is it true about the 2million sweetner for Ba`s agent Nicko? disgraceful if it is, Also is it right about Thiago Alcântara going Bolton for 5 million in next dsy or so?

I know the medical would have to be thorough. So long as he wouldn't be THE first choice signing i'd be fairly happy with him. My criteria for a first choice striker is quite simple...score more than ten and keep fit. I could probably meet one of the two (score 25). roverandout
£6 million? are some of you mad? hes never a 6 million pound man in a million years. i think some of you slightly overestimate his contribution last season. Yes he did a job, put in the work rate but he didnt do anything messi-esqe or contribute loads of goals, 3.5 million, would be suitable, even then i would be loath to pay that much if i was manager. Commondore
Does any one else rate Jonas Olsson at West Brom? He doesn't have the imposing figure that Samba has (who does?), but he's hard as nails, fairly quick and best of all has a sweet left foot for ball distributing from the back. He's their captain and they seem to have some sort of project going with Hodgson as manager, but he's a somewhat realistic contender for the central defender we must buy this window. Brilliant! Do something 'messi-esqe' and you might be worth £6m. Think we should put in a cheeky bid for messi then...eh! I don't actually think JJ's good value at £6m, but swings and roundabouts....like I said.

Ferrit
Villa will have a new manager and I understand Collins is one he wants to keep. Best news in this window so far.

Hughesy
Not the finished article but still a better player than Collins. Jones out Collins in = Rovers are weaker even if Samba stays. Adebayor is totally unrealistic and Amauri really is poor. Vucinic looks decent but we have had strikers with better goalscoring records at Rovers for less than £16 million in the past. I'm not saying we shouldn't look at him but £16m is a hell of a lot of money, perhaps too much. Yes but if Nelsen & Samba are both fit - Jones doesnt get into Central defence yet! As for Adebayor - he will probably follow the bigger money offer, Amauri I agree on. Vucinic @ £16m again I agree is too expensive. Ba is a bargain if his medical is all clear I think. Iceman
Good player Vargas, can play on both left and right wing He also played behind a lone striker, or off the strike pair. Again, a player who is injury prone
roverandout
jw, when i say messi-esque, im not reffering to messi himself am i? what i mean is he doesnt pick the ball up and skip past 3 challenges before laying off a perfectly timed pass, he isnt a 'special player' just a workhorse who doesnt contribute much apart from his workrate and covering, rovers have loads of those types of players already, if they have £6 million to splash on a midfielder, they need to looking at someone who can unlock defences, thats where their weakness lies in midfield. chaddyrovers
Shame Nicko, I think he's a decent player. We should really be aiming at picking off players from teams who need to sell. Surely Birmingham should be one to raid now, no manager, just relegated, questions about their finances. Get in their quick and get the players heads turned. Johnson would be perfect. Matt Mills would also be a good one, Reading not in the prem after missing out in the play offs, he might eb easy to persuade. City would also be a good team to target, far too many players and will probably look at buring more. A lot of decent players there who could be available. Bellamy isn't going to get a look in, Onoura, Boyatta, those types of players. And then there's the whole host of overseas players who our 'friends' at Kentaro should be searching through now. There must be hidden gems out there, we've unearthed them before with our limited resources, there's no reason why we can't unearth even more now with our larger net. Mills or Collins would be good signing for us to replacement for Jones. Anybody think Shane Long would be a good signing for us? I would sign RSC if we can get him for about 3 or 4 million pounds. we need a striker with pace and that is why I mention Shane Long. If Spurs want Samba why not do a swap deal for Bassong and Palacios? I don't know whether we will sign JJ from Schalke. think they will want crazy money? I do not have a problem with JA/Kentaro involvement at the club as long as we get good players at decent fees from them and Kean is the ONE signing them and not JA/Kentaro!!! Don't mind them suggesting Players to Kean but he got to have the final say on ALL transfers!!!
Exiled in Toronto
what i mean is he doesnt pick the ball up and skip past 3 challenges before laying off a perfectly timed pass, So nothing like his surging run out of defence and perfect ball to Emerton against United then! BuckyRover
He was such a positive influence on the team last season that I would definitely pay 6m. I would rather pay less as I didn't think he was as old as he is. But if they wanted 6m I would pay it.
roverandout
yes but does he do that on a regular basis? no. Im not knocking him, hes a decent player but we dont need to pay that much for a player when we need creativity in midfield. JW, i know a creative midfielder would cost £6 million or more and i would pay that for a creative midfielder or over the odds for one because thats what rovers need. We have had plenty of 'triers' and 'grafters' in midfield over the last few years but what everyone has always said is we need a 'tugay', thats where are biggest problem lies in midfield, a player who can drop a through ball on a six pence.
