I am with you on Betnley. He is still a sublime crosser of the ball which is just what roque or Ade or Kallly or Robbo need.

i dont think you could have bentely and hoilet in same team, they both are at there best when playing on the right wing(allthough there playing styles are completely differant), yes you can move them about put hoilet as a striker ect... but i think that would reduce both there effectivness, i think.

comes up every window, but i've wanted to see giovanni dos santos in a rovers shirt for a long time. young and fast and very creative. Seems like he's involved in every mexican goal i see. Always felt like he could be the attacking midfielder we've always needed (though he's a good forward too). Sure he has a reputation for a questionable attitude and the physical capabilities to hack it in this league, but man i get excited every time i see him play. Been on loan basically since he joined spurs in 08, so he can't cost that much and I think would really make a good addition, even if it's just from the bench. 6 goals and 2 assists for racing in 16 appearances last term.

He was also runner up at the last world cup for 'young player of the tournament' behind thomas muller.

Agreed, been my thoughts for 2 seasons now. I didn't want to mention to que the obvious cynics and moaners. There is a rumor that Ciani of Bordeaux is going to Sunderland, would have like him.

hoilett staying would be better than any new signing in my opinion

I would second that. I like the fact that SK didn't have to fly over to Canada - I think it's good to see Hoilett Sr. come to Rovers to do business. I will be happy when this deal is signed - and hopefully it's for more than 2 yrs. and has a higher release clause than PJ's did.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Hoilett Snr is coming to England to speak to other clubs as well as us.

I'm sure they'll be looking closely at all of their options...

We were apaprently willing to offer Jones £80k p/w for five years. I don't like paying those kinds of wages, but if that's what it takes to get Junior to sign a long-term deal, then that's what we should do. Either he's a key player for us for those years, or we sell him for an 8-figure fee sometime in the next few years. Either way, that salary is better than losing him for a small fee this summer or for nothing next.

As far as Pedersen goes, I think he's a confidence player. I remember the player who scored those goals against Fulham, Burnley and (I think) Norwich (That cushioned header to himself past a defender) and some other great ones. He still has the ability to do those things, but for some reason doesn't. I was supportive of Big Sam's work in general, but I don't think our playing style did Pedersen any favours. Which might seem odd as he was the focal point for the set pieces, but in open play it wasn't for him.

surely that would be other clubs tapping up junior. He cant go off and talk to other clubs first.

I might be tempted to keep Morten for one more season, owing to the fact that a huge influx of players can create it's own issues.

The one's we need off the wage bill are Grella and Andrews. They're obvious weak links, and Grella takes up a fair few pound notes a week out of the wage bill.

HOILETT - is a priority...and rightly so...the fact that the club are 'engaging' with dad and then the lad is the right thing to do...give him a big deal, tie him down, move on.

GIVET - sorting out his tax bill issue is also necessary...you don't want to lose any more defenders...a new deal and a sweetener in there should also do the job.

TARGETS - hearing that next week will be lively...names, calls, funds all been sorted out...some need quick action like Miranda and Vucinic...don't think Collins too likely - Big Eck likes his fellow ginger by all accounts...however there is another centre half on the radar...will leave that until it gets closer...Jones is another option, but that may take some time to wear down Schalke.

BRAZILIAN AGENT - fabulous gem of info...no idea what it means...yet...but ties in with things happening as of Monday...on the case.

Nicko, there was talk that Miranda had signed a pre contract agreement with Atletico Madrid. I know it means nothing, but in terms of having your signature on a contract, means that it is binding? No?

Thanks Nicko, keep the info coming!

Is the Samba to Arsenal a done deal? Have seen rumours that it has been agreed and will be announced soon however not sure if I believe them or not...

Far from it. In fact, right now it's nowhere near it. But you have to be on alert in case Arsenal do come in...and you need a replacement. It's an awkward one.

Miranda has signed a pre contract. But things have already changed since that was 'agreed' - like the coach leaving. Money can always talk. And it is possible that Atletico might not want or need him either. Players and clubs change minds in an instant. Think back to Didi Hamann for a classic case of that.

Thanks, good to know. I guess Johnson is the most likely of replacements for Jones as far as I can see, if Samba goes we need another as well...

Thanks Nicko.

Glad to see we're gearing up to get our business done early doors, hopefully we can get some sensible additions to the squad, players that will really improve our first eleven.

Rather optimistic given that one of the best young players in the country has just baled out, our Captain and inspiration is likely to follow and Duggie Mk3's Dad's just come over from Canada.

It's brilliant isn't it?

A rollercoaster ride. Usually our best players just leave. This time we can replace them!
