Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Elaborate... You got wind of any more names BPF? The list given by the LET made no mention of RSC. Can we take that as a good sign?
Baz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I did say either now or the last year, makes it more relevant. Also Dino clearly could not cut it in the PL- JJ has proven he can. He has international caps, a wealth of experience in a top league, CL experience and PL experience- proven himself- so £2.5 million Den, who would you buy? Michael Ballack Claude Mackelele Owen Hargreaves Gilberto Silva Joe Cole
hawkiiz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Would be super duper awesome if people would not post lies on here!
Torgeir Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Even if we might not have a chance at signing any of them, who would you rather have: Adebayor at £14m or Vucinic at £16m ?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 15, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 15, 2011 Michael Ballack Claude Mackelele Owen Hargreaves Gilberto Silva Joe Cole Kleberson, David Bellion
den Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Also Dino clearly could not cut it in the PL- imy, I'm not going to argue with you over what I would pay for JJ. You're entitled to your opinion, as I'm entitled to mine. There is no right or wrong figure here. I personally wouldn't pay more than £2.5/3m, because as I said we need probably two strikers, a creative mid and a defender to replace Phil Jones. On top of that we might need to replace Junior and we're awfully short of cover at full back. If we didn't have other priorities and we had spare cash, it wouldn't matter how much we paid for JJ. So two points. 1] £6m is going to leave a big hole in our budget, when we have other, probably very expensive, priorities. 2] I think for £6m we could get better value than a soon to be 30 year old JJ.
ABBEY Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Chill hawky breath relax ..all names mentioned so far and how many signings..
hawkiiz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Chill hawky breath relax ..all names mentioned so far and how many signings.. Don't think I've seen a lot of "x said to my source he would sign tomorrow", and then go back on it and say it was just made up/lies. Posting a rumour or wishing for a player is cool. Telling BS is just annoying.
rebelmswar Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Light hearted post hawk ffs...can't stand starbucks! Pretentious pish water that it is.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, I just thought it strange that this magic fee of £2.5-3 million is mentioned and there are very few players if any that we could purchase for that price. Michael Ballack is 35 years old Joe Cole would cost more than £2 million pounds Makalele is retired Hargreaves is on a free because he has played virtually no football in two years. Silva is 35 years old. So again it is very difficult to find a quality player for that price, if we have £26 million to spend I would be more than happy to spend £5 million on a player who would be a vital link in our side.
True Blue & White Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Diouf - nasty now..and always has been. Older and slower. Retirement in Scotland Jones - bust up with current manager. not a football issue. rich club. sidelined. Not good comparison. Older? 9 months difference in their ages, I mean come on. I don't see how anything else you said should affect their transfer fees and it's a darn sight better comparison than us buying Robbie Savage six years ago. I stand by my similie, if we don't expect £6m for Diouf, we shouldn't expect to pay £6m for Jones. And in case you hadn't noticed Schalke have already signed his replacement, Marco Hoger. Make no mistake, Jones will not be used by Schalke if they don't sell him, nor will Diouf be used by us.

Wee Bazza Ferguson? The truth is just because we have a larger than normal transfer budget, we shouldnt allow that to rule who and how much we spend. A player has a value, we should stick to that valuation. Our best recent purchases were all made when we were skint: Friedel Samba Nelsen Tugay RSC (first time) Benni Mc Nzonzi
T.J.Newton Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 DELETED POSTS - the next one that gets deleted will be the last...it's a bad day when you can't have a swing at a clown...makes things more ehtertaining...ok? get over yourself pal!
Gav Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I think that Sam has made two cracking signings for WHAM in Nolan. Nolan would have been good for us Well we agree on something, great bit of business by Allardyce to secure the signing of Nolan. He’d have been no good for us though, since he wanted 60k a week and 4yr deal until he’s 33, we couldn’t have afforded that, silly money.

Just cause we have a large wad there is no reason to go blowing it on anything - much like sheeple who bah their way through Starbucks lines to get a double shot late with caramel and some of that quite useless nutmeg sprinkled on top, all surrounded with a "100% recycled" hand protector. Let us be petrol station coffee drinkers please.
