philip369 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Older? 9 months difference in their ages, I mean come on. I don't see how anything else you said should affect their transfer fees and it's a darn sight better comparison than us buying Robbie Savage six years ago. I stand by my similie, if we don't expect £6m for Diouf, we shouldn't expect to pay £6m for Jones. And in case you hadn't noticed Schalke have already signed his replacement, Marco Hoger. Make no mistake, Jones will not be used by Schalke if they don't sell him, nor will Diouf be used by us. You want to compare EHD and JJ - and insist they are equal in transfer value. I'll smile and nod...

my_name_is_Earl Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 This may seem off subject, even though it is in what should be the correct thread, but I'm actually quite happy to have Kentaro discuss some of the ins and outs of our players. Somehow over the last ten years, through no doubt a lot of hard work and long hours, we have managed to unearth a number of gems whether it be through the academy or in players with low transfer fees. However, I'd much rather have an agency whose scouting network must be supremely informed to help advise us in what players, through knowledge, we could acquire to help take us to the next level. I am confident the Venkys will be very observant regarding the figures of the agencies fees, so I can see nothing but positivity regarding their involvement. Of course, I wish they left team matters to the appropriate people (regarding SEM), but i'm hopeful we can start to bring in very good players for very good fees. If you take a look at Formica for a moment, even though not many of us have actually seen him play, 3.5 million or whatever it was, in todays market, seems like a very good figure for a player who's just started playing football for Argentina, taking potential re-sale value into account as well. Jermain Jones would be about right at six million in today's market, let's get him signed up!
hawkiiz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hawk or starbucks? Clue JOKE hawky. No worries, buddy
adsfortheblues Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 what happened to Linganzi?? [/quote he's reverted back to a jockey as he can't quite mange to stride over the hurdles required in this league
Clitherover Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 get over yourself pal! I think you need to get over Nicko if anything, every time he posts you always seem to be lurking, ready to make a snidey (albeit unsuccessful) jibe at him. It's getting beyond obsessive and bordering on creepy now.
Plastic Head Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Why don't we appoint a decent manager, keep the players we have and save ourselves a load of money. Or is that too sensible?
BPF Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 People wont stop doing it to Andrews. Reb, once again you retain your title, pure gold. The day we finally have that pint in NY is going to be a day that lives long in my memory. In regards to RSC, I've not heard anything other than what I heard last week. Perhaps Venkys have found a replacement South American Poster Boy. Feeling much better about the club this week, heard some positive stuff. We are not owned by morons, despite what I have said in the past. Onwards and upwards.
hawkiiz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Why don't we appoint a decent manager, keep the players we have and save ourselves a load of money. Or is that too sensible? Kean is under a 2 year contract and won't be sacked. Also, when Sam left we were 15 in the league. When the season ended, we were 15th. Kean didn't do so badly at all.

You love Rovers and as such want the best for the club- I am glad the owners are not morons as we need intelligence at this key time in our clubs recent history.

I hope you are right BPF about the owners! I think the owners have learnt from their mistakes made and make better decisions this season coming. I hope Kean will buy good players that fit into his system and style of play we are going to be playing this season!
hawkiiz Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Slightly different? Yes, but not so different it verifies pretending Sam is great and Kean is a moron. 2 year contract means nothing In this case I think it does. Venky's said he was unsackable, and unless he does a very very poor job, I think they are going to keep their word.
slough_rover Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Even though Kean has said some stupid things I still feel as though he may just make it in the managerial world.
neophox Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I think signing Mirko Vucinic is a smokescreen, won't happen folks....we have other deals in the fire....just wait and see...

Venky's said he was unsackable, and unless he does a very very poor job, I think they are going to keep their word. nah, im sure there will probably be some sort of clause which allows them to sack him a lot sooner if he doesnt produce positive results/league position before the 2 year term is over, there always is with manager contracts, i.e. if by december we are in the relegation zone, i can see venkys sacking him.
hi-jaq Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Juventus speaking to Vucinic Bobbins... I was foolishly getting my hopes up about this one... I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed!!!

Pedderz0912 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I would be happy with: Warnock (2million) - Rumoured they still us this amount though 1 of Clynes (Learn off Salgado to be future right back) or Walker from Spurs would be awesome J Jones (4m-£5m) S Cruz (£2.5m) One of Bentley/Krancar/Palacious Johnson (£8m) Collins (£4m) if Samba goes and then 1 very good striker such as: Defoe, Pavluchenko, Adebayor, Vucinic, Ba etc The risk we have is signing potenitally 6-7 new players and integrating them in the team at once... This would leave a starting line up of: Robbo, Salgado, Johnson, Collins, Warnock, Jones, Nzonzi, Hoilett, Olson, Defoe, Santa cruz, Bench: Bunn, Clynes, Hanley, Pederson, Dunn, Rochina/Formica, Kalinic... roberts, Givet, Diouf, Andrews and grella all to go!!!!!!!!!

Your mum and dad must have been terrified when Christmas approached.
Torgeir Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I would make a small bid for Duff now that Hughes has gone, he just had a very good season for Fulham. Still has a couple more seasons in him I believe.
American Rover12 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I just want to go on record as saying that I hate Wes Brown (as a footballer, don't know him as a person) and hold him in the lowest regard and company the way some hold Venkys and Andrews. I will be livid, and suicidal (joking....maybe) if this illustrious club ever signs him. That is all.
