McRovers Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 As far as Pedersen goes, I think he's a confidence player. I remember the player who scored those goals against Fulham, Burnley and (I think) Norwich (That cushioned header to himself past a defender) and some other great ones. He still has the ability to do those things, but for some reason doesn't. I was supportive of Big Sam's work in general, but I don't think our playing style did Pedersen any favours. Which might seem odd as he was the focal point for the set pieces, but in open play it wasn't for him. I'm with this, in fact under hughes pedersen's partnership with mccarthy was as good as anything i've seen for the past 20 years at this club. Though you might argue that he was a little pacier back then and our squad back then fit more naturally into a 4-4-2 with him and bentley on the wings. More recently still though I think he did a great job when moved into a more central playmaking roll in the latter half of the 09/10 season, working well in particular with olsson on the left wing. In fact i've struggled to see why hes not been deployed in such a position this season when we've struggled for creative options...

dubdubdub Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Rather optimistic given that one of the best young players in the country has just baled out, our Captain and inspiration is likely to follow and Duggie Mk3's Dad's just come over from Canada. We have the money to spend from the players that have been sold. We are trying to tie players down. We offered Jones an obscene amount to stay. Centre backs aren't that hard to replace and we'll hopefully come out the other side better off with a few players that we have been missing for years. Kean came in and instantly recognised that JJones was what the squad was lacking and hopefully he can bring a few others in who can improve the team. I'm not saying he's our saviour and we could perform terribly next year. For now though I am rather optimistic...more so than for many a year. I would ask you to think rationally what we'd be doing if we were under the Trust at this very moment in time but I believe your judgement and insight are too poor to be able to comprehend that situation. Shut up.
Ferrit Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 HOILETT - is a priority...and rightly so...the fact that the club are 'engaging' with dad and then the lad is the right thing to do...give him a big deal, tie him down, move on. Excellent news. TARGETS - ...don't think Collins too likely - Excellent news.

neophox Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 The business has to be done, two weeks to go for preseason training !
Bobby G Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Toulalan is moving to Malaga at 10m Euros - 15m Euros. We should be all over that deal.

Suprised no big teams are after him, would def be worth a shout, but we have not completed the sale of Jones yet.. so a little bit stuck I guess and would guess a defender and a striker are currently top of our list.

JAL Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 So far we've undersold the best young BRITISH centre half to the champions of England. The captain and fellow centre back Samba is expected to leave. Pedersen is rumoured to be leaving. and seemingly Rovers are in a struggle to tie down Jermain Jones who was here for six months, obviously Rovers and Kean didnt impress him that much. With the spine or back bone of the team that could be potentially missing come next season, then I dont care who we bring in as we will be nailed on relegation certs right from the off. Just hope the majority are holding off purchasing their season ticket renewals.

Rovers are talking to the dad who is the main person to go to over contracts and his son's future.

Torgeir Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Miranda has signed a pre contract. But things have already changed since that was 'agreed' - like the coach leaving. Money can always talk. And it is possible that Atletico might not want or need him either. Players and clubs change minds in an instant. Think back to Didi Hamann for a classic case of that. Or David Unsworth Thanks for the update, nicko.

You missed the article in one of the papers then.. the one in which Jones said he loved thd club and wanted his stay to become permanent. The 'struggle' as you call it will be in trying to get Schalke to part with him for a reasonable fee.

Based purely on whats happened and whats being said in the local rag to put it all into context, ignore at your peril, put your head in the sand, but football can change very quickly and a brighter dawn may arise, but at this moment in time this is how it is this is how it looks. The club have an opportunity to improve on this.
Boylerhaus Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 and seemingly Rovers are in a struggle to tie down Jermain Jones who was here for six months, obviously Rovers and Kean didnt impress him that much. That Jones article only says that other clubs in England want him. Would you really want the calibre of player nobody else wants? They base their opinion that we'll struggle to keep him on the fact that Stoke & Fulham can offer Europa League football. Not on Jones' opinions on Blackburn. Its just a guess by a reporter and shouldn't be too heavily read into
